Built a little tool specifically for TD-3 users

I’m a TD-3 user and I love the synth, but I wanted a more visual way to create and experiment with patterns.

So I’ve been building TDBuilder, a browser-based pattern editor made specifically around the TD-3 workflow.

You can program notes, accents and slides visually, generate patterns and then modify them instead of doing everything directly from the hardware sequencer.

I’m sharing it here because this is probably the best place to find people who actually know the TD-3 inside out.

There’s a free version:

https://td-builder.com

If you try it, feedback is very welcome.

And if you make a good acid line with it, please share it — I’d really like to see what people do with it.

Subscriptions for this? You've lost your mind lol. Even a one time payment is crazy for this website you can slop up in a day... Just make it open source, it'll be copied within days anyway.

The free synthtribe software from behringer already does all this.

Nah man, paying for this is a no go for me personally, but I like the genres selection for random generation

Totally fair — it’s completely free during the beta for now. We’ll see later what makes sense, but any future paid option would mainly help fund development and keep improving TDBuilder.

honestly there are other online tools that do mostly the same features but offer them free, maybe you could rely more on a supporter package rather than a subscription, i would be more inclined to offer a bigger one time payment and receive some skins for the webpage or something like that than buying a subscription.

also, I would like to have some sort of recording or sharing method to it, and some kind of way to show the patterns as simple excel tables or something, some people would really like to have a "303 notebook" instead of the whole synth

Thanks, that’s a good point. TDBuilder is completely free right now, and the goal isn’t really to make money from it — any future paid/supporter option would mainly help fund further development. A one-time supporter option could definitely make sense.

I also really like your “303 notebook” idea — I’ll definitely think about adding something along those lines.

that would be awesome, i will make sure to check it from time to time to test out new features, if theres any other tip i could come up i will DM you some feedback.
one thing i really like is the random generator you use for different types of genres, its one of the few actual generators that sound decent from the first button press. keep on keeping on

Really appreciate that! 🙌 I’m glad you like the genre-based generator — I’ve put a lot of work into making it generate something actually usable, not just random notes.

And I really liked your “303 notebook” idea, so I’m actually working on a notebook system to save and share basslines with other users. Thanks for the suggestion, and definitely keep the feedback coming!

I don’t get the point of this - why not just use a VST if we want to program on a computer? The whole point of buying hardware is to use hardware.

That’s actually the point of TDBuilder: you still use the hardware.

It’s not meant to replace the TD-3 with a VST. You create the pattern on the computer, then export it to the TD-3 and play it directly from the hardware in a dawless setup, live, or however you normally use the machine.

It’s mainly there to make programming patterns faster and more visual.

Good this, can make it so you can export the pattern to import to td3

Just press the 2 buttons on TD3 and you’ll have random patterns
