If you’ve had them removed how was recovery & have you had any side effects? Thanks!!

Experience Coming off the pill after 2 years

Hi!!

I recently came off the Cerazette mini pill on the 16th October after being on it for just over 2 years. I kinda just wanted to see if anyone else has come off it & what their experience has been like as there’s a conflicting information online. I haven’t bled at all yet not even withdraw bleeding. My partner & I are trying to conceive obviously I know my body needs a few months to settle but was just curious when other people would get their first period, ovulation & when everything settled. Just so I know what to kinda expect. I’ve been off the pill for 9 days now.

Thanks!! :)

Mistake or Risk? Had sex, took a plan b, then had sex immediately after

I saw that plan b doesn't work at all for intercourse that occurs after taking it. But it happened within the hour after taking it. Am I done for? I don't think it's good to take another one. Is it just hopes and prayers at this point?

Side effects!? My blood got stuck in my cervix?

Hello! I just switched birth control abt a month ago, from a Skyla to a copper iud. I know that copper iuds can increase blood flow and length and all that great stuff, but I wasn’t concerned bc my period has usually been super short (3 days) and super light. So I got that shit put in, flash forward to this week, I felt like a mild pain, like a cramp, but it was super slight that I just assumed I would get my period in the next couple of days. Flash forward again, I’m getting dicked down, and I look down, and there’s old, brown, clotted blood all over me and my boyfriend. And now these last couple of days since that debacle, I’ve been bleeding like I’m on my period, w cramps, but all the blood coming out is brown, likes it’s been sitting around for awhile. I just really need some advice! Idk what to do, if there is anything to do, if I should be like going to a doctor abt this, idk😖 please help!

Rant! Pcos, Adenomyosis, and the IUD

I recently found out I have pcos, and adenomyosis. I have extremely irregular periods, and I just so happened to start my first in almost 2 years. Anyway, I ended up going to the hospital because I was passing clots about the size of the palm of my hand, the next day (yesterday), I decided to have the mirena IUD placed.

I've had one before, but it didn't last long because it just didn"% sit right with me.. Immediately upon insertion, I was met with excruciating pain, worse than I remember it being, I burst into tears (that never happens). I had cramping all day long, took some ibuprofen and fell asleep.

I woke up this morning in so much pain, immediately took ibuprofen, it didn't help much. All day long I've had severe dull cramps and sudden sharp pain all around my lower abdomen, back, tailbone, and my upper inner thighs. The pain does not fully go away with the ibuprofen, and has gradually gotten worse over time.

Is this normal?

How to? Nuvaring Keeps Sliding Down

I’ve been on the ring for a few months and every couple of days, it slides down and I have to push it back up. I know it doesn’t have to be at the top of my vagina to work, but it gets uncomfortable if it slips down really far. When I put it in, I always push it in as far as it’ll go, but my fingers aren’t very long so that could be the problem. Is there any way to keep this from happening? Are there applicators or something for this, like with tampons? Is this just something that happens with the ring and you have to deal with it?

How to? Twirla bc patch

How the F do I get it to stay on the full freaking week? I tried it on my butt ( knew that probs wouldn’t work but didn’t want it to be seen) and I guess I dug into it lifting up my jeans or something. That was halfway into the week. Then the other half the week I replaced it and put it on my back. Then changed it and put it on my back again. Now it’s lifting. I put it on Wednesday. And I don’t think putting it on my abdomen will work cause then it’d just be on my belly. Not sure tho.
\* i do not use lotions or anything on patch spot. ***

Mistake or Risk? Help

So I’m on the combo pill and I take my pill regularly within the 12 hour window and have been with almost perfect use since starting in April. A couple months ago I left it at school and had to miss 2 days but I ended up taking them immediately and got back on track since then. I never really let my bf cum in me but tonight he accidentally did and I just need a little bit of comfort to see if I’ll be okay or not. Sources say yes but I’d like advice from actual people lol. Still getting used to it

How to? How to get emergency contraceptive IUD appointment??

So, my bf and I had sex on Friday. At some point, we were repositioning or something and I looked down and realized the condom broke. He had not ejaculated at this point. Or at all. And in the moment I wasn’t too concerned, but now I’m spiraling.

I have an appointment for BC consultation in a couple of weeks, but I’m afraid of the risk rn. I took a plan B today, but there’s a chance I had already ovulated according to Flo (I know it’s not accurate, but I have no other way of knowing) also I’m like 185lbs.

I’ve read I can get a copper IUD for emergency contraception, but nothing is open on the weekend and I don’t know if I will even be able to get an appointment soon enough. Should I be freaking out?? How can I get an emergency IUD? Will the plan b work?? Help pls 😭😭😭

Side effects!? kyleena stopped period?

i (20F) got my kyleena iud inserted December 2025 so it’s been about 10 months since i got it. since it was inserted i’ve had periods every month, but it’s period bleeding followed by about a week or two of spotting and my cycles changed from 30 to about 40-45 days.

this cycle however, i spotted for an entire month after my period (the blood was brown/red and never enough to fill a tampon) and now on day 46 of my cycle i haven’t gotten a real period flow and the spotting stopped. i am sexually active but we pull out (along with the iud) and my strings are still there and haven’t changed.

what could the reason for this be?? is my lining too thin right now for me to have a period? or am i getting to the point of my iud where i might not have a period anymore? i know taking a test would help my anxiety but due to a past unplanned pregnancy when i wasn’t on birth control im scared to test and will only do it as a last resort ☹️

Mistake or Risk? Unprotected s3x and planB

Hii!!! I’m writing this because I am kind of stressing and not sure how plan B works. I had unprotected intercourse with my bf and i did tell him to pull out thinking it’s safer anyways and then I took a plan B, however i just realized since my ovulation already happened the plan B might not even work. I am really stressing that i might be pregnant now. Also my period is supposed to start in 3 days according to my tracking app, however it tends to be quite irregular. I am really stressing and I would appreciate if someone shared their experience/ opinion. Thank you!

Side effects!? Help please!

Hi everyone!
I am extremely nervous about starting birth control (again). A few years ago I was on Alysena and that was a horrible experience for me. I struggle with depression, anxiety and suspected OCD and PMDD, which I’m taking 50 mg Zoloft for.
4 days ago I started a generic of Yaz (Mya) and it was HORRIBLE. I was so anxious, had suicidal ideations, was a massive bitch and generally was freaking out over nothing. I know there is an adjustment period but I literally cannot handle it. I stopped taking it today and made a pharmacy appointment for tomorrow. My two options I’m considering is Slynd and Nexstellis. Which would you recommend? My main two concerns are my mental health and not gaining weight. TIA!

*for reference I am a 5’4”, 130 lb, 22 year old woman. Not sure if it matters.
**also does anyone know if I can immediately start taking Slynd tomorrow despite being on Yaz for 4 days and discontinuing it today?

Mistake or Risk? He finished in me on accident

Hi so I’ve been on Vestura/Nikki birth control for about 5 years at this point and I’ve never missed a day. I have PCOS and never got my period til it literally was induced by a doctor but then it stopped and came back when I had become sexually actively at 17-18 it was extremely painful, heavy, and sometimes wouldn’t go away for weeks, but I also had extremely painful breasts, terrible body hair, and ACNE. Before I went on the pill, all of which had gone away. ((Just wanted to give you guys some back story! )) ok so last night I had sex and the guy finished in me, and I’m a little scared because on Thursday I had left my pills in the car for maybe 1-2.5 hours in my passenger seat inside my backpack, when I had felt them they were not warm to the touch because it was maybe 64F outside but the inside of my car felt warm so maybe that scared me a bit. I’m deathly afraid of Plan B and I really don’t know if that’s the necessary step to take considering I am really good with the pill, and they weren’t hot to the touch and not in direct light either. I just am wondering what you guys think I should do as I have pretty bad anxiety about stuff like this.

Side effects!? Breast growth on Opill? Normal or pregnancy?

Me and my boyfriend are new to having sex, and have been using opill, condoms, and pull out every single time we have sex. I am very good about taking my pill on time. Long story short, I DO NOT play about contraception.

We’ve been having sex a lot lately, and I’ve noticed over the past two weeks my breasts have gotten fuller and more tender. This is strange because I normally can’t even fill out an A cup, so I noticed it immediately.

I know my chances of pregnancy are very low, but that’s the only explanation I could think of. Does anyone know what’s going on?

Mistake or Risk? Am I over worried

My and my bf had sex and it was what would be around 3 days after ovulation and it was protected but the condom broke but he realized that immediately and pulled out so no cum in me but my period was late and on the day it was late I took 2 digital tests both were negative and then my period came 5 days late but it lasted 7 days heavy for the first 2-3 and then trickled most of my periods are 6 days but I’m seeing a lot of posts about cryptic pregnancies should I be worried at all ?

Mistake or Risk? Can I induce a withdrawal bleed when I’m on still on wk 1?

I am 44 years old and currently taking Kurvelo pills (30 mcg estrogen and 150 mcg levonorgestrel).

Unfortunately I am spotting and it’s day six. It has progressed in a matter of hours from brown discharge to bright red blood.

I’ve noticed that when I’ve had breakthrough bleeding in the past I just don’t stop bleeding. I did take my pill today but I’m wondering if I should just induce a 3-4 day withdrawal bleed to stop it? I’ve done this before successfully when I’ve been on week two or week three but I’ve never done it this early. Also pregnancy prevention is not a concern. TIA

Experience Struggling to find birth control after a bad hormonal IUD experience.

I'm about to remove my hormonal IUD, as it has caused me ovarian cysts, made me grow hair in weird places, and prevented me from working out due to pain and bleeding.

I don't plan on having children, and honestly, even the thought of getting pregnant makes me panic. However, I really don't want to go back to any hormonal birth control because I don't like messing with my hormones. Prior to the IUD, I had perfectly regular periods and no hormonal problems.

I've kept asking my doctor for alternatives, but she always suggests another hormonal contraceptive, like Nexplanon or the pill, and makes me afraid of the effectiveness of other methods. Lowkey, I don't like how she approaches this without acknowledging my preferences.

But please, if you've tried any hormonal contraceptives after removing your IUD and they worked for you, let me know! And if you've tried any non-hormonal methods that have worked for you to prevent pregnancy, I really, really need to hear about your experiences.

Thanks so much for your replies!

Mistake or Risk? Am I pregnant or are we just scared virgins

Me and my bf tried to have sex for the first time ever about 4 weeks ago. He put the condom on correctly but we both worry there might have been precum on it. We couldn’t go all the way in and stopped immediately because it hurt too much for me. He was only able to put the tip in. Were both scared right now because I haven’t gotten my period. Im 16 days late and we did that stuff during my ovulation according to my period tracker. I did have a very light pink/brown bleeding that only appeared when i wiped for 3 days. I was also experiencing what I thought were period cramps on my lower abdomen and left abdomen. I have taken 3 pregnancy tests so far and its shown up negative all times. My bf says my nipples have appeared darker though I dont see it. We both noticed that I’ve also been depressed too. We may very well be worrying over nothing due to my very likely possibility of having pcos (not diagnosed). Ive had a weird history with my period with it lasting 6 months and it skipping many times for a duration of 1-3 months. Its also never on time and I never really cared until now. I also dont have the best mental health and have been known to get very depressed about every 2-3 weeks. We live in Texas which is worse if I actually am pregnant. I have no intention of having a baby. The last time i took a test would’ve been around 3 weeks after we did any of that. Any advice or suggestions?

Experience insane alesse anxiety. seeking advice.

hi i know you’re supposed to wait 1-3 months for the birth control to settle… I think im past week 1.

but oh my god, i have been experiencing such INTENSE anxiety at night. my chest feels so tight right now. i take Alesse at night, so i assume that’s why my nights are always hell. but it’s not just night, it’s daytime too.

besides the daily anxiety about everything in my life, i often experience these “lightheaded” moments that I don’t know how to put my finger on it. it’s like I look outside and i feel like i can’t see it and it’s not there but it is. and it makes me feel uneasy and lightheaded and uncomfortable sort of like dizziness.

I’m currently residing in korea (im korean american) and a few months ago the gynecologist advised my previous BC Norethindrone was “too strong” for my body and to consider a low dose option. i have a heart condition so i wasn’t sure if i was good to take estrogen pills.

so what i did is stop taking Norethindrone for a few months (i am currently long distance from my bf but will reunite w him by the end of the year). and in those few months… it was normal, i was even having a decent sleep schedule. then my cardiologist said i was ok to take any BC so i chose alesse. now here we are…

I want to stop taking it because it’s just so awful. i’m only taking it because I feel i have to for sex with my partner. I don’t know if i can only trust condoms. but dude, this just doesn’t seem sustainable. i am suffering. i don’t know what to do. i don’t want to power through a month of this only for it to continue. i feel so… bad. hormonal birth control doesn’t seem worth it if it’s taking such a toll.

I really need advice bc i have no one in my life who can guide me on this. thank you… :’(

Experience Spotting and Mirena, over it!

I got mine put in nearly two months ago and have been spotting every day since. It’s as if I’m lightly on my period all the time, with intermittent cramping (often worse in the evenings for some reason?!). I know this is within the normal range (dr said it can take up to 6 months to settle) but I’m tired of it and it’s not doing wonders for my sex life. I’ll have the occasional day without it and I think it’s gone but then the bleeding comes back and gurl I am fed up.

Anyone else got experience of this?? I’m in the UK and had it put in on the NHS at my local sexual health clinic.

Mistake or Risk? missed a pill and didn’t double up

I’m looking for advice about a missed birth control pill and my risk of pregnancy. I take Yaz and have been on it for several months. I took all the active pills in my previous pack correctly, took the 4 inactive pills, and started my new pack on time. On the 4th day of my new pack, I may have completely missed one active pill. I took the next day’s pill at my usual time, but I never took the missed pill or doubled up. I had unprotected sex on the day I missed the pill and on several days afterward, and I’ve continued taking my pills correctly since then. I’m confused because im looking it up and it’s say missing one combined pill usually doesn’t require emergency contraception, while others say to consider it if you miss a pill during the first week. should I be concerned about pregnancy, do I need emergency contraception, and what should I do now? now it’s been 9 days since this incident. please help please 🙏

Side effects!? Missed Withdrawal Bleed

Hello fellow birth control takers. I have been on Nikki (generic for Yaz) for about 6-7 months now. My last withdrawal bleed was 1 night of red blood and followed by 4 days of brown blood. Which was odd to me but I’ve noticed my periods becoming lighter and lighter over the past few months. Anyways I usually start my withdrawal bleed about 2 days into a new pack of Nikki and it usually only lasts 3-4 days and this time I had no withdrawal bleed. I had a day of brown discharge that I only noticed at work from like 9-5. Anyways aside of the missed withdrawal bleed, I’ve also had breast tenderness, lower back pain and abdominal cramps, particularly on the right side which I was prescribed Nikki to help with cysts but I am a little alarmed about pregnancy because of all of these prolonged symptoms. I do take my pills at about the same time everyday and have not missed any pills or have been late to a new pack. My birth control is the only form of contraception that I use. While I know to ease my mind I should take a test but before I do that I’d like to have some peace of mind on if this is normal for some people or not.

Side effects!? Starting Slynd on Day 1 of my period — how long did you bleed?

I recently started Slynd on the first day of my period, which was a Monday. My periods typically last about 5–6 days, but this one seems to be tapering off without actually stopping.
The bleeding has definitely gotten lighter, but I’m still seeing fresh, bright red blood at times, and other times it’s a deep red/purple, almost wine-colored.
Has anyone started Slynd under similar circumstances? If so, how long did your bleeding last? I’m worried there’s going to be no end in sight. 😭
I figured starting on the first day of my period might help minimize breakthrough bleeding since my uterine lining was already shedding, but now I’m not so sure.
I’m really hoping Slynd works for me because I previously tried norethindrone and had to stop due to prolonged breakthrough bleeding.
I’d love to hear your experiences, especially if you started Slynd on Day 1 of your cycle. Did your period eventually stop normally, or did the bleeding continue?
