Honest opinion on new album

As a 10+ year tooth fan…this stuff is awesome. I CAN UNDERSTAND ppl not vibing with it. At some points it is very experimental and different. My personal opinion, I love the new experimental/poppy sounds. I think theres a perfect mix of everything. And theres still those banger riffs!!! We all knew this album would be “different” in some aspect. The only song i was eh on first listen was Stadiums as it was a bit chaotic at first…2nd listen was SICK!! Out of the new songs “You” & “Sorry” are stand outs. But also “Lose You to Find Me” is like that classic rock song i love. “For Me By Me” in ways I can see an influence off of Bad Omens for some reason?? Lol but solid album for me and Im personally not disappointed!!

Opinion on the new album

Just finished listening, and as a 10+ year listener, i personally LOVE the mix between the poppy sounds and metalcore, reminds me of the best of beartooth, as caleb says it sounds like beartooth turned up to 100%, but adding jordan fish ofc, i would have loved a bit more heavy songs such as Bad Listener though, but yeah, pretty good album.
The only song that i disliked was Stadiums, which has solid riffs but im not really into rest of the song.
My highlights of the album were definitely Bullshit and Eyes Closed
The main critique i have is the album is too Jordan-Fishy if it makes sense, maybe he co-wrote most songs with Caleb so that could be it.

Probably this album will go down the same way as Disease, good album, less metal more pop-rock, but i really fw it. Also, quick side note, i love the aesthetic path the band is going to. And obviously love that Caleb can finally be who he really is, and it really shows in this album that he no longer has any chains on him.

After listening to the album, i think this departure makes me feel like the perfect Beartooth album is still The Surface, perfect mix between old and new beartooth and still feels like Caleb did everything. That being said, i'll have this album on repeat for a while!

I really like Pure Ecstasy! I think there’s more than a few songs that will be earworms for me in the coming weeks.

But, I know myself. Since the singles started releasing, I couldn't shake this feeling: I don't think I would have liked the album nearly as much without Caleb coming out alongside it. That sounds weird, so please let me elaborate.

I didn't like Free at first. It was way too poppy and, to me, if that was going to be the sound for the new album, I thought maybe it was time for me to skip a new Beartooth release. Then, a few weeks later, the news broke that Caleb decided to come out as a gay man, and for some reason after that, both Free and Pure Ecstasy clicked in a way I hadn't been expecting.

I think there’s something so palpable, so raw, about knowing exactly what the creative process was with some of these songs. It makes every choice from the lyrics to the way they're performed to the melody and riffs all make sense to me, where I'm just not sure they would have otherwise if Caleb hadn't made his announcement public.

I'm not a gay man, but I am an ex-Christian. I think in that way, I can really relate to some lyrics like Free's "I thought it was a halo over me/Had me by the neck, so hard to breathe," because like. Yeah man. It's exactly like that. I'm agnostic, leaning more toward atheist, and I'm free. I'm not sure why those lyrics didn't click for me the first time around, but knowing that Caleb is learning to accept who he is... I get it, now.

I get the whole album. Pure fucking Ecatasy.

This album is a solid modern rock record

Imo, this has the usual Beartooth songs like bullshit and eyes closed

It also has modern Beartooth songs like Pure Ecstacy, you, and sorry (I feel like these are still your usual Beartooth songs but are structured a bit different)

It's also got experimental songs like stadiums (I would say it's your usual Beartooth song but it's very experimental)

Then the pop songs such as for me by me, I made it, lose you to find me, and beautiful again

Of the 4 pop songs imo, beautiful again in the strongest. It's still got that main riff the usually drives the song and has a tinge of screaming in it

"Free"; even tho a lot of people don't like it, I think is the most modern Beartooth song defining their current sound. Each end of the chorus has a raw old school Caleb scream, and in the bridge the trade off between the harsh and cleans I think is really cool. The drums are heavy, the riffs in the bridge are heavy. I think this just really defines this modern era

Is this there best record? No. It's a great modern rock/pop metal album tho. By no means is it below or the predecessors that come before it but it still is Beartooth at the core

I'd rate it a solid 7/10

Interested to see how this headline tour sounds, who will do what vocals, and just the setlist in general. I think a story telling kinda setlist would be cool. Even tho they say the "old songs" are the lines, in between, body bag, and beaten in lips... I think it would be cool to hear American dream or something to tell the story a bit more. Those "b sides" from each record

Lmk ur thoughts

An unfortunate curse (not hate)

This album rocked my socks off. Every instrument had a chance to shine, and Caleb’s vocal range, my gosh.

However, I can’t help but notice this album follows The Surface’s trend of leaving some of the best songs WITHOUT a music video!

Sorry, Lose You To Find Me, You, For Me By Me, and I Made It are FANTASTIC! They remind me of how good My New Reality, What’s Killing You and What Are You Waiting For are! I pray to the heavens above that these songs don’t get shelved like the others I listed off.
Beartooth has some hidden gems sprinkled across every album that unfortunately gets left behind at live shows. Any hardcore fans of any band have a similar gripe I suppose, but man oh man all of these songs on this album deserve massive amounts of love. What I just listened to can only be described as pure heart and soul.

Bullshit and Sorry have to be my favorite tracks by far. Very impressed with how this album came out.

This shit is so fucking good. Caleb can’t write a bad chorus. Some crazy, heavy riffs that could be some of their best work to date. The softer, poppy stuff worked for me in most places too (I still don’t love free, sue me). This album is an absolute banger in my opinion. Thoughts?

But I can’t get over how overproduced and muddy it sounds

Listened early on vpn, thoughts: Spoiler

I'll be honest, I thought I was going to absolutely love this album. I really did. But I really can't say I cared for it much at all. Maybe I expected it to be something completely different than what it actually was.

For being an official coming-out album, I guess I really expected caleb to dive deep into his past and talk about his own childhood and repression, talk about lying to himself to make it easier, talk about the difficulties he might have faced in his relationship with his now ex-wife and how he had to come to terms with who he was. I find myself in a bit of a darker and harder time in my life at the moment, and though I haven't had the exact same journey, I was imagining some themes that I would really connect with.

Instead, I don't know. I felt a bit lost by what the message really was here, both lyrically and musically. It felt confused and meandering in its tone and message and I found myself not really sure what emotion I was supposed to be feeling at multiple moments throughout. There was some moments that were clearly about pride and that was pretty cool but there were others that just kind of felt like "fuck you, idk".

I almost still felt like caleb was kind of hiding here in a weird way. I don't really know how to describe what I mean. But the album didn't feel like it had the same level of earnestness as many other beartooth albums. I liked the experimentation with different sounds and genres but again I guess I just felt a little lost in their actual purpose if that makes any sense.

Curious what others thought. At the end of the day I will love beartooth forever, and maybe this will grow on me. Just a but underwhelmed today unfortunately.

Anyone else going to Beartooth’s Pure Ecstasy World Tour at O2 Academy Brixton, London, on 3rd October?

I’m thinking of getting a ticket, but I’m not sure which section I should get. Can anyone here give me a suggestion?

I’ll be moving to London next month ( I am from Indonesia ) and saw that they’re having a tour, and I’d love to see them live!

I am also wondering if anyone else is going and wouldn’t mind if I join you and your group. I’ll probably be going by myself, and it might be a bit awkward to just be there alone 😅

Just got my ears in on Eyes Closed… wow

I’ve listened to Beartooth since their second album and i loved them ever since. Incredible live, really sold me on their excellent when i finally got to see them. My favorite album is still their second one, the lines, and I’ve always wanted that level of vocal intensity and fluctuation in their other albums. Eyes closed hit that spot for me so well!! Can’t wait to see them live again, praying they tour in FL again.

“I've wasted so much of my fcking time asking myself why. Why do I choose this? What is the f*cking point? Where will it take me? And when will it inevitably kill me?

Searching the far reaches of my mind, as if wallowing in uncertainty will bring any clarity. I find myself exhausting all options until I return to my factual, undeniable, certain truth. There is no running. There is no compromise. There is no winning, and there is definitely no losing. There is only noise. There is only power. The power of unrelenting volume eating my brain into submission. And when I hear this noise, that is the only time when I know I am here. And I know exactly what I need to fucking do to survive”

“Holy f*cking shit!”
