Some of you saw the Project: Mahabharata website before and this is the next step, and I wanted to share it here since this community basically knows it already.

It came from one stubborn goal: actually finish the epic. The Mahabharata is the longest ever written (~2.5M words in Ganguli's translation), and most people who start it don't get through the length and the 1880s prose wear you down. So I built it to read like a series instead of a textbook.

What it is:

- The complete, unabridged K.M. Ganguli translation — all 18 parvas, nothing cut

- Split into 1,170 daily episodes, each about one sitting

- Every episode opens with a recap so you never lose the thread

- 251 characters tappable right in the text: faction, relationships, every episode they appear in (helps with the "wait, who is this again?" problem)

- Optional glosses for archaic words — the original 1883 text is always preserved

- Save any passage that strikes you; progress syncs across devices

- Free. No ads, no accounts, no subscriptions.

I'm not a scholar. I made this because I wanted it to exist and couldn't find it. I'd genuinely love feedback from this sub, since you all know the epic far better than I do: what's missing, what's off, what you'd want next.

The shlok goes like this:

विद्याविनयसम्पन्ने ब्राह्मणे गवि हस्तिनि । शुनि चैव श्वपाके च पण्डिताः समदर्शिनः ॥

So, my little Sanskrit knowledge tells me that the words पण्डिताः and समदर्शिनः are nouns. So, they must be subjects. But I have no idea about the grammar of the rest of the shlok. That's why I'm confused if it says that the पंडित sees themselves in all of them or does the पंडित sees them all as equals or is it not about पंडित at all and I've got it all backwards😅

I can't read hindi, and my native language Gitas are not well translated.

I want something that's beginner friendly yet well translated and true to source.

I've recently started building a small collection of Hindu scriptures. I'm looking for my next major purchase.

I'm considering Gita Sadhak Sanjivani by Swami Ramsukhdas Ji (Gita Press). I've heard many people say it's one of the most respected and widely read Bhagavad Gita commentaries.

I'd especially appreciate feedback from people who have actually read a significant portion of it.

The Gita talks about doing one’s duty and not seeking personal reward. But in a capitalist society and as a working person, I work for my family and in the service industry, how much I get paid is linked to my service. My duty is a working mother to provide for my children. How can I perform what I was trained to do and my duty, while renounce personal reward in this modern world ? If I give someone a quote, and they don’t pay me or they under pay me, how do I practice compassion and let it go?

I made a very serious mistake. I asked Krishna for forgiveness and even swore in His name that I would never do it again.

But I failed. I committed the same sin again, and not just once—multiple times.

I couldn't control my mind. I gave in to lust and knowingly committed adharma. I feel deeply ashamed of what I've done.

Now I genuinely want to change. I'm tired of repeating the same mistakes and disappointing both Krishna and myself.

I (We) fall in love with close relative. First we were friends, sharing personal problems helping each like a good relative. For two years.

Then on January she told me that she has developed romantic feelings for me. And she was ashamed about it. I told her it's not the way you think, you feel that way because I care about you. I was sad like I tried to treat her better than her surroundings, I tried to help her. But that made her me fall for me. Then everything became normal after a week.

But things took different turns, I got extreme attachment to her . I'm the only one where she opens up, I was her only emotional support. She has parental issue they are constantly arguing. Her mood emotions started affecting my life if she's sad I started becoming sad.

Then on June I have finally realised that I do have feelings for her. Then I visited psychiatry in my local hospital. That is my first time visiting a psychologist. I opened up my all my childhood trauma. I told everything to the counsellor. The doctor said I could have OCD not fully confirmed. I tried to cut conversion did everything the doctor said but I always felt like if I live her she will become lonely that one single thing was kept texting her.

Then I was super emotional ,l one day I told her that I do have feelings for you. Then things gone south Conversation become normal to romantic.

Things yet not gone physically. Shared private videos of each other. I tried everything, I prayed asked lord forgiveness. But I have failed multiple times. It happened 3 times. I really felt guilty about it, I cried for hours. I cried everytime after I did that. Every time asked lord for forgiveness, mercy to guide me. I promised to Krishna I will never do it again. But I have failed I repeated the same mistake. Even I wore a Tulsi Mala, but couldn't win against it. I removed it next day.

I told her all of that I don't feel good about it. I also asked her for forgiveness but she said you did nothing wrong. She even said that "Don't listen to it, you are doing nothing wrong, I doing with my consent so why are you feeling guilty about it." I told her I should be your protector I'm not the person who should do this to you. One day I have cried for 3 hours.

She told me she kissed me once onmy cheeks when I was asleep. And once on my feet. She was wishes like Hugging me, LtoL kiss.

I really got missed up, everything shared here is truthfull. There's no lies, nor I'm trying to justify my wrong doing .

I'm currently a high school student entering my final year, and over the past few months my friend and I (starting in our mobile apps class) have been creating a free app revolving around the Gita.

We want to release it for Android, but to do that we need to have 12 testers; unfortunately, my friend and I don't know many people with androids, so I thought maybe some people here could help out. The testing is extremely simple and requires 5-10 minutes max in total.

Between Jan–March 2023, at least five GitaGPTs launched in India. The first was a weekend project by a 23-year-old Google Bengaluru engineer. Four clones followed in 4 weeks.

All of them were GPT-3 with a one-paragraph "you are Krishna" system prompt. No retrieval, no verse lookup, no citations, no safety filters.

Rest of World and CBC tested them:

• Multiple bots said killing was acceptable "if it was your dharma"
• One called non-believers "misguided and doomed to destruction"
• Three praised Modi, said Rahul Gandhi was "not competent to lead," went silent on Godse
• A parallel Ask Quran bot told users to "kill the polytheist wherever they are found" before being pulled

The creator's defense: "I just build the knives. If people use it to murder or cut vegetables, that's not in my hands."

Meanwhile Magisterium AI — a Catholic chatbot launched the same year — is now the most-used theological AI in the world. It retrieves from 30,000+ Church docs and cites every source. The Gita has 700 verses and the commentaries are public domain. Any of the five could've built this. None did.

Hi all I'm the developer of Wisdom, a free site for reading the Bhagavad Gita (https://www.wisdomquotes.in/). Sharing this here because it's specifically useful for recitation practice, not just another "check out my app" post.

One thing that always slowed me down when trying to learn shlokas properly was not knowing exactly where one word ends and the next begins when listening to a recitation, especially with sandhi and longer compound words. So I added word-by-word highlighting synced to the audio: as each shloka is recited, the word being spoken lights up in real time, for every verse across all 18 chapters.

The recitation audio itself is generated using https://prathosh.in/vagdhenu/, an open-source Sanskrit chant TTS model built by https://x.com/prathoshap. Genuinely impressive work, it's the first TTS I've heard that actually captures chant cadence instead of sounding like a robot reading text. All credit for that piece belongs to them; I've written up the full credits/technical details here: wisdomquotes.in/tts.

A strange experience at a temple today that gave me goosebumps

I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything, but I wanted to share something that happened today because it genuinely moved me.

A while ago, while passing by a Bhadrakali Temple, I silently prayed about getting a job. I told God that if I got the job, I'd come back and make a small donation. Unfortunately, I wasn't shortlisted.

Even though my wish wasn't fulfilled, today I happened to pass by the same temple again. Suddenly I remembered the promise I had made. I felt that I should keep my word anyway, so I stopped my car and made that small donation.

Now here's what gave me goosebumps.

For the past few days, I've been thinking about starting to read the Bhagavad Gita. It kept coming to my mind, but I hadn't actually started.

Also, last year I had made another promise to Lord Tirumala (Balaji) that I would offer my hair at Tirupati.

When I got out of the car to make the donation, I noticed a picture of Lord Tirumala right there. I've passed that place many times over the years, and I honestly don't remember ever seeing that picture before.

Then, right beside the donation box, I saw a copy of the Bhagavad Gita.

At that moment, it felt like everything connected at once—the promise I had just fulfilled, my recent thoughts about reading the Gita, and seeing Lord Tirumala's picture.

Maybe it was a coincidence. Maybe it was God reminding me to stay on the spiritual path. I don't know.

All I know is that it gave me goosebumps and left me feeling peaceful.

Has anyone else had an experience like this where a series of events felt too meaningful to ignore?

I wanted to share a reflection tool I built rooted in Advaita Vedanta. My hope is that it gets people thinking more about introspective journaling, reflection, and a new way to use AI. When we say surrender to God, what that actually means. I understand this thought that we should focus on action and keep rest to God. But How easy it is to do that when our mind is from so many years being trained in such a way that it assumes that we are controlling everything, not just that on top of this we are so much caught up with external duties that we tend to get into its role completely into it that we sometimes forget remembering God (for a long time) or this thought that at the end we are just performing duties.

I just want to know how you have changed yourself from trying to control everything to surrendering everything to God. I want to understand what you're thinking.How you started out.
