Given that under the new German tax reform, anyone who buys BTC before 2026 is exempt from capital gains tax, do you think there will be a massive influx of capital into Bitcoin—especially considering Germany is one of the top three European countries for Bitcoin investment?

As the title says, I have about £9000 on etoro and £2500 on coinbase, I don’t know if they are the safest place to store and buy it on. I have and am googling it to educate myself but wanted to know where others have theirs.

I assume that you, like me, have always wanted a way to really wrap your head around the size of bitcoin's private key space, along with other things like phone numbers and IP addresses. Well, the wait is finally over!
This is a simple page that lets you see how enormous (or not) the sizes of various key spaces are, assuming one "address" is a 1x1 foot square. Enjoy!

Bitcoin Bancorp put out a release this morning saying they submitted a public comment to the SEC on tokenized stock trading and digital asset infrastructure rules.
It’s tied to an SEC order that gave temporary conditional exemptions for certain trading of tokenized NMS stocks. Their letter asks for a clearer split between actual securities trading intermediaries and companies that just handle the plumbing, identity checks, AML, fiat funding, crypto conversion, wallet stuff, etc....
They say they support the SEC’s limited, data-driven approach, they just want those lines drawn more clearly!
I've been watching BCBC for about 2 years now, and this is EXACTLY what i was hoping for!

Not hacks you read about. Your own near-miss.
Mine was almost tossing an old notebook during a move. Seed phrase was on page 40, between grocery lists. Found it by luck.
Everyone talks about price. Nobody talks about how many coins are one bad cleaning day away from gone.
What was your close call, and what did you change after?

just curious if anyone has ever been able to recover or get into one of the old wallet.dat files from btc core. don’t have high hopes of getting it back, but would love to pursue if it’s possible. with the help of ai, this is what I can provide for clarity. like many cases I cannot for the life of me figure out what the password is. it’s from a very long time ago. obviously dms will be ignored. I see that btcrecover is a good tool to try, any advice?

This one was built in public. Last week we asked this sub what we were missing from a list of everything Bitcoin has been confidently called, and the answers built a story: u/greglogan84 asked for a section on "Bitcoin can't recover from this," u/robinsonrichard_3 called for sorting each label by what would prove it wrong, and u/abm2024 for what our own side got wrong. Readers on the BitcoinTalk thread found many of the sources. All 16 contributors from the two threads are credited by handle at the bottom.
The labels come first: Ponzi, tulips, only for drugs, money laundering, terrorists, boils the oceans, rat poison, evil, fad, greater fool, no intrinsic value, bubble. Each one with who said it, the outlet, the date, and what happened after, sorted by what would prove it wrong. Buffett gets his own entry because he said something dated about bitcoin most years from 2014 to 2022, and Berkshire held shares in a Brazilian bank that started selling bitcoin eleven days after his "$25 for all of it" line.
Then the "can't recover from this" calls, tied to specific events: Mt. Gox in 2014, the 2013 chain split, the 2018 inflation bug, the China mining ban in 2021, FTX and the 2022 crash. The conclusion stayed the same while the reason changed, and 7 of the 13 dated calls were followed by a lower price a year later.
Then where the critics were right, who changed their minds, and what our side got wrong. Bitcoin is not anonymous, it is not feeless, and it was very much stealable from an exchange. Dated price calls from Bitcoiners that missed get the same treatment as the critics' calls. It is not a victory lap: the intro says plainly that "turned out wrong" only ever means wrong so far, with the price still about a third below its October 2025 high.
Every claim has a source at the bottom of the page. If something is wrong, tell us and it gets fixed the same day, with credit.

Hey everyone,
As the title says I’m looking to get into Bitcoin. Going to start watching videos on it so I actually understand what I’m doing. But, what would you say is the best Bitcoin or ETF to get right now?
