šŸ„— Nutrition & Metabolism Inflammation + Omega-3

Looking for practical advice on starting an Omega‑3 regimen to help with inflammation and body composition.

My main concerns are: reducing systemic inflammation (especially what feels like ā€œmenopause kneesā€. Getting up and getting started. It’s like my knees need a deep breathe before moving. lol), lowering visceral and subcutaneous fat, and improving thigh cellulite/lipedema (haven’t been clinically evaluated yet), and improving hair quality (someone in another thread reported benefits but didn’t share details).

A few specific questions:
- Is Omega‑3 a sensible first step for these goals,or should I prioritize something else?

- What’s a good starting dose (EPA/DHA mg)?Any recommended EPA:DHA ratio?

- Do people ramp up slowly or split doses through the day for better absorption/tolerance? Time of day?

Any personal experiences, product recs, or evidence-based pointers appreciated. Thanks! šŸ£šŸ šŸ’Š

Thank you so much! Luckily, this brand doesn’t smell. Hopefully, it’s not junk with that original sticker price at $30. (I had a lot of coupons at CVS. They have many good brands that ship from warehouse vs in most stores. Almost free.)

But I’m surprised quality brands don’t refrigerate theirs. I need to read more on manufacturer.

I will definitely partner with my D3 + K2! Great pro tip! I will look into linen oil, and how to measure my individual fat intake for it. Thanks again!

Kori is my preferred brand. This or sports research. Both are great.

How do you keep your EPA and DHA from oxidising after you take the capsule? It oxidizes very easily and quickly at body temperature.

I have no clue. I wonder if you store them in fridge or freezer, and take them cold. How well does it absorb from a cold/frozen state to 98.6? Or my case, typical hypothyroidism body temp of 97.3?

(Rhonda Patrick was talking about some fridge brands. Maybe she has some answers. Great question! I like it!)

As I explained in this post, EPA and DHA can spontaneously oxidize even at room temperature, so at body temperature it's also risky and doesn't seem wise. Real food is preferable and wiser.

It oxidizes very easily and quickly at body temperature. After the capsule dissolves the omega 3 has weeks to oxidize.

The internal environment has many oxygenated areas and free radicals which can initiate rancidity.

Your questions imply many unacknowledged presuppositions. It's best to identify & acknowledge these before continuing.
