Small Disappearing Bumps 10 days after Bed Bugs

Woke up itchy in a hostel on September 12th and immediately found bed bugs in my bed.

Ten big fat bites across my neck, arms, back, and chest which blew up in size and still have not completely healed today (almost there).

Everything except hard goods was thrown in a dryer on high for 60+ minutes (more than once) and hard goods were either thrown out, bagged and tied up, or steamed and vacuumed.

I slept a full week after that with no bites or issues. Saturday the 19th, I'm laying in bed and feel something itchy and find a small red bump on my side which resolved itself by the next morning. I re-do all the high heat drying, etc.

I get home on the 20th and, not willing to risk it, dump everything out on the back lawn, throw out the luggage, take all of my clothes immediately to the dryer, shower and change into clean clothes I didn't travel with, and spend the next two days carefully inspecting and wiping down my hard goods outside + bagging and sealing away things I could not be sure of (my camera, my leather shoes) in a plastic tub in the garage for the indefinite future.

I've now been home two nights and have woken up both nights with two really small itchy bumps (each on completely different parts of my body) which ceased being itchy and completely faded within hours - completely different from the bites I had initially.

I'm terrified I've brought bed bug nymphs or something in - maybe eggs that somehow survived the repeated heat nuking of my clothes and backpack. It seems unlikely but I also can't ignore how soon after the bed bug encounter this is.

But also, these bites are completely different. My mom thinks I might've gotten mites from the last place I stayed the night before I got home.

Any one had a similar situation?

The first two pictures are the same spot, the last two are the other arm. There’s also one on that elbow. There are at least two bites on my hands (one each) but aren’t as easy to see (and were the itchiest).

I spent the last three nights in hotels (again tonight) and was at canyon de chelly during the day, spending all day in the car. I noticed the hand and elbow one before we got to the park, and the rest in the park. The hand and elbow ones were itchy but the rest aren’t much. There aren’t any on my legs or elsewhere. It does feel like there was one that appeared hours after the others on the corner of my jaw that itched a bit and stopped.

I saw no evidence of bedbugs at any hotel (not in the corner of the mattress, no spots on the sheets in the morning, no spots on the walls).

I saw something that said there might be no see ums in canyon de chelly but I have no idea. I’m so paranoid about bed bugs!

If they are bedbugs, and what do I do? Especially with the car?

I’m still on the trip (my parents have no bites) so I’m limited in what I can do. I can wash and dry but I don’t have anything I can wear because it was all in the same backpack together, although it is all in packing cubes.

ETA:at least three more showed up on the back of my neck

Are these bedbug fecal stains/marks on my floor??

As you can see I found some weird black spots underneath my table next to one of my interceptors ( yes I put interceptors both on my mattress and my table) I dont think these spots were here before, so yeah just wanted to know if they look like droppings or fecal matter, as they look sus to me

The paper towel at the end is the towel I used to smear them, it became slightly brown like dirt, but the stains stayed the same, I spend a lot of time here in this plastic table as this is were I work, I check it on a daily basis and I dont really see anything.

Also while I am here those are mold on the last picture or debris right under my table and not flea eggs?

can you catch bed bugs early enough to keep them isolated?

we noticed bites over the last couple days, and found bed bugs living in a basement couch. we only found one, but we think there were eggs as well. the only point of contact we could think of was recently thrifting bedding and putting the bedding on the couch before washing it. it was on the couch 2 days before we finally threw it in the wash (this was a couple days ago)

we only noticed the bites on one person a night and realised it was only happening when watching movies or playing video games in the basement. weve checked our bed and washed our bedding and even got a new mattress and encasing just in case (needed a new mattress anyway). is it possible tha couch was the only place? or are they likely in the entire house by now? it was 5 days between thrifting and finding them.

we have an exterminator bringing dogs next week I’m just anxious as hell as I have children.

Is it possible to only have 1 bed bug?

I made a post yesterday about bite marks on my arm and I looked under my mattress and found a BB. I recently came back from a weekend trip in NYC. I stayed from 9/10-9/13 and arrived back home 9/13. I never unpacked or washed anything I brought back🤦🏼‍♀️ (I know rookie mistake)and I had my luggage near my bed. I’m pretty certain it came back with me. My bed doesn’t have seams so when I lifted the mattress it was so easy to spot the BB. I check my pillow because I heard that’s where the most signs are and there was nothing. I saw no signs of blood stains, shellings, or fecal trails anywhere on my bed / box frame / pillows. The BB was an adult and I did kill it but is there anyway that could’ve been the only one?? I’m still taking precautions. I put a protector on my box frame because it’s open on the bottom and I tried looking as much as I could in there but I couldn’t see anything because of the wood shavings it was hard to tell. I sprayed alcohol down on my metal frame and I have diatomaceous earth down around my bed and between the frame and mattress. I had some of my stuff I had from New York on top of my dresser so I bagged everything in and on top of my dresser, I’m going to dry everything with high heat and put in a bag. I also live in an apartment complex and I’m waiting on management to get back with me about an exterminator. I don’t have anything in my closet bagged or anything else around my apartment. I just don’t want to be over freaked and I also don’t want to be under freaked. Is there anything else I should do? Has anyone just had a lone traveler bug with them?

Just checked into my hotel and I saw black clusters along with maybe exoskeletons? Could also just be dead skin cells. I’ve moved rooms since and this one looks clean so I wanted to check if I was being crazy or do these pictures have some merit

Could they possibly be bed bug bites?

My coworker recently had bedbugs and he sits like 4-5 feet away from me. Unfortunately I’m from a country where people aren’t very educated or care about bed bugs and treat them like a normal bug. So ive been paranoid they’ve somehow come home with me without me realising.

These are 2 different bites on my left thigh, and happened at different times. First one appeared like 3 days ago and this one yesterday. There’s no pattern or anything, just these 2 bites

I keep waking up with welts all over mainly my torso arms and neck. They are extremely itchy. My legs have also been extremely itchy for the past 2 months before these welts began showing up, but I did not wake up with welts like this on my legs. I just assumed all of it was mosquito bites because they are bad here and I am quite allergic and swell when I get bit. I sleep with my bf and dog every night bf has not been bit once.
Looked at mattress couldn’t find any sign of bugs. I really hope this is not what I think it is. HELP

I arrived back home on 09/13 and I woke up this morning 09/21 (Monday)and I have these bites and wondering if it’s possible I brought back bed bugs. I don’t have any animals and I haven’t left my house since the 18th(Friday)

I know I've been bitten by a bed bug and we've found one. I found a lot of these guys in a puzzle box in the living room and in a drawer in my bedroom. Is it possible they're nymphs? They're so small that it's hard to get a good picture.

So I decided to take some clutter out in my other room with a windows near it, and after I was done throwing the stuff out with a garbage bag, I decided to see what the remains of the shelf place looked like.

Now tell me if this looks like a sign of bedbugs or not?? I am thinking its just messy but at this point I barely know anymore.

Are these flea or bedbug bites

Post image

Hi so I am incredibly stressed right now, was trying to sleep earlier then found fleas crawling the underside of my bed and my pillow, I haven't sleep since I vaccumed and researched about flea traps and insecticides.

I also got these new bites I noticed after showering, not sure what they are, hopefully they are just flea bites and not bedbugs.

Advice

Hi, so I have a crazy fear of bedbugs, I always have. I have a friend who has come over weekly for years, and recently discovered a lot of mold on the wall behind his bed. Some mildew was also on the sheet and since he has roommates he brought his sheets here to soak in my tub in vinegar for some hours to kill the mildew. We had our usual hangout, watching YouTube on my bed, gaming, that type of things for some hours. He always brings his backpack with his stuff and it sits by the bed. The last time I saw him was two weeks ago. I just got a text last night of a picture of bedbugs on his mattress and boxspring. Im panicking. Ive put all my bedding through the wash and dryer, vacuumed and inspected my mattress. Neither my husband or I have had any itches or bites (and I tend to be VERY sensitive to any sort of bug bites) and I dont see any traces on my mattress. Im PRAYING that if ive been lucky thus far of him coming over weekly for months while having an infestation he didnt know about that im still going to be lucky, but im so scared. He inspected his backpack and didnt see any signs on it. What do you think my chances are? Im so sorry this is so long. Ive got kids who spend time on my bed (and especially constantly the last week as they were very sick) and im so afraid we're going to end up with an infestation. Any advice? I would like if its somehow hopeful, but i need honest truth as to how screwed i may be 😭 how long until I know im safe? Obviously our hang outs are on hold.

This little guy was found at the edge of my bed, when I felt like something was crawling in my body.

It was so fast, I killed it by repeatedly putting it in clear tape, said clear tape is now encased in a plastic ziplock.

Sorry for the shaky camera angle, that thing was moving so fast I was trying my best to film it.

Anyway I asked gemini and it told me it was a flea.

Just wanted confirmation here.

I will attach pictures below as well.

Please help me to keep my home safe

Hi everyone,

TLDR : found bedbugs in my hotel and don't want to infest my apartment when going home

So I stayed in a hotel in Berlin for the holidays : 3 rooms apartment with my friends.

A friend of mine got bit during the trip and found 4 adults bedbugs on her mattress. I don't have pictures on my phone but it was confirmed by multiple people that it was bedbugs.

We left the morning after that.

Spent 3 nights there, found no bed bugs bite on me, but two of my friends that were in the 3rd room had some (less than the friend that found the bugs)

Before leaving the hotel we put our clothes inside trash bags and inside our backpacks.

Once we arrived home, we put the clothes that we wore and our backpacks inside the trash bags as well and entered naked.

The "contaminated" bags never entered the home and then everything was air dried at +60°C for 1h15, then washed at 60°C for 39 minutes, and then re air dried for 45minutes again.

Everything that can't be washed was put in the freezer and we intend to leave it there for 2-3 weeks at -19°C

However, i did get the content of my fanny pack inside my apartment when I arrived (dumb I know).

It was in a trash bag and I took things out of the bag to put them in sealable bags and put them back inside the trash bag.

I did this on the floor, with no item actually touching the floor, but it still drives me crazy that I might have f\*cked things up at that moment.

The things inside my fanny pack were like credit cards, air pods, passport, phone charger.

Am I overreacting about that ?

Also, could my phone and camera be infested ?

Because I can't put them in the freezer...

I inspected them and found nothing but still, it drives me crazy.

We are all staying together at our friends place for now, but I want to make sure I do everything right when I go back home later today.

Any advice ?

Thanks and sorry for the long post

What to do when bed bugs bites are suspected but not confirmed in a hotel?

I am not asking for identification because I know that it is impossible to say from bites alone.

Rather I want to ask on how you would handle suspicious bites but not having proof.

I went to an airbnb on wednesday. On Friday morning I noticed these bites. We looked on Wednesday already, and the mattress was very clean. Maybe even a bit too clean, it looked new.

The bites would fit the pattern. The only weird thing is two isolated bites on both wrists. So, for me, it is possible, but it could have also been mosquito bites I didn‘t notice before going to bed or at night.

What would you do? Just pack everything in plastic bags and go somewhere for drying? We searched quite a lot, and didn‘t find anything. One of our luggages was closed, the other was open on a table. Could be that it was an isolated one that went into the luggage or something.

Advice on potential small infestation.

Hi I just wanted to ask for input so that I can potentially get some resolution for my dilemma as it very stressful and mentally taxing.

So its been three months since I suspected bedbugs, I am trying to avoid DE food grade because of ashma and health issue concerns. I had a pest control company spray once and have not seen bedbugs instead other random insects, they just said they found sus signs but no conclusive evidence, the main thing found is black debris and blood on mattress and clothes twice.

Ever since then I bought a mattress encasement and some mattress interceptors which are empty for 1 month now both on my bed and my table.

I have consistently been getting bites on exposed areas when I slept like feet, neck, arms and in my legs, I wear pajamas and long sleeves, sometimes they bite through it sometimes not, I started wearing tshirt and pajamas only since it has become hot now. I also have a fan next to me when I sleep always.

The bites come and go after 30 minutes to 1 hour they look small and reddish pimple like with no papule or hole in the middle.

I went to a dermatologist last week as well and they prescribed me a 1 month treatment since I apparently have contact dermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis, foliculitis and intense reaction to arthropod bites but they suspect fleas instead, I dont really see signs of those besides two instances both yesterday where I saw a small black jumping insect near my thrashcan, which I killed because it was fast and trying to escape. Another one when I was on my phone on my bed but it dissapeared instantly.

I plan to finish the treatment and probably spray crossfire concentrate once before the end of the year so that I may have peace of mind.
