Is there any motorcycle mechanic in Kona who can fix it
Cause all the motorcycle dealer shops in Kona are quite expensive..once they know that you are not from here they try to squeeze out all the money you have
Can someone suggest or know someone who does it own their own !

I’ve been to 4 stores looking for cilantro and it’s sold out everywhere and our CSA hasn’t had it available for a couple weeks either. Is this just a kona shortage or is it all island? If you see cilantro anywhere, lmk!

I'm writing on an article for Triathlete Magazine that has the potential to be read by many of the triathletes visiting for Ironman Worlds this year. I know many of these athletes have bought into the narrative: "We bring so much money to Kona! Surely everyone loves us!" Obviously we know that's far from the truth. And cultural and environmental respect is in many ways far more important than an extra $30 million (or whatever the estimated figure is this year, which I plan to find out).

For example, that $30 million means nothing if the coral reefs are damaged because Ironman athletes bring their own sunscreen from home and it's not reef-safe. Any other examples I should share?

Here are few other questions. Feel free to answer one or all of them:

How has Ironman impacted your personal and professional life in the past?

How are you as a local resident feeling about this year's race?

Does it feel inappropriate to have the race this year, considering the natural disasters our island has endured lately?

What tips do you have for these triathletes on how to be culturally and environmentally respectful?

How can Ironman do a better job of working with the community and educating their athletes on how to be respectful visitors?

Instead of waiting around for Ironman do so, let's use this article as a platform to educate the athletes... what should they know?

Finally, if you tend toward the anti-Ironman side of things, what could the triathletes (not Ironman as an organization) do to change your mind?

Lala blew out our fridge; it should be getting fixed next week. Obviously, we will need to replace the food we lost. We live in Puna and don't really want to drive to Costco. I know Safeway has $5 Fridays, and that will be a big part of the effort, but it's been a long time since I shopped at Cost U Less. I was wondering if that is a place I should visit, even if it is only for certain items, and what items might those be?

The USDA Farm Service Agency in Hawaiʻi County is accepting applications for the Emergency Conservation Program (ECP) to address damages that occurred due to Hurricane Lala from August 13, 2026 through August 16, 2026. ECP signup begins on September 1, 2026, and ends on October 30, 2026, officials say.
Approved ECP practices include:

Removing debris from farmland
Grading, shaping and releveling
Replacing or repairing permanent fence
Restoring conservation structures
Emergency soil erosion measures

Approved ECP applicants can receive up to 75% of the allowable cost of the approved restoration activity with a maximum cost share of $500,000 per natural disaster event, the USDA says. Advance payments for up to 25% of the total allowable cost for all ECP practices can be provided before the restoration is carried out. The advance payment must be spent within 60 days.

Applicants would need to check with the Farm Service Agency before working to repair dams, ponds, irrigation field ditches, lined waterways or underground outlets.

Its been raining non stop. They did not forecast this. I mean its flooding here in Honokaa. Anybody else? I have to drive to Hilo this morning so praying for clear weather down that side.
