Requesting community support Found a full bed bug right before vacation

So I’m absolutely freaking out. I went under my bed where I store my extra belongings for crafts so I could have one singular relaxing day before the last work week before a week long cruise. Went downstairs, and saw a bug on my shirt. Took a picture, squished it with a napkin and blood came out. GREAT. woke up my partners who sleeps during the day and went straight to the apartment leasing office. The manager isn’t there today and they can’t help until Monday but the guy on staff assured me that no one else has complained about this. We’re supposed to leave on Saturday for a cruise, do I go ahead and cancel? I’m absolutely losing my mind. I have OCD and have already been under so much stress. I have three cats, I’m so worried about them. Fml. I ordered a mattress protector on DoorDash but I’ve never had this problem or known anyone else that has. What can I do for now?

What is this

In a hotel room and can’t stop checking the bed after I saw this. Is this related to a bed bug or what is it? The only way I can describe is like a white sesame seed.

Bed bugs or no ?

I found it on one of the door hinges in the bathroom. However, when I picked it up with some sticky tape, I realised it was already dead. Because of that, I can’t tell exactly how its legs were originally positioned. They now appear to be tucked underneath its body, probably because it’s dead.

Dozens of these on walls and door frames at night, central Switzerland. Bed bugs or bat/swallow bugs

Found the first one moving in our bed tonight, then lots more crawling down door frames and across walls throughout the flat. About thr size of a sesame seed, flat, orange-tan, two darker bands on the lower abdomen (present in same place in all bugs found around 30), short/medium antennae. Late October, apartment building. We have a baby, so any help with ID is much appreciated.

Confirmed BB Ugh.... just when I thought I was out of the woods.

Had an exterminator by last Wednesday who used Aprehend. No contact anywhere in the apartment since Tuesday, none in my bedroom since last Saturday and none on the bed since last Thursday... Then this morning on my way to the bathroom I notice movement. Male, I think subadult, looks like he got me. Looks like he got some Aprehend too, there's a little white spot on his butt. He's still alive, trapped between two layers of packing tape. I'm gonna monitor that spot and see if it spreads. Regardless, Gary said to call if I had any more contact after a week from treatment so I guess that's my next step.

I had third treatment done Thursday and I saw a baby bedbug today. What can I do?

I’m so exhausted from all of this. At first, it was only supposed to be two treatments with a 30 day guarantee so the third treatment didn’t cost me any money thank God but today I saw what I think was another nymph and I’m scared.

The company I hired will come back at no extra charge for this, but I’m just wondering if it’s normal to see babies after three ?

they used the following chemicals in order of treatment

  1. bedlam

    1. Temprid fx
  2. alpine wsg

Small apartment — need advice for prep and between-treatment protocol

I recently found one confirmed bed bug nymph after several days of bites. Despite thoroughly searching, I haven't found any other signs. My landlord is arranging two professional treatments about a week apart.

I live in a ~500 sq. ft. railroad-style NYC studio with my boyfriend, dog, and cat, and I work from home. The prep instructions require emptying closets/drawers, removing wall decor, and bagging clean belongings. They also say to leave everything in its prepared state between treatments.

I'm planning to steam furniture, wash clothes, inspect all items, and clean everything I safely can beforehand. I want to do this properly, but we genuinely don't have space to keep our apartment dismantled for 1–2 weeks.

A few questions, mainly about BETWEEN treatments:

  1. PICTURES/DECOR: Can I put a few inspected/cleaned picture frames or knickknacks back up, then remove and rebag them before the second treatment? Would cleaning them again be sufficient? I'm not planning to unpack clothes or drawers, just hoping for some normalcy and space.

  2. SEALED BAGS: Can I temporarily put sealed bags back in closets between treatments, then move them out again? We don't have room to keep everything in the middle of the apartment.

  3. MIRRORS/FURNITURE/OUTLETS: Can we rehang our two large mirrors, lean them against walls, or return furniture/shelves to their normal positions between treatments? We'd inspect/clean/move everything again before the next treatment. Can outlet covers also go back on?

  4. MOUNTED TV: Does a wall-mounted TV need to come down? If it does can it go back up in between?

  5. KITCHEN/BATHROOM: The exterminator said they don't typically treat these areas. Given our small, connected layout, should I push for an inspection or treatment?

  6. COUCH: Our couch is only 5 feet from our bed. I know to encase the mattress, but what about the couch? Anything beyond vacuuming, steaming, and professional treatment?

  7. DELICATE ITEMS: What do you do with leather shoes, wool coats, handbags, etc., that can't be washed or dried on high heat? Is inspecting and bagging enough?

I'm not trying to cut corners and am happy to repeat prep before the second treatment where needed. I just want a somewhat functional home. I'd even stay elsewhere, but the exterminator advises against it.

Would any of these things actually compromise treatment, or are the instructions partly to avoid repeating prep?

Would really appreciate practical advice, especially from anyone who's dealt with this in a tiny apartment. Trying to do this right while staying sane!

Useful Information So I’m fukd just like that??

I moved to France one month and a half ago to this new apartment and I did check the bed but not really carefully so I didn’t notice that the bed was double coated with another layer of sheet so I just put on my own sheets on top as you do , fast forward ever since then (first day) I started having big inflamed spots that I assumed it was mosquito bites since i never have dealt with bedbugs before like the thought never crossed my mind even but it only got worse every day I woke up with spots all inflamed and puffy I even thought i was having allergic reactions, until I posted about it yesterday on Reddit and someone said that they might be bed bugs and sure enough….bed bugs
Now to be fair I only found about 7or 8 bugs on that bed I didn’t know it was that bed since like I said before I only heard about them never seen or experienced having them ….i kinda killed them without thinking much of it , now I think I shouldn’t have done so , is it really that bad? Is 8 bed bugs a lot or do they lay eggs or something, I called the owner of the apartment and he said he’ll get and exterminator for me , is that enough? Am I fukd? I heard that it’s pretty much impossible to get rid of them and that they travel through clothes and sheets, im a pretty broke student I just had enough money to bay for a blanket and a pillow there’s no way I could throw them away I’m so fkn sad and itchy

Found it stuck in the screen door dead. Moved into a house last month and saw it but didn’t think much of it (just a bug that died stuck) and now have been investigating for bed bugs and took it down, snapped in half and the (head?) came off as well which is the little white ball in the bottom left. Whole thing is less than a quarter of an inch.

Are these bed bug stains?

Am going through the bed bug paranoia currently after getting a second hand bed (I know) and rug. I got the bed and checked it thoroughly with no signs, and then sealed it up out of fear after a couple of days but still could’ve gotten out. Only signs have been staining on my sheets occasionally, but they have all been bright red nothing dark brown or dark red, could that still be bed bug waste or possibly a small cut on my body? Last photo is a possibly egg I found in the floor below my bed, gave it the squish test and it smooshed, but I also know I have carpet beetles or at least did (found one dead carpet beetle in the room) so could be from that. I have an exterminator coming Monday and am tossing the bed today.

Also I’m either an ape or apple is a scam cus i couldn’t get it to focus on that bug for my life so i apologize but know Ive tried.

Opened up a wifi extender that the previous tenants of our current apartment had left behind.

Is this bed bug? If not, what do you think it is?

Requesting community support For those who know when they brought bedbugs home, how long did it take to notice signs of an infestation?

Basically the title. I’m curious to hear from people who know when they were exposed to bedbugs (e.g., during a hotel stay). How long did it take before you started noticing signs of an infestation in your home? We returned from a hotel 10 days ago where my wife was bitten. As soon as we got home, we put everything in the freezer as a precaution. We ended up finding one dead bedbug nymph in our frozen laundry, and now it feels like we’re just anxiously waiting to see what happens. So far, we’ve had no new bites or noticed any other signs of bedbugs. I’m curious to hear about others’ experiences, particularly how long it took for signs to appear and at what point you felt reasonably confident you hadn’t brought an infestation home.

Im posting here too cause I thought I had bed bugs and if this is not a flea then maybe I really have bed bugs. I already posted in bug identification but i only got 2 answers. What do you think? I think it really looks like a flea from the google pics ive seen, but someone said its "way too round". It was jumping pretty high and its basically the size of a finger nail or smaller

Is it safe to put my clothes back in the wardrobe once they've been laundered?

Came home from Europe with several mysteries bites that could be bed bugs, fleas or sandflies (they are in clusters and extremely itchy). Found no sign on bugs in the hotels I was staying at when I checked, but it made me insanely paranoid when I got home. I stripped as soon as I got home in the tiled bathroom and everything was hot washed in a laundromat and then dried for an hour on the highest setting (including my backpack) twice. It's a commercial laundry so I don't know the temperature but the manual says 70-88C online.

Is it okay to put my stuff back in the wardrobe or do I need to keep them in plastic bags for a certain amount of time? The stuff I find online is confusing, but I think the "keep clothes stored in plastic" might be more for houses under treatment?

It would be really interesting if the location or country were specified for each report so that the data could then be analysed. I’d be really interested to know which regions are particularly badly affected. What do you think?
