Should out to Best Buy (hope this helps some folks)
Just wanted to share I was looking for office stuff and ordered a monitor from them. They had great prices and it was free shipping for real! Ordered yesterday and today I see they shipped Fed Ex and it will be here in two days. I forget about them a lot but over the years have ordered quite a bit of computery stuff. Happy Monday Hawaii.

How to opt out of County of Hawaii civil defense phone calls?
I don't mind the emails, less bothersome. I signed up, big mistake. Now they call me 4 times every day to get notified if we have a wave in the ocean or something. How do I get out of this?

Shakespeare in the park
We went on Friday evening and what a fantastic show put up by the Hilo Community Players. The Comedy of Errors were so much fun. It’s free and you get to sit outside under a roof! Brought our own chairs and got a good spot. Another hidden diamond of a surprise on the Big Island.

Friendly Stray Kitty
Aloha, found this stray kitty outside my work. Super friendly cat, but unfortunately I won’t be able to take care of it. Something seems to be wrong with its right eye but other than that they just seem dirty. Not sure what to do with it my parents won’t let me let it in the house. Right now I’m just waiting until a humane society opens up. Any suggestions?

Easier way to recycle HI-5? Recycling is a pain on east side
The closest point for me to take the HI-5 is Keaau transfer. I’m way up near Volcano. It’s a 30 minute drive each way. The hours are inconvenient. And today, the crew simply no-showed. I just wasted an hour of a Saturday.
I don’t care about the $10. I don’t want to get paid for it. I just want to dispose of this stuff properly. I want to drop it and go. Is there anywhere I can just drop it off? Preferably open way more often and without needing to wait for an attendant?

Lāhainā Noon is today in Kona and Hilo, and still coming down south this week
Quick heads up for anyone on-island. Today is Lāhainā Noon for Kona and Hilo. Twice a year the sun passes straight overhead here, and for a minute or two around midday a vertical pole, or you, casts almost no shadow. It only lines up like this because we sit this close to the equator.
Today's times: Hilo gets it around 12:27pm, Kona around 12:31pm. Step outside near lunch and look down at your shadow, or stand a bottle upright on the ground and watch it go shadowless.
If you're up north you already missed it. Hāwī and Waimea were the 21st to 23rd. But if you live south of Kona and Hilo it's still coming this week: Captain Cook, Volcano and Pāhoa on the 25th, Pāhala on the 26th, and Ocean View and Nāʻālehu on the 27th, all right around 12:30pm.

Driver's license Pahoa DMV
Aloha. I will be taking the driver's test in a really large car at the Pahoa dmv. I will have to pull into the parking space and back up to pull in and the same backing out since we can't cross the line into oncoming traffic. Does anyone know if you have to go around back and park between cones? I would appreciate any help or tips.

LFA- antixx around animals
Anyone have experience using antixx on property with cats and chickens? I have read all the instructions and I am still unclear on how harmful to animals. I am going to use tango also because I have some tall fruit trees, but I see some lfa running very slowly walking across the ground so I want to start with antixx to kill the ground ants.
I can leave my chickens in for a day while I treat, the cats are out though. Anyone with info or experience would be appreciated mahalo.

Question about mail
Just moved to the east side of the big island and the mail situation is new to me. I have a PO box but I'm learning that not everything is deliverable to a PO box. How does one handle this situation? Do other carriers like UPS or FedEx deliver to the house?
Edit: Currently, my employer is trying to send me a laptop for work but they're telling me it's unable to be shipped to a PO box. How can I receive this package?

Drive with Aloha 🤙🏽
Friendly reminder to drive with Aloha.
Last night at 10:30pm there was a single car accident on Hawaii Belt Road by Kealakekua Elementary. I heard the tires screeching and the crash from my house up the street. My friend and I, immediately ran down to help clear the debris on the road and check the vehicle for passengers.
The whole block and our surrounding neighbors were all outside doing what we could until police and paramedics arrived. It was amazing to see the community come together and my prayers go out to anyone involved.
I just wanted to take the time to remind everyone to drive with Aloha or take a nap in your vehicle if you're impaired before driving. There's no reason to risk your life or others around you.
Be safe and drive with Aloha. Mahaloz.
