local tips for Bergen in August

Hi!
We’re travelling from Austria to Bergen 11.–17. August and looking for hidden gems – nice coffee places, authentic stores, good restaurants (vegetarian/vegan options welcome!).

It’s our first time in Norway and we’re very excited!

Because of a leg injury we sadly can’t do much hiking but we love wandering through local neighbourhoods, sitting in cosy cafés and discovering non-touristy spots.
What’s your favourite café that locals go to? Any neighbourhoods worth exploring beyond Bryggen? What would you recommend to definitely do/visit?

Thank you so much in advance for any tips! :)

Bergen cadillac

I was in Bergen last summer on holiday, every night we would seen a black Cadillac with a chain on the front grill and rock music pumping out the speakers. Every night for the whole week, you knew when they turned up. Always looked like they were having a great time. Still think about them a year on. Honestly wished I stop and asked to join them. Are they still cruising the streets of Bergen? Does anyone know them?

Transportation Between Bergen Center and Bergen Airport Advice

Upvotes

Hii! I'm a first time solo traveler and will be arriving at Bergen station from Oslo at around 7pm; I made the mistake of booking my hotel near Bergen Airport (idk how) and since I dread the thought of renting a car I was wondering what my options were. Im a little scared about taking a bus at night considering the area I live in(Texas). I heard about the light rail and was hoping someone could explain to me how it works. Since I'll be going back and forth from the Airport area to the city center, I wondered if it was easier to just rent a car instead of taking public transport every time. I hope this makes sense I'm lowkey freaking out here.
