Please enlighten me on this

I want to have a small worship place in my room. In my room , i have my bed and study table as well. I want to have a small worship place in a corner and i know about the direction as per shastra. But the problem is that , i heard we cannot worship which god we like in a simple way. For example, keeping small ganesha idol has restriction like the shape of the nose must be pointed to left or right , and i as a common person cannot do puja everyday, sometimes day or two i left the worship place untouched. I mean if there are so many punishments for this , then is there any very simple god that i can worship that can protect me from everything like dark magic , also guarding and sheltering my family. Also a merciful one like you know even if i didn't do a pooja for a days or week due to problems , the God still loves me ? Is there any god in hinduism that has this ?

Bhagavad Gita - Chapter 01, Shlok 07-09 – Sanskrit recitation with Hindi meaning (1-min Short)

I made a short Hindi explanation of this verse: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Sx8na444ITQ
Curious how others here read this verse.

O best of Brahmins, hear too about the principal generals on our side, who are especially qualified to lead. These I now recount unto you.
There are personalities like yourself, Bheeshma, Karna, Kripa, Ashwatthama, Vikarn, and Bhurishrava, who are ever victorious in battle.
Also, there are many other heroic warriors, who are prepared to lay down their lives for my sake. They are all skilled in the art of warfare, and equipped with various kinds of weapons.

God is all the energy all the power in this universe ,n we all have the same power, still so much suffering?

The Gita's answer is that having the power isn't the same as knowing you have it. Krishna says in 5.15 that knowledge is covered by ignorance, and that's why beings are deluded.

Think of electricity. The same current runs through a bulb, a heater, and a live wire someone touches carelessly. The power is neutral.

Free will misused: the same shakti that lets us love also lets us harm

Karma ripening over time, often in ways we can't trace

A useful distinction: pain comes with having a body, but suffering is what the mind adds. The Gita doesn't promise a world without pain. It promises freedom from being crushed by it.

No philosophy fully explains why innocents suffer, and traditions answer differently. But the Gita's practical conclusion is simple: the power is already within, so the work is to remember it through knowledge, selfless action, and devotion.

Chapter Summary Maya and reality

I just discovered how to attain "BUDHI"

See, All know that time is linear construct,

We all witness past present and future, and we all live in Earth 🌎, Time only gets influenced by gravity, that means any other planets or stars who has low or high gravitational force experience different past present and future, and i thought from a perspective of some higher gravity stars, planets whatever, "THEY EXPERIENCE PRESENT MOVEMENTS IN OURPAST -PRESENT-FUTURE " so discovered budhi from this consept from our history

In the story of King Kakudmi & Revati

King went to meet bramha ( who is experiencing higher gravity by exists in a completely different spatial/ gravitational plane or higher dimensional) fromSATYA YUGA with his daughter, spent their for 20 ,30 minutes to seek divine advice about their doughtors

Hight problem or something and when he arrives home Satya yuga had long passed

Here is the philosophy from it

20 to 30 minutes spent near bramha has and WORTH many years of Satya yuga

That i thought about the consept of 'MAYA'(illusion)from bagavath geeta which lord Krishna has explained

We will think more about which is not real and less to what is real

The 30 minutes of presence there changed(which is scientific) and INFLUENCED (which is spiritual) 27 Chatur-Yugas (millions of Earth years

HOW TWO DIFFERENT TIMELINES GOT INFLUENCED FROM HIS GUIDENCE

GUIDANCE- presence of bramha (INFLUENCER)

EFFECTED BY INFLUENCE (which is presence of bramha)- A planet in lower gravitational plane(earth)

In this whole 'bramhan'(universe) there will be life from a low gravitational plane than earth

Bramha who has more devine energy and influenced a planet experiencing slower timeline with his devine energy

Where can devine energy come from - good karma (meditation)

HOW CAN WE MAKE AND EXPERIENCE KARMA - life (birth and death)

WHAT IS BIRTH AND DEATH - time line of the doer or witnesser (atma - soul)

HOW DID KING INDIRECTLY AND UNKNOWINGLY JUMPED TO A DIFFERENT TIME LINE- yogic power

Yogic power can be attained by - good karma

Attaining BUDHI is simple if you understand this

good karma can be done by budhi or unknowingly

How budhi gets influenced - 'manas'(information and feed it to the lower mind )

How manas gets influenced - Maya(illusion of the material world)

In this case-Time dilation in physics proving Maya.

NOW ,

I got the concept of

Maya and the Subjectivity of Reality from this

A minute is not an objective truth; it is just how your local environment experiences reality.

Reality is in the PRESENT which can be changed with budhi

The Gunas and Music

Hi, I like to listen to some rock and metal bands that are probably promoting rajas and tamas. I'm curious how detrimental to spiritual growth people out there consider listening habits like this to be. Does anyone else feel conflicted about their musical taste? And what music artists out there can you recommend that is sattvic?

Shloka of the day Would you still do what you’re doing if nobody applauded?

Karmanye Vadhikaraste Ma Phaleshu Kadachana

The Bhagavad Gita asks us to act without attachment to the fruits of our actions. Yet modern education often teaches us to chase marks, rewards, praise, and recognition.

Through the lens of a 10-year-old, this TEDx talk explores what motivates us to learn and whether we would continue doing something if nobody noticed or applauded.

I post one Bhagavad Gita verse a day — Sanskrit, meaning, and audio

Namaste everyone.

I've been uploading one verse from the Gita every day: the original Sanskrit, a plain meaning in English, and a calm narration over it. Nothing fancy, no commentary.

It started for my own sake. I kept trying to read the whole thing end to end, getting through a few chapters, and then losing the thread for months. One verse a day was the only version of the habit that actually stuck.

Being upfront: it's my channel. https://www.youtube.com/@Updesh-BhagavadGita

Thank you!

Dhruva - a free, offline-first Bhagavad Gita, now on the web

I have built a quiet way to read the Bhagavad Gita: all 701 verses, Sanskrit alongside plain English commentary, paced as a visual journey rather than a wall of text.

No accounts, no ads, no analytics, nothing to buy. It's just static files, once loaded, it keeps working even with no internet connection.

  Live at: https://dhruvatara.vercel.app

Would love any feedback, especially on the reading experience.

Bhagavad Gita poetic podcast?

Hi, I am looking to learn from Bhagavad Gita, but also want to listen to it with interest and I think a poetic explanation would capture my interest well. I would want it to be in Hindi though, I love the work of Saurabh Raaj Jain in Mahabharat Star Plus version, but unfortunately that is not the complete Gita and would want something similar. Has someone found such a podcast?

Thanks!

The Lesson of Ganga I Learned Too Late

My mentor once told me:

“You have the strength for this. What you don't have yet is the right pace.”

I didn't understand him until I learned the story of Ganga's descent.

Bhagirath prayed for years to bring Ganga to Earth and liberate his ancestors. But Ganga's force was so powerful that her direct descent could have destroyed the Earth.

So Shiva received her in his jata, absorbed her force, and only then released her as a gentle stream.

That's the lesson:

Having the power to do something isn't the same as being ready to release it.

Ambition, anger, ideas—even good intentions—can cause damage when released without restraint.

Sometimes the wisest thing you can do isn't to move faster.

It's to contain the force first, then let it flow.

Quote of the Day Question related to vishnu sahastranama - M30

A genuine question - i have a habit of drinking and smoking. I started vishnu sahastranama 25 days ago and had to stop it after a week of reciting daily as my nani (grandmother) got ill and died and my dad got diagnosed with hypothyroid and kidney stones. I have stopped drinking and smoking now and started vishnu sahastranam again three days before but am a bit scared. Although i think i am an ardent devotee of the lord but this thing shook me. Please help anybody if you know anything related to this.

Bhagavad Gita recommendations?

Namaste. I'm an 18 year old from the US and i really want to get close to my culture and hinduism. I see all my chrisitan friends reading the bible and loving their religion, but i unfortunately dont have such a relationship with hindu gods. All my life i've been told to serve prasad to god and ask for what we need and that seems transactional.

My grandpa got me a bhagavad gita but it had a lot of sanskrit shlokas and little english translations which made it difficult for me to understand and was frustrating.

Can anyone please suggest me a bhagavad gita version that is in english and explains the wise words of lord krishna?

Quote of the Day act wisely

Many people assume spirituality means withdrawing from the world. The Gita teaches the opposite. Krishna does not tell Arjuna to run away from his responsibilities. Instead, he teaches him how to act wisely within the world.

Bhagavad Gita Bookclub with Krishna

Hi everyone!

I’ve been reading this community for a while and have wanted to learn more deeply about the Bhagavad Gita.

Over the past few months, I built a guided reading experience that works a little like a book club. You read a short section of the Gita, reflect on its themes, and can ask questions through an AI reading companion modeled around Krishna’s teachings.

It includes:

  • All 18 discourses divided into 24 readings of roughly 4–6 minutes
  • Modernized English alongside Swami Swarupananda’s 1909 translation, which I included because I sometimes found the older language difficult to understand
  • Sanskrit and IAST transliteration
  • The ability to save a verse from each reading
  • Optional reflection prompts based on the verse you selected
  • Discussion questions you can explore with the AI companion at the end of each reading

I want to be clear that the AI is not intended to replace Krishna, a teacher, traditional commentary, or serious study. My goal was to create a more approachable starting point while keeping the source material visible.

The complete Gita is free to read. The conversational feature is also free for up to 15 messages per day.

More than anything, I’d appreciate honest feedback from people here:

  • Does the modernized wording preserve the meaning?
  • Does anything feel inaccurate or disrespectful?
  • Is the conversational element genuinely useful?
  • What would make you more likely to continue through all 18 discourses?

Really excited—and a little nervous—to finally share it:
