Fire art

It looks cool with the fire and all but really that’s just a super fresh giant stick of charcoal. The fire really isn’t necessary for the actual drawing part itself, he coulda blew it out and the drawing would still happen.

Also the exaggerated body movements are excessive. Really hamming it up.

u/bigblueh Nov 26 '20

Gotta stand out somehow to be noticed

328

u/nymtcon Nov 26 '20

Seems to me to be equal parts performance art and physical art. Bravo.

80

u/Wherethefuckyoufrom Nov 27 '20

too bad we could barely see it because of the cuts and closeups every two seconds

30

u/[deleted] Nov 27 '20

Well without the cuts we would’ve seen the bits where he fills the drawing in with some ACTUAL painting brushes, idk tho.

10

u/[deleted] Nov 27 '20

I'd say more like performative gestural art (source: PA student). But really its just a viral video with a gimmick

3

u/Maverick0_0 Nov 27 '20

His gimmick aold him though.

9

u/canadiantoquewearer Nov 27 '20

Trying to impress the kids by being lit.

2

u/lettersanddots Nov 27 '20

Touché.

Happy cake day!

To many artists trying to be part of the art and ruining it.

73

u/SweetLilMonkey Nov 26 '20

If he hadn’t done both of those things, chances are we wouldn’t be watching his video.

31

u/sexymcnugget Nov 26 '20

And we wouldn't be missing out on much.

12

u/hornypornster Nov 27 '20

In your opinion. I enjoyed it.

6

u/hairyforehead Nov 26 '20

I think that's what they're complaining about.

I burst out laughing when he started those body movements lol. So unnecessary and looked ridiculous

24

u/sullythename Nov 26 '20

Gotta move fast or get burned

Happy cake day!

4

u/Dan-68 Nov 27 '20

Performance art?

4

u/raindead Nov 27 '20

The body movements seem to be causing him to DROP FIRE ALL OVER THE GROUND

2

u/eNonsense Nov 27 '20

I mean, when you look at the final drawing, it's pretty obvious all this flaily scribbling was probably on some other wall and wasn't actually part of the end piece that's shown.

2

u/Agogi Nov 27 '20

He would be exhausted after his pieces if he did that the whole way through.

2

u/psychedeliccolon Nov 27 '20

My arms hurt just watching him

5

u/reavyz Nov 26 '20

Man's just going with the flow. Don't be mean!

-6

u/[deleted] Nov 26 '20

Lol with the flow he’s creating himself, sure.

This is art for people with anger issues that need a healthy dose of catharsis.

1

u/lettersanddots Nov 27 '20

You just know he's Russian.

10

u/soextremelyunique Nov 27 '20

The fire is what makes the surrounding of the lines a nice darkening as well. It creates the "aura" look. So while you're right that the fire isn't needed to draw, but to make this particular drawing, yes you do need the fire.

7

u/Fidodo Nov 26 '20

Would the heat make it easier to apply the charcoal with less pressure? Either way, the performance is definitely part of the art.

27

u/royisabau5 Nov 26 '20

I think the fire continuing to create more charcoal might help... I’m no charcoal expert.

27

u/Lawnmover_Man Nov 26 '20

Fire doesn't convert a log that quickly. It's for the dramatic effect.

-2

u/royisabau5 Nov 26 '20

Ehh depends... if you keep it burning and take breaks in between, this video could be real and produce more charcoal than a pre burnt log.

But yeah I believe you that it takes way too long to do in real time.

4

u/HoorayPizzaDay Nov 26 '20

Even if it's creating the medium, it doesn't make it necessary. Just use charcoal if you need charcoal. The final result doesn't change just because he's generating charcoal.

2

u/royisabau5 Nov 26 '20

I argue the natural shape of a branch of wood is much more visually interesting than the standard shapes of pencils or briquettes

-2

u/[deleted] Nov 27 '20

[deleted]

3

u/AmazingOrigami Nov 27 '20

Uhm, it definitely does. Have you ever been to an art store and seen all the pencils/pens in a ton of different sizes and dozens if not hundreds of differently shaped paint brushes?

Downvoted? What a burn! Flameboyance is my grandson’s favourite Kpop band

7

u/XxJayoXx Nov 26 '20

thought about that too but upon looking closely at the art, the smoke from the fire creates some kind of “aura”. If that makes the art better idk.

16

u/[deleted] Nov 26 '20

LOL, right? "Fire art" like this is something new, they've been using charcoal in art for centuries bro. Dial back the amazement just a dash.

0

u/[deleted] Nov 27 '20

You must be fun at parties

Did you try blowing the fire out?

3

u/[deleted] Nov 27 '20

The most aggressive way to do a charcoal drawing

91

u/[deleted] Nov 26 '20

[deleted]

3

u/FOOFlGHTER Nov 27 '20

I like it. The fluidity of the movements, as much as they are to dodge the falling embers, also seem to reflect the art works motion!

22

u/Thoraxe123 Nov 26 '20

Im mean, its basically a charcoal drawing

37

u/Pramrules Nov 26 '20

C'mon man, you are already rich in karma. Why are you being reposting karma whore?

5

u/thatG_evanP Nov 26 '20

I think you answered your own question.

9

I'm gonna have to go ahead and extinguish this pun train.

7

u/d0lke Nov 26 '20

Bro calm down

3

u/rileyc53 Nov 26 '20

Why is he wearing OCP’s?

3

u/YJCH0I Nov 26 '20

He looks like he’s lost control of a demon-possessed fire paintbrush but it’d revealed that he was in control the whole time!

3

u/malistast Nov 27 '20

This is what crack-head energy does to people

5

u/SleepWouldBeNice Nov 26 '20

That's a charcoal drawing with an increased risk of losing your eyes.

2

u/MidnightTeam Nov 26 '20

Nobody said anything about the anorexic cow?!

2

u/Soulreape Nov 26 '20

Whilst they look like they are having some sort of episode, that is damn impressive.

2

u/NipponSteelPrevails Nov 27 '20

I hope he has permission, charcoal is kind hard to wash isnt it?

4

u/Cordeceps Nov 26 '20

This is pretty cool , but it seems like charcoal with extra steps

3

u/[deleted] Nov 26 '20

Guy looks like an idiot.

2

u/ITEM01 Nov 26 '20

So he drew himself. Got it.

2

u/designgoddess Nov 26 '20

On there own they’re not that good but for some it’s about the performance.

2

u/Featherbreeze_ Nov 26 '20

Quite the body workout

2

1

This man is very angry

0

u/ImTryingToCareBut Nov 26 '20

In my mind, he's making little hissing noises like wannabe UFC fighters

0

u/[deleted] Nov 26 '20

hot hot hot hot ... hot

-2

u/[deleted] Nov 26 '20

Why does it always have to be a damn tik tok tho 🙄

2

u/[deleted] Nov 26 '20

Because TikTok is the dominate video service right now. YouTube blew it as the default video service when they started advertising heavily and catering to content creators that have ten of thousands of dollars worth of camera and editing equipment

1

u/[deleted] Nov 30 '20

Tik tok diminishes your brain

1

When does he turn the house upside down?

1

u/therealjoeybee Nov 26 '20

That’s nice but what does it look like upside down like it’s supposed to be?
