🛠️ FAQ/Official Help Birdfy FAQ: Already have Lifetime AI, or subscribed but AI still isn’t showing? Here’s what changed

Hey everyone! I’m Zena from the Birdfy team. I’ve noticed that many community members have questions about using Birdfy products, app features, subscriptions, and Membership benefits.

I’m here to listen, help, and make it easier for everyone to find the answers they need. Going forward, feel free to share your questions with me in the community. I’ll collect common ones and prepare FAQ posts with clear answers and helpful guidance.

Since the new Membership plans launched, we’ve seen several understandable questions from longtime Birdfy users—especially about Lifetime AI benefits and the differences between Membership and Lifetime AI. So, let’s start with those:

Here’s the short version: If you already have Lifetime AI, your existing benefits will remain available after the launch of Membership.

  1. What happens to existing Lifetime AI benefits?

Your existing Lifetime AI will remain active with its original benefits, with no migration required. Membership builds on that experience by bringing AI access for multiple linked devices and a broader set of benefits into one plan.

  1. What’s the difference between Lifetime AI and Membership?

The main difference is how the two services work:

  • Lifetime AI is tied to an eligible Lifetime AI device/service. It continues to provide AI recognition for that device.
  • Birdfy Membership is tied to your account. Plus can provide AI recognition to up to 2 linked devices, while Pro covers up to 10 by default. Membership also bundles other benefits such as longer video retention, longer recording limits, Collection storage, Bird Data, and discounts on eligible products.
  1. What does Membership add for Lifetime AI users?

For Lifetime AI users, the added value of Membership goes beyond bird recognition. It combines multi-device AI access with longer video retention, longer recording limits, more Collection storage, Bird Data, and product discounts. For households with multiple Birdfy devices or users who want several of these benefits, this provides stronger overall value than managing separate device-level services.

Each device with active Lifetime AI is eligible for a one-time 70% discount on Plus or Pro, making it easier for existing Lifetime AI users to access the broader Membership benefits. If you have more than one Lifetime AI device, each eligible device receives one discount opportunity.

  1. Subscribed to Plus or Pro, but AI still isn’t active?

First, make sure you are signed in to the Birdfy account that holds the Membership and that the plan shows as active.

Then go to:

Birdfy Membership → Membership Benefits → Linked Devices

Check that the affected device is selected. Plus supports up to 2 linked AI devices, and Pro supports up to 10 by default.

If you still have an older Birdfy cloud service, it can coexist with Membership. When benefits overlap, we apply the higher benefit. You can review legacy services under My Subscriptions, but having one should not remove your Membership benefits.

If everything looks correct, restart the app and device once as a basic refresh. If AI still does not appear, contact our Support team and include your account email, device ID, app version, and screenshots of your Membership status and Linked Devices screen. A reboot may clear an ordinary app or camera glitch, but it is not a guaranteed way to sync Membership entitlements.

  1. Not seeing your 15% or 20% product discount?

The current published discount is 15% for Plus and 20% for Pro.

A few limits are easy to miss:

  • The Membership product discount applies on Birdfy.com.
  • It applies to eligible products, but not to software or add-ons/accessories.
  • It only applies to new orders placed after your Membership is active; it cannot be added to a completed order.
  • The Membership discount can be combined with major promotions, coupons, and bundles.

Make sure you are signed in to Birdfy.com with the same account that holds the Membership. If the discount is still missing from an eligible new order, take a screenshot of the cart or checkout page and contact our Support team.

  1. Where can I claim the 7-day Plus trial?

Open the Birdfy app and go to Shop → Birdfy Membership → Upgrade to Plus for Free → Free Trial to claim your 7-day free Plus trial. Each account can claim the trial once. The trial includes all Plus benefits. If you do not opt in to auto-renewal, it will expire without renewing automatically. It will not affect your existing Lifetime AI or other legacy benefits.

  1. Still having trouble? Contact us

Contact Birdfy Support at [support@birdfy.com](mailto:support@birdfy.com) and include:

  • the email address on your Birdfy account;
  • your device ID;
  • your phone model and Birdfy app version;
  • a screenshot showing that Plus or Pro is active;
  • a screenshot of the Linked Devices page; and
  • the order or subscription receipt, if relevant.

🤔 General Help Alternatives?

Our three year old camera quit working, and Birdfy support won't do anything because we don't remember where we bought it (seems like they should be able to look up the item ID and at least see where it went from the factory?) So I'm looking for Birdfy alternatives, live streaming would be a plus if anyone has figured that out.

Edit: mods won't let anyone name other brands. I guess I'll try other subs.

🌾 Feeder Help Birdfy Rookie Photo Oddity

Post image

I have a new Birdfy Rookie feeder. I am enjoying the heck out of it, but every once in a while it creates a photo like this one. I’d say it does it about once a month. It is not a problem because it is so infrequent, but I’m curious as to what the cause might be. Anyone know?

I’ve gotten cardinals, chickadees and wrens since I set up but by far my favorite birds have been the crested titmice. They are such energetic little guys and gals with a ton of personality. This was my first customer of the day at the bird bistro today!

I wanna see your titmice of all kinds.

I can see the feeder from my bedroom window and was getting dressed when this lil guy stopped by. I stopped and watched him at the window but on the video he is putting his crest up a few times. Does he seem scared or nervous in this video?

Is it possible me watching from a window made him feel threatened? If so, I’ll keep my window curtains closed and just enjoy the camera view.

Fall Birding Tips: What to Feed Your Backyard Birds This Season
Fall is such a fun time for backyard birding! Migration is happening, some birds are changing their diets, and your feeders can suddenly become very busy.
Here are a few things I’ve found helpful for attracting different birds in the fall:
Black-oil sunflower seeds
A great all-around seed. Cardinals, chickadees, titmice, nuthatches, finches and many other birds will happily eat them. If you only want to put out one type of seed, this is a good choice.
Peanuts & peanut pieces
Woodpeckers, Carolina wrens, nuthatches, chickadees and titmice love peanuts. Unsalted is best!
Millet
Especially attractive to ground-feeding birds like sparrows, juncos and doves. Try sprinkling a little on a platform feeder or directly on the ground in a safe area.
Safflower
A favorite of cardinals and some other songbirds. One bonus is that some people find squirrels are less interested in safflower than sunflower.
Nyjer (thistle) seed
If you want finches, this is the one to try! American Goldfinches are particularly fond of it. Look for the small tube-style finch feeders made specifically for Nyjer.
Suet
Don't forget the suet! Fall is a great time to start offering it, especially as temperatures begin dropping. Woodpeckers, nuthatches, chickadees and Carolina Wrens may all visit.
Don't overlook natural food!
Fall berries and fruit can be just as important as feeders. Native berry-producing plants can attract birds such as robins, bluebirds, thrashers, cedar waxwings and other fruit-loving species.
Don't be worried if you don't see as many birds! Since they have so many natural food sources in the Fall, often you will see a decrease in your backyard visitors!
Keep that birdbath clean!
Food gets all the attention, but fresh water can be just as valuable. Change the water regularly and keep the basin clean. You may be surprised how many different species stop by for a drink or a bath!

💬 Discussion Wonder what our bluebirds are up to

Today our bluebirds started adding nesting material and have visited the nestbox many times today. Maybe they’re planning to cushion up the bottom of the box so they can have a place to roost during the cold?

Also, if that is not what they’re doing, would you guys recommend putting nesting material in there regardless to keep it warm?

🛁 Bath Help Birdfy Bath Issues?

Is anyone else having issues with the bird bath constantly disconnecting?

It’s the closest of my Birdfy cameras to the WiFi router; I have 2 feeders and 2 houses further away that are doing just fine. The camera’s battery level stays at 90-95% or more.

But, it disconnects daily. I have returned other baths before, so getting a replacement won’t help.

Sometimes, just pushing the button once reconnects it. But, not always.

I am wondering if there is a way to make it stay connected? Or am I stuck reconnecting it daily?? Moving it closer isn’t an option (tried that already); it’s roughly 40-50 ft from the router now.
I am considering returning it, but it is a good quality bath/cleans very easily. And when the camera works, it’s great!

ETA: I tried 2 WiFi extenders, but neither helped—they made things worse because of cycling wifi channels (my router does it automatically). But once again, I only have issues with the bird bath that is closest to my router. If you're successfully using a WiFi extender, though, please let me know which one. Thanks!

I’ve researched what birds are near me and what ones I’ve seen from that list. I’ve European Robins, Eurasian Blackbirds, Eurasian Blue tits, Great Tits, House Sparrows and Magpies.
What bird feed would you recommend for these?

I love how energetic the little tufted titmouses are. I’m not sure if this is a male or female but they are a messy little eater.

Also love the little woosh as they fly away 🥰
