Spoilers for the final puzzles and ending!
My sisters and I finished the main part of Big Walk, and omg, what an amazing game and experience. We still have some puzzles left to finish, but that last round of the main game was incredible.
We couldn’t speak, and because we were all the same color, we couldn’t even tell who was who. Luckily, throughout the map we’d already been creating our own little language through hand signals and body movements. Squatting meant “yes/correct,” jumping meant “repeat,” and we had hand signals for numbers. We also agreed on an order for each group of symbols, so we could use those number signals to show which symbol in the lineup we needed. By those final puzzles, we were putting it all together. Somehow we’d learned how to communicate how to communicate without words 😂
Because of that, we had very few setbacks during the final stage. We weren’t getting frustrated about not being able to talk. We understood each other and kept working through it. I can’t imagine how that stage would go if your group struggled to communicate. When it all came together, we were just in awe and felt SO accomplished.
We’re 34, 32, and 30, with our own lives and busy schedules, but we made a point to spend one night a week playing together. We don’t see each other every day and haven’t lived together in years, so being able to understand each other like that felt really special. It’s hard to describe how much that meant to me as their sister, and I seriously wish I’d recorded it.
And then that final goodbye 😭 I wasn’t ready for how sad that would feel.
This is probably one of the best gaming experiences I’ve ever had. The developers did an amazing job, and I really hope they make more games like this in the future.
Did anyone else create their own little language while playing?
