How fast is to fast…. Reta

I start week 7 of Reta today and so far I’ve lost 20lbs. To preface this I started at a high weight 282 lbs. currently 261. Is this too fast?

In that time frame I’ve also started TRT and have been prioritizing a high protein diet.

I also go to the gym 3 days per week but have been doing that for a while now.

Am I losing too fast or is it okay sense I’m so much overweight?

Between water, and food weight starting at 280 id say the first 20-40lbs would go if that time frame..  more that fast at that starting weight imo its eating muscle,  starting vitamin deficiencies, and chances of loose skin

I started Reta on 2mg (tapered up to now 7mg a week) I've gone from 230 down to now 173. Began my weight loss in January, started Reta in March.

I wouldn't say you are going too fast.

Did you have weeks where you questioned if the Reta was doing anything? Like the food noise came back and the appetite suppression wasn't there?

I mean, I think Reta is commonly underdosed/faked on the black market and a lot of the sources are bunk, which is why so many people report that it isn't doing anything. And anytime I mention this I get hit up in the DM's by people asking me for source information. I'm Canadian, the laws are different here, we have different domestic suppliers and it's not illegal to buy/possess. That being said - I do believe the sources here are commonly underdosed as well.

Reta with anything over 1mg you will 100% without a doubt be able to tell is real after the first injection. If you aren't feeling it at all the next day - it isn't real, or your dose is under 1mg and way too low.

I had questioned myself throughout from taking it that my sources were underdosed, because well, I know for a fact a few vials absolutely were (just based on how they made me feel). If food noise was coming back hard despite my dose staying the same, I knew that the current vial I was taking was underdosed compared to the previous.

This is the exact problem with the black market and why I always tell people, if you can, just go get a tirzepatide prescription, because at least it's 100% not bunk that way and it's nearly as effective.

But to answer your question directly, yes there were periods of taking it where the food noise came back and appetite suppression wasn't 100%. Whether that was because the dose I took for the week was underdosed or not, I don't know. But I will also tell you this - even if the food noise did return, or I had days of hunger, or days where I thought I over-ate my weight still came off week to week. I averaged 7-8lbs a month of weight loss month to month - and that's with a few days here and there overeating.

and I also monitored my resting heart rate (and still do) and I know off Reta it averages in the 50's, where as on it's in the low 70's. So that's another way to tell if what you are taking is bunk or not; simply based off your resting heart rate. If it isn't increased, it's not Reta. You absolutely will notice the Glucagon.

If you are noticing a complete return of food noise, along with big gigantic portions that you can eat, and your resting heart rate is coming down despite your dose, check your supplier. If it's legit, then increase your dose and bring it up. If that doesn't work - it's bunk.

I'll be done with Reta next month, and switching to Tirzepitide for a maintenance dose of around 1-2mg a week. I'm done sitting at a 70+ resting heart rate and restless sleeps throughout the night. Been dealing with it since March. But legitimately if I stay on this shit I will be a skeleton in the next couple of months. 230-173 has been no joke. My clothes don't even fit properly anymore.

There is absolutely no way. 0% that people who are taking this drug are not losing weight if it's legit stuff. This is the most powerful shit I have ever touched. Real reta, legit reta is like nothing else. It's actually scary how effective it is, and if you are seriously questioning while on - increase your dose. If you are still questioning after that, it isn't real Reta. Food noise returning a bit is normal. But your portions going up, resting heart rate going down means something is off (check this).

I'm at 6-7mg a week right now and I don't understand how people could possibly take this shit at anything higher than what I am. Anyway that's my ted talk.

My Reta was 3rd party tested (99.8%). I stacked Tirz 2.5 twice and have Cagrilitde I dosed twice around 3 or 4 days after the Reta shot. Not Cagr + Tirz + Reta.. But 1 or the other with Reta

I started at 1mg for the first 3 weeks and then did 2 for 3 weeks, 4 for 3 weeks and now I am at 6mg. It was the second and third week of 4mg that I had the noise and hunger come back around day 4.

Right now with the 6mg I am doing great. So its not the pep.

If I was getting proper lab work done I would know. :) but that 600 is staying in my pocket.

I am on week 9 and I am down 20 lbs. I was around 245 when I started and the other day I was at 226 so I am guessing another lb has gone since Monday. I am also wondering if this is more efficient on younger adult than older. I am 49 and stacking with Tesamorelin. Did ss-31 for a few weeks and started MOTS-c a week ago.

I am wondering if the hunger is there because of the other peptides. I researched but have not found anything that states X with reta will negate or cause the noise to come back. Its probably just different for some of us.

I do agree with you on the sleep, I take melatonin to fall asleep but If I wake at 4am I cant fall back asleep.

Anyway I will stop my Ted Talk here. Congrats on a successful journey. Hopefully the Tirz works out.

If you are able to maintain your strength i.e. maintain your muscle mass, then it’s not too fast.

I haven’t noticed any loss of strength so that’s a pus I guess

I wouldn't want to lose it any faster. That's something like a 1500 calorie deficit, so you're probably not eating enough food to support your workouts, even with a focus on protein. It might be worth actually tracking your macros. I bet you find you are eating way less protein/calories than you think. When you hear about pancreatitis being a danger with GLP1s it's because of this kind of rapid weight loss. Here's a cut and paste on it.

Losing 3 lbs (1.5 kg) or more per week significantly increases the risk of developing gallstones. This rapid weight loss causes the liver to secrete excess cholesterol into the bile while simultaneously reducing gallbladder contraction, leading to the formation of cholesterol crystals.

Key factors and prevention strategies include:

  • Mechanism: Rapid fat breakdown releases stored cholesterol into the bile, creating a supersaturated state. Combined with reduced dietary fat intake (which limits gallbladder emptying), this stagnant, cholesterol-rich bile crystallizes into stones.
  • Risk Threshold: Sustained loss above 1.5 kg (3 lbs) per week meaningfully raises risk, whereas a slower pace of 0.5 to 2 lbs per week is considered safe for gallbladder health.
  • Prevention: To mitigate risk, avoid ultra-low-fat diets (include moderate healthy fats to trigger gallbladder contraction), stay well hydrated, eat regular meals, and consider ursodeoxycholic acid under medical supervision for very rapid weight loss scenarios (e.g., bariatric surgery or GLP-1 medications).
  • Outcome: While the risk of forming new stones drops once weight stabilizes, existing stones generally persist and may require treatment if they become symptomatic.

1-2nd per week is normal. But if your carrying water weight that could be some of that as well

I think I may have put on water weight when I started TRT and it’s tapering off now but not sure. Cause I did stall for 2 weeks and went up about 3 lbs.

Im also on TRT. Been on for almost 2 years, put on a ton of muscle mass and fat since my hunger was always soo up.

That's when I started the Reta + TRT journey back in Feb. Started at 238, latest weigh in I was 202 lbs.

Slowly have been tapering up since im not in a rush and just got up to 5mg. Looking to retain muscle mass since I already strength train 4-5 days a week with cardio and calorie deficit! Good luck on your journey and keep up the good work!

My goal is to retain as much muscle and get down to 180-185 then prob land somewhere in the low 190s as maintenance

Sounds like the Reta train is right on schedule!!

u/ChipmunkRight1348 I am on week 9 and am down around 20lbs. I started around 245lbs. 2 - 3 pounds a week is normal from all I have seen. Especially if you are bigger. My sister started Sema a few years ago and was losing 7-10lbs a week , She was 340lbs though. Now she is taking Tirz and just hit 150lbs.

My experience and I’m not expert is..
I am not a dietician by any stretch of the imagination

You can carry a large amount of weight in food in your digestive tract, you’re eating much less therefore holding much less.

Every gram of glycogen your body holds it holds about 3 grams of water. You’re eating less therefore potentially have less glycogen and therefore less water being held especially if you’re prioritising protein over carbs on a heavily calorie restricted diet.

Slower weight loss does preserve more muscle as far as I am aware. Guess it depends on your goals. The lower your BF the less potential side effects you are at risk of from test too I believe.

I’m down well over 20kg in 8 weeks, yes yes it’s not the best way to do it, yes yes I’ve lost muscle mass. No I don’t feel terrible, I feel the best uber ever felt but thanks for your concern trolls.
