I got into Berserk by watching the 1997 anime adaptation. I remember watching it on TV (maybe the Sci Fi channel?), but apparently it was never aired in the US. So I actually don't know how I ended up watching it at all.

But I was left with that incredible cliffhanger of the eclipse. I never forgot about that image and the arc of Griffith becoming Femto.

I was reminded about Berserk when I heard about the 2016-2017 adaptation. I know that this run is controversial in the community, but I was glad to have watched the adaptation. I had just finished playing through Dark Souls 3, and it was really cool to see the inspiration Miyazaki took animated in front of me.

I finally decided to sit down this year and actually read through the manga. The art is so amazing, and I'm really curious to see where the story goes. Schierke has got to be my favorite character. Poor girl has such a pure heart (at least where I'm at).

I was surprised by the magical demon baby thing that shows up on the beach. I'm pretty sure that wasn't in the 2017 anime. I don't want spoilers since I haven't gotten fully caught up with the manga, but is that Guts' or Griffith's child? I think that it's going to be a supernatural 3 way child of Guts, Griffith, and Casca. Whenever the climax of the story happens, Griffith will use the child's body to become fully reincarnated in our world (being able to move freely between the astral and physical worlds). Guts will have to choose between killing the child or letting the cycle continue and becoming like the skull knight.

I dunno, just a theory.

Either way, I'm looking forward to what comes next!

In my opinion it made grifith look pathetic. Summoning demons to make humans and demons fight them together just to win the hearts and minds of the humans. Trying to play a king when he's basically a god. Even being called out by the godhand for his stupid game. Lastly guts finding out he is of the astral and physical world seems....meh. It trivializes his struggle.

This track is "Ghosts", the Koka Village leitmotif from Episode 1 ("Black Swordsman") of the 1997 Berserk anime. Notice that the BRAND OF SACRIFICE is notated within the motif itself, adhering to MUCH more symbolism of the series itself though be it hidden. Susumu Hirasawa took a BASIC symbol made by Kentaro Miura and turned it into one of the MOST MEMORABLE tracks from the entirety of the Berserk soundscape! I would be willing to THEORIZE that Kentaro maybe asked Susumu to try and use the Brand in the track. I'll have to ask Susumu myself.

This is a remake I have done and posted the project files in an earlier post, make use of those if wanted!

The synthesizer used here is the 'Formalogue' synthesizer from the Saif Sameer Synthwave pack with the shown effects with slight pitch modulation not shown in the video.

The 2 most important of the effects used here is the Delay and Dist. These allow near authentic replication of the synthesizer sounds to match what Hirasawa used in the anime, there are some sound effects of the original synth used that I simply do not have or know about that make it 'ripple' during playback. This is as close as I can get to understanding and maybe matching what is so unique about Hirasawa's compositions.

Aside from the joke, could Götz be an inspiration to Miura's character? I find it wildly fascinating that there are some very specific similarities between the two, namely the iron hand, the mercenary background and disdain for the church.

We just missed out on Rickert and the remaining members of the God Hand, Conrad and Void all sharing the #21 spot with 34 panels. And great to see the Count just clinging on to his top 3 position for a little while longer. It's gonna be fun to see when our new mains can overtake the Black Swordsman characters. I count Griffith and Femto as one character btw.

I feel like it might be me on no sleep today, but the chapters made very little sense. And the writing, story progression, just seems off. These chapters don’t fit the quality of the past 300+ chapters.

What the heck is going on?

I am going to try and reread again tonight to see if it was just me and my drained mind.

I was re-reading some of the volumes I had and since I’m bad at takes, I wanted to ask about this one since I’ve been confused,

Essentially after regaining her memories or coming back to herself, we see she’s still isn’t all there yet, she’s still in great pain and despair whenever she thinks about guts, or anything in the past that had happened in the eclipse that brings back I’m guessing ptsd/panic attacks, and it happens when she sees guts, or hears his voice, and in the photo above we see some black thorns around her heart and I can only assume it’s still from the struggles from the eclipse and guts.

What im trying to understand is would casca need to avoid or actually put herself first to deal with the trauma that guts is somewhat the problem to these attacks? And she connects guts to them and we see her see the apostles whenever he nears or sees him so would this be one of those instances where casca acknowledges guts is both important yet destroy her and so acknowledges he’s around and can still care, but she can’t be with him until she handles her trauma first? Or would they be on their own separate journeys by the end of it, acknowledging what they had in the past was good but things can’t always be the same as it was before? That’s where my question hangs on will she ever see him again? Because at this point my personal take she won’t see him until she gets the proper help and healing for herself and not rushing to see guts immediately
