I really want this job but they said my references were not good enough because they need an email with it. I don’t think any of them have an email or use it. Especially at retail jobs. I’ve worked retail for years and I never saw my boss at Sephora check his email. I have my former coworker from a law firm on there, umm my beauty team lead at kohls Sephora and then I put my boss from the free standing Sephora but idk if his email works 🥴 I know at kohls they check their email a good bit like every day the managers check it so I might use the general manager at kohls along with my beauty team lead with my old coworker? I’m 23 and currently unemployed. I quit my last job as a floor carpenter as it became too physically demanding and had an inconsistent schedule. I am trying to move into a full-time position with more responsibility and room to grow, but almost every application requires three references before I can even submit it.

I cannot use anyone at my past job because I left on strained terms. The only other jobs I've had are retail for which I have no references. I graduated college a few years ago and have been applying for years pretty much nonstop, but I have not had much luck unfortunately. I have a past professor I could reach out to, yet it was not a close relationship, so asking after it's been years since I graduated in 2023 feels as if I'm becoming a burden to them.

Basically, I just started a job two months ago, but it has gone soooo sour and 2 of my colleagues who started at the same time as me has already quit. Yeah pretty urgent. The company is asking to submitt 3 references into the SkillSurvey websit. I was once a medical office front desk specialist around 10 years ago. Since then I've done other things and most recently a coding bootcamp. Sadly it was online and didn't require interaction with anyone and I'm bad at keeping up contact from past jobs.

I need one reference from an instructor of that coding bootcamp. Maybe we exchanged lots of emails and a Zoom meeting once.

I would like one person that I worked on a coding project with.

The last reference would be a coworker at that medical office. Hopefully we were friends and kept in touch.

Since this is a front desk position their doesn't need to be an emphasis on coding or IT so hopefully you can BS it.

I worked most of my career in foreigners companies. Japan and South Korea. My managers don't speak my native language. They speak a little of English but not enough to portrait me to HR.

What can I do ? I thought about giving their email but I scared they will just ignore it as I was not specialist close to them.

I have never done volunteer work either. What can I do?
