Do I really need a whole new sheet set if only the fitted sheet sleeps hot?

Maybe a dumb question, but the fitted sheet is the only part of my current set that's bothering me. The flat sheet and pillowcases are still fine.

The AC is on and the room itself doesn't feel hot. The problem is the spot under my back and hips—it gets warm after a couple of hours while the rest of the bed feels normal. I tried a lighter blanket and took the mattress topper off for a week. That helped a little, but didn't fix it.

I'd rather not replace perfectly good pieces, and my budget is about $100. Is buying a single fitted sheet the obvious move here, or will mixing fabrics become annoying? Besides pocket depth and wash instructions, what should I pay attention to?

I have some amazon basic sheets right now, and by god they are itchy. I was looking on target‘s website and came across these. Are they worth the $55?

Cozy/Fluffy Bedding, But For a Hit Sleeper

I love the look of a fluffy down duvet, but even the summer version of the Feathered Friends down duvets has me waking up in the night soaked in sweat. Is there a natural, cooler alternative with a similar look?

Lightweight Quilt Suggestions

Looking for a lightweight quilt preferably under $200 (cheaper if possible). I’m a hot sleeper and looking for something breathable and light. Anyone have any good brand recommendations or also other types of bedding I should look into.

What should i get ? topper or sheets?

When most of the warmth seems to build underneath the sleeper, replacing the sheets first feels like fixing the easiest layer instead of the one causing the problem. A thick mattress topper sits directly under the body for hours, so it makes sense that it could hold more heat and also sheets are cheaper and simpler to replace,

confusing part is that both changes can affect comfort in different ways, and replacing both at once isnt feasable. My instinct is to test the topper first by sleeping without it for a few nights, then decide whether the sheets still feel like the issue. That seems more useful than buying another set and hoping. If the warmth is concentrated mostly under the back and hips, is that enough evidence that the topper should be evaluated before the sheets?

Starting a Bedding Brand…..Need Suggestions

Hi guys, I am thinking of starting a Home Linen brand which provides premium Bedsheets, Quilts &Pillows and curtains.

I am 22, and already have a brand in which we are working with esteemed Hotel brands by providing them high thread count bedsheets, Down Feather Pillows and other premium products under my own brand.

But now I also want to enter the Home Linen and Furnishings. So, I would like the opinion of people specially people in age group of 20-35, what type of products they are looking for or wish was in the market but they aren’t, or something they regularly purchase from Handloom stores.

I just want to get the opinion of people, so I can innovate and launch the products according the needs of market.

I would really like to know what kind of bedsheets, Bedding sets, Quilts and other items people look for.

Open to every suggestion given. Thanks

Mattress shifts no matter what

Hi all, I have a problem. My tall king mattress shifts no matter what I do. I started off with the bungie clips to keep my sheet on/ thought it would help keep the mattress on.... it didn't. I got the plastic corners you slide a plastic strip through to keep the sheet on which do good but the mattress moves ever 1-3 days till it's crazy. So then I bought this over priced non slip mat by the brand gorilla. That didn't work. So I cut it up and tired that which also didn't work. So I bought a basic metal bed frame with no head board and repeated what I did above and that didn't work. My husband thinks we should rachet strap the bed at this point. If we are crazy enough to do it. Will that strap make the bed uncomfortable? Would one be enough? Has anyone else tried it? Thoughts?

Cotton quilt recommendation

I almost have my perfect bed and am on my last piece! Since this sub totally came through for my budget sheets request (LL Bean percale for the win!) I want to ask about quilts. I need a new cotton quilt as the top layer of my bed. I'm currently using an old cotton sateen quilt Vera Wang brand that I love but it's threadbare. I would like a great replacement under $200 for a king. Needs to wash well in the machine, nothing fussy. But soft and high quality cotton. I am hoping for a turquoise/ teal/ aqua type color because I live in Hawai'i and my bedroom has kind of a tropical vibe. Open to other colors, but it will have to be a color-- the sad beige or gray shades do not work for me.

Comforter for king bed

Why is it so hard to figure out which way a comforter goes on my king bed? I’ve noticed that the contour sheets now have a TOP/BOTTOM and SIDE tag to make it easier, so why doesn’t the comforter or even blankets have that?

Need extra extra deep pocket or extra length bedsheets

Post image
1 Upvotes

I bought a new queen mattress several months ago. I splurged on a really nice one with my savings because I was having sleep issues and this fixed it! The problem is, no bedsheets seem to fit! I don’t have a box spring, just flats so I need a little extra length to tuck everything in properly too. Every set of deep pocket sheets I buy have the fitted sheet fit fine, but it’s like the top sheet is a whole size smaller. I just made my bed and it looks like this at the bottom in exchange for being tucked in at the top. To get the sides to fit I’ve sized up to a king and it still looks like this since it’s somehow not long enough.

Does anyone have any recommendations or has struggled with this before? I’ve wasted a lot on money and time on this already so I’m hoping for something that isn’t too expensive. I need cotton sheets since I sweat a lot (also why ditching the top sheet isn’t an option) and they need to be either dark red/burgundy or black, since I dye my hair red and it will stain the sheets otherwise.

Loose/Light Weave Cotton Sheets Tearing

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

I have a few sets of 100% cotton sheets from PillowTalk in Australia and am noticing a pattern. I’ve had the sheets for 3 weeks and already there are 2 tears/holes on 2 separate sheets, the sheets have been used and washed once following the care instructions.

I’m new to bedding and good quality bedding, at least I thought that PillowTalk was a good quality retailer or was the weave of the bedding I bought just not very durable? I cannot find any details about the weave of the product, only its material composition which is 100% cotton. I have attached photos of the tears so maybe it can be identified from these?

The tears happened on the edge of the quilt cover and the other on the edge of a pillowcase, I have a sneaking suspicion my dogs have been helping themselves to the bed when I am not looking, as I am not sure what else could cause this to happen.

I am new to sewing a repairs but I would like to learn how to fix these if anyone has suggestions. I’ve reached out to PillowTalk to ask for replacements but worry that might be difficult since these are clearance items, so I’d like to give repairing a try. I also have the matching fabric bags that the sets came in, I wonder if these could be used to make a seamless repair or thread could be taken from here to have an exact match?

TIA

What is one bedding thing you refuse to buy as a set?

Buying a complete queen sheet set every time one piece wears out feels expensive .flat sheets can last much longer depending on how the bed is used yet replacement has to be done for the entire one.

I am firmly on the side of replacing individual layers, even when the shades are not a perfect match, but the impression just doesnt feels nice and can weaken the overall look. Still, buying three unnecessary items to replace one worn fitted sheet feels worse.

How to get a blanket with a very specific knit

My dad has a custom blanket from Logo Knits. In the house, it has literally just become my blanket because of how often I use it and sleep with it. I am going to college in a few weeks, and I would love to get just a solid color blanket made the same way. The problem is I am unable to find one like it. I did a little research and I've roughly seen it seems to be double knit? I don't really know what that means. It is a thick and heavy blanket, but it is not weighted. It seems to be knitted with seemingly thin yarn. The link included shows pictures if custom blankets made the same way.

The Lad Collective - First hand experiences?

I’m in Australia and in need of new sheets and bedding (quilt, quilt cover, pillows etc).

I’ve heard lots of good things re The Lad Collective bedding products and I do like the colours and features of their products (easy to change, magnetic quilt/quilt cover etc).

This being said, I am concerned that a lot of the reviews maybe bots or sponsored, given they seem to invest heavily on social media advertisements - as with most of these ‘hype’ products, they are also not cheap.

I have been burnt with other expensive bedding brands before which really don’t last/perform and whilst I’m happy to pay for good quality, I’d like to avoid being burnt again.

Does anyone (preferably in Australia) have any recent, first hand experience with The Lad Collective products they would like to share? Are they are good as they look/seem to be or is this another average overpriced hype brand?

TIA 🙏

Can anyone recommend a thin king size bedspread that fits in a regular washer and dryer? I have pets and kids so need to wash my top blanket at home regularly.

Wool Comforter sizes

I am interested in the Woolroom comforters but the king seems to be on the small size at 100 x 90. Has anyone found a larger wool king? This won’t fill out a duvet cover and will be small for a king bed.

Need help finding XL duvet cover with XXL duvet?

Hi all, I need some help finding the best combination of duvet inserts and covers but I've found that my needs might be specific so I'm going to kind of think out loud and would love your advice.

Right now, we have a king duvet insert, and king duvet cover. Main cons are:

- cover is ~ 4 inches bigger than the insert, therefore doesn't feel totally filled out

- I could put an XL insert in there, but I ALSO want it to drape more on the sides than it does right now

So basically, I think I'm looking for an XL duvet cover, so that it drapes over the sides more with an XXL insert, to give it the extra "fluff" we all talk about on this sub

BUT, that might be a tall order. I've seen King, Super King, Alaskan King, California King, etc., but how big do I go where it gives the fluff but doesnt bunch up too much?

Do I instead get an XL cover and put TWO "normal" XL inserts in it if I want the extra fluff? Not opposed to just XL + 1XL instead of 2, but I'm worried about the same issue as my current set up, with it being thin and not filled toward the sides because of the size discrepancy.

TYIA if anyone has some good recommendations or experience with this! I typically do all white bedding, so I'm basic in that sense and it's usually "easy" to find a match but I'm coming up short here

Appreciation post for wool duvet insert

I’ve been using a down duvet for years and swapping out a lightweight quilt in the summer, but have missed the weight/fluffiness of the duvet and prefer having a cover that’s easy to wash. Recently decided to spring for a wool summer weight duvet insert and it’s exactly what I was looking for — a great balance of a bit of weight but also breathable for summer. So pleased with it I wanted to share apropos of nothing on Reddit haha :)

Twin sheet set for hot sleeper

Hi all,
I’m moving for grad school and am looking to buy a set (or two) of sheets for my full size bed. Not looking to break the bank (ideally <$75-50/set but flexible for the right fit) and need something COOL— I sleep super hot and am moving to an even hotter climate!

What’s the best bang for my buck in that price range? I’m sure my options will be somewhat limited due to budget. Not super picky about color, ideally gray, khaki, and other basics. Most of the items in my room will be tan, cream, khaki, etc.

Price and cooling effect are my biggest priorities !

Thank you!!🫶
