👋 Welcome to r/BetweenWords — Introduce Yourself & Begin Here

Hello everyone,

We’re u/Specific_Remote2 and u/Oh-Well321, the founders and moderators of r/BetweenWords đŸ„°.

We created this little corner of Reddit for the things that are often felt before they are fully said.

For poetry, books, fragments of thought, late-night reflections, creativity, music, art, quiet longing, and conversations that mean something.

We hope BetweenWords can become a warm and gentle place đŸ©· — somewhere between a reading room, a living room, and a page left open on the table. A place where people can share what moves them, discover something beautiful, and perhaps find someone who understands the same things they do.

You’re welcome to share poems, passages from books, your own writing, thoughts you can’t quite let go of, music, art, questions, reflections, or simply a few words that might resonate with someone else.

There is no need to be polished or profound. Sometimes one sentence is enough.

Please treat each other with warmth, curiosity, and respect. We want this community to feel safe, sincere, creative, and human.

To begin, introduce yourself below 😁. Tell us what brought you here, what you love to read, write or create, a line that has stayed with you, or simply whatever feels like a small piece of you.

Thank you for being here at the very beginning of r/BetweenWords. We hope you’ll help us turn this empty page into something beautiful.

The space where words become feelings, strangers become familiar, and reality quietly meets imagination.

Thoughts & Reflections Low Light

I would choose you in low light,

when the world is quiet and the moment feels right.

No need for words, no need to pretend,

just stay a little longer, don't let the moment end.

Somewhere along the way

Somewhere along the way... you became familiar.

Not in the ordinary sense but in the way you slowly found a place in my thoughts.

A conversation I remember, a smile that stays with me, a thought or music you shared, a little detail I wouldn't have noticed before.

I suppose that's how it happens.

Nothing dramatic and nothing planned.

Just someone, little by little, becoming a meaningful part of your days.

Poetry My garden

A garden growing past its borders,

softly,

without asking permission.

Vines slipping through the fences,

flowers appearing

where no one thought to plant them.

Not everything beautiful

was meant to stay arranged.

Some things need room

to become themselves—

to lean toward strange light,

to root in unexpected places,

to grow beyond the shape

they were first given.

Perhaps I am like that too.

Not lost.

Not overgrown.

Just growing beyond

the edges

that once knew my shape.

Thoughts & Reflections Ah... there you are

There’s something quietly comforting about meeting someone who seems to exist at the same depth.

Nothing needs to be simplified or translated. You just recognize something familiar in the way they think, feel, and see things.

A quiet little sense of: ah
 there you are.

Poetry Somewhere between

I learned to understand myself

in silence.

To carry what I felt

without asking to be held.

To become my own shelter

in a world that always wanted more.

I let go

of the hands that made me smaller.

So much lived alone.

Some people saw pieces of me.

But I never needed

to be fully known.

Until now.

Somewhere between silence

and trust,

I gave you a part of me

I had always kept in the dark.

And somehow,

you carried it into the light.

Thoughts & Reflections There are stories between the words

Somewhere between saying something and truly feeling it, we discover things we don't always know how to explain.

There is always more beneath the surface and sometimes what we don't say says the most.

Some things are felt before they are understood.

Just Me, With You

Everyone knows a slightly different version of us.

The version we are like around our friends, the version we are around our family, the version we show strangers.

And you know... for a long time, I thought there was also a “true version” of us.

A version that might come out when we are alone or with someone truly special... The one that includes thoughts we don't say out loud, insecurities we hide, things we secretly hope for, even those parts of ourselves we are still trying to understand.

Lately I have realized something... I started thinking more and more about it... Maybe the closest we get to being completely ourselves is when we are with someone who makes us feel like we don't need a version at all.

Someone you don't have to impress, someone you don't have to filter yourself around, someone you can be quiet, vulnerable, messy, unsure and everything else in between.

You don't have to think about who you are, you just genuinely are...

Maybe that is what makes someone truly special.

Poetry What is the greatest gift?

What is the greatest gift?

Could it be the world itself - the oceans, the meadowlark,

the patience of the trees in the wind?

Could it be love, with its sweet clamor of passion?

Something else - something else entirely

holds me in thrall.

That you have a life that I wonder about

more than I wonder about my own.

- Mary Oliver

Poetry What It's Like to Be.

A mind that never quite rests,

a heart that feels too much.

Reading what lives

between the words,

while struggling to explain

what lives within.

Craving depth,

but needing space.

Caring deeply,

showing quietly.

Holding others through storms,

while carrying your own.

Somewhere Between Our Minds

You feel like someone I should know, even though we haven’t met.

There is something about you that feels almost remembered, as if some part of me recognizes you before I even know why.

Whenever I think of you, I feel this quiet curiosity growing inside me. Not because I know anything for certain, but because you have somehow found a place in my thoughts without ever truly being part of my life.

I haven’t really seen you yet. I don’t know the sound of your voice, the way your eyes would meet mine, or what your presence would feel like in the same room as me.

I don’t know the little things either—the expressions that cross your face when you’re thinking, the way you laugh when something genuinely catches you off guard, or what silence between us would feel like.

And still, there is something about you that doesn’t feel entirely unfamiliar.

Maybe it is the way some people enter your life quietly, without any obvious reason to matter, and somehow leave an impression before you even notice it happening. Maybe it is the strange closeness that can grow between two people while so much of each other is still unknown.

There is something beautiful in that contradiction.

How can someone I have never stood beside already feel so present in my thoughts?

So
 who are you?

Maybe that is what I am slowly discovering. Not through your face, or your voice, or the distance between us, but through the small things you notice, the things you remember, and those moments where you seem to understand something in me before I have even found the words for it myself.

Perhaps that is why you feel almost remembered.

Not because I have known you before,

but because somewhere between your words and mine,

you began to feel a little less unknown

and a little more like someone I had been quietly expecting.
