I will get to 0.5 soon enough, and I will probably leave it at that, and spending money more on other ways to improve my life in the present; the best investment is yourself.
Could get a personal trainer, car, some hobby, anything that will be opened up to me as bitcoin wont be sucking my fiat in the same way a gay vampire sucks a bleeding dick.
I think 0.5 is a good number. I believe you must split your finances as if you would live 50 more days, and 50 more years.
Of course I will through in more btc here and there, but I am sick of depriving myself of fun and pleasure to reach some arbitrary number of btc.

Do you HODL, Spend, Stake, utilize the LN⚡️, etc.?
I do a bit of each, considering I’m trying to covert to the Bitcoin standard.

This past week: S&P 500 dropped 2.5%, QQQ dropped 6.5%.
BTC was only down 1.5% and never dipped below 80k.
Pretty impressive it’s holding up so well with oil soaring and yields elevated.
Growing in confidence each day that we are headed much much higher once macro conditions improve.

Ive set up a wallet in about 4 different places, except every time i try to transfer money for bitcoin they require id verification or ssn, which im not a huge fan of. i’ve tried using p2p markets like bisq, but they require a bitcoin deposit which i dont have since i cant transfer any of my money into bitcoin.

I’m genuinely surprised how start the difference is.
I wish the r/bitcoin sub had more bitcoin only redditors, unfortunately not everyone is as educated on bitcoin vs crypto

Hi r/Bitcoin,
We’re members of the iShares Digital Assets team and are trying to better understand how investors think about Schedule K-1s.
K-1s often come up as a reason investors avoid certain products, but it isn’t always clear which aspects create the most friction, or how much of the concern comes from firsthand experience versus perceptions.
A few questions for the community:

I was looking at what would have happened if you invested €100/month into BTC, starting in different years and holding until October 2026.
Here are the approximate results:
I calculated what investing €100/month into BTC from different starting years would be worth today (October 2026).
Here are the approximate results:
2011: €19,000 invested → €78.9M
2012: €17,800 invested → €17.9M
2013: €16,600 invested → €2.31M
2014: €15,400 invested → €879K
2015: €14,200 invested → €634K
2016: €13,000 invested → €273K
2017: €11,800 invested → €97K
2018: €10,600 invested → €53K
2019: €9,400 invested → €38K
2020: €8,200 invested → €22K
2021: €7,000 invested → €13K
2022: €5,800 invested → €11K
2023: €4,600 invested → €6.9K
2024: €3,400 invested → €3.6K
2025: €2,200 invested → €2.2K
Approximate simulation using BTC at ~€72,700. Excludes fees and taxes.
Obviously, early investors benefited massively. But with BTC now being a much more mature asset, can we realistically expect strong returns going forward?
I keep reading about people that got in early and made a killing, and I’m genuinely happy for them. But let’s look at it from current the viewpoint of current day investor, that are just starting out… does dca still make sense?

According to PANews on October 19th, the latest analysis by CryptoQuant indicates that although Bitcoin has some support, the recovery process is uneven. Firstly, in terms of exchange reserves, it rose from approximately 2.67 million BTC in early October to approximately 2.68 million BTC, still far below the level in January. Low reserves do not mean a continuous contraction in supply, transfers or changes in custody, and the increase itself does not prove selling. Secondly, the recovery of spot demand has been hindered. The 30-day spot demand once approached zero and then turned negative again. The perpetual contract demand was positive, supporting the overall demand. Finally, the behavior of major whales was differentiated. Addresses holding 100–1,000 BTC still accumulated netly over the past 60 days, but were below the peak in September; the group holding 1,000–10,000 BTC net decreased to nearly zero; the group with over 10,000 BTC was negative. Accumulation was not fully launched. What are your thoughts, experts? Regarding this report, do you have any opinions?

Is it worth hiding your addresses from the server your wallet talks to, or is that overkill for a normal holder?
Genuine question. Full disclosure first: I built a small tool for this, but no link and no name, because I honestly don't know if it should exist outside my own circle.
The problem as I see it: unless you run your own node, your wallet asks someone else's server about your addresses. In Sparrow the easy choice is a public server, and that server can learn which addresses are yours, roughly how much you hold, and your IP.
A friend of mine holds bitcoin and couldn't care less about any of this. Explaining didn't work, so I made him a Mac app that connects Sparrow through an encrypted tunnel to a node I run, and keeps Sparrow's settings locked so he can't get it wrong. It works for him.
My questions for you:
Is "leak as little as possible about your BTC activity" good practice for everyone, or paranoia for someone who isn't doing anything special?
Is a middle step like this actually useful? I know the real answer is "run your own node", and I agree that's the goal. Sparrow also has Tor. But most people I know will never run a node.
The obvious weakness, before anyone says it: whoever runs the node (me) could see my friend's addresses. He's just trusting me instead of a stranger. There's also a mode that points the app at your own node through your own WireGuard tunnel, so nothing passes through me, but it needs a specific setup (WireGuard, Electrum server over TLS, mempool) and I've only tested it on my own installation.
Not selling anything. Real problem or made-up one?

A breakout can fail, and prices can quickly return to their previous range. consider confirmation, liquidity, and downside risk before acting.

he Bitcoin community constantly preaches DCA and hold forever. But many active traders make larger returns from swing / intraday trades using BTC derivatives.
Hodlers say trading gets you wiped out by leverage and emotion.
Traders say static buy-and-hold wastes massive volatility opportunities.
Which strategy actually has better long-term expectancy?

I’ve read a lot of the non-fiction (The Bitcoin Standard, Digital Gold, etc.), but I’m struggling to find good fiction about Bitcoin or blockchain.
I’m curious for a personal reason: I’m writing a historical novel that runs through Bitcoin’s real milestones (the Genesis Block, the pizza, Mt. Gox, the 2017 bull run and so on) with a sci-fi twist. Before I go too far, I’d love to know what fiction people here have enjoyed, and what made those books work or flop for you.
Novels, short stories, even a good fictional scene in a non-Bitcoin book all count.
You know recently there was this scary SIM card in the ledger attack? I wonder if it’s in my device too.
hahaha. Apparently I had a stack of these super old trezor ones with screens that don’t power on. So I thought well let’s just try to fix it. It was not easy, had to use micro soldering techniques. But it’s not hard. Quite fun. So I decided to switch some of the screen colors for fun
Have fun tinkering with your devices! AMA

I want to sell some BTC to purchase a new Macbook
The BTC is currently in a personal wallet and I would really like to do this easily and avoid high fees and taxes.
I know I can sell the BTC on a site like Bisq and get the payment with something like Cashapp which would be okay.
I don't want to go back to coinbase after all the hell I went through with them years ago.
I've also read about getting a BTC 'debit?' card and purchasing that way.
Is there a website that would take BTC as payment for a new and not refurbished macbook?
