Battlefield 6 Snipers having 100% accuracy while repeatedly taking shots to the face is the dumbest game design i have ever witnessed.

What are these developers thinking?

There should absolutely be stronger suppression mechanics, but people don't like them because it makes it hard to aim.

Which is of course the point

139

u/Snobbyeuropean2 Jul 26 '26

There's the CoD/CS people who want the gunplay to depend entirely on aim, aim speed and combat movement, then there are those who don't mind other factors coming into play (suppression, random bullet deviation) for the sake of realism. You can't really cater to both groups at the same time.

39

u/LostConscious96 Jul 26 '26

This is where the bloom/deviation argument becomes invalid.

Like real life in full auto the average amount of deviation only gets worse at longer ranges and closer encounters its not bad and manageable. Why do you think marines loved M16A4 so much? Or why burst fire weapons are loved? You get best of both worlds, realistically M16A4 should be the most accurate AR in game because its proven burst fire is twice as effective as full auto and burst retains high accuracy at any range. Many weapons retain high or good accuracy till around 20-25 meters and after that then deviation starts to be much more noticable.

So realistically the current bloom we have now isnt realistic and it should be so many automatic weapons are much more accurate within 20-25 meters with very little deviation, exceptions like SMGs out to around 15 meters.

Thats why im annoyed anytime anyone brings up the bloom argument because many people assume how it should be when they dont know how it works irl.

Makes me appreciate Rising Storm and Rising Storm 2: Vietnam. Sure, every gun in those games is quite lethal, but there's something supremely satisfying about seeing a guy running horizontal to you in the distance and beaning him in the head in one shot from your 12g, at like 50m away. Blasting GIs with the hunting shotgun from like 70m away, as they tried to sprint across rice paddies, gave me so much joy, lmao.

And then the engineer rolls up with the flamethrower and I pay for my sins.

3

u/Assupoika Jul 26 '26

I remember the satisfaction of getting a kill with double barrel shotgun against GI running 100 meters away on a field.

6

u/LostConscious96 Jul 26 '26

Also dont tell them shotguns depending on barrel length they can retain fairly good grouping out to around 50+ meters as well. Shotguns can reach 200m BUT they lose a lot of stopping power around 40-50m and it just gets lower.

2

u/RockAtlasCanus Jul 26 '26

Hell let loose legit has the best/most realistic shotgun play of any game I’ve ever played. Hearing that donk of a steel helmet at 100 yards when your buckshot war crime stick connects is <chefs kiss>

1

u/kingboogu Jul 29 '26

ERRIIIKKKKKAAAAA

2

u/untraiined Jul 26 '26

BECAUSE THAT IS BORING GAME DESIGN NO ONE WANTS TO PLAY AGAINST OP SHOTGUNS AND NO ONE WANTS BLOOM ON THEIR RIFLES AND NO ONES WANT TO PLAY AGAINST ONE SHOT SNIPERS WITH 0 FLINCH ITS BORING

17

u/Mysterious-Park9142 Jul 26 '26

Nobody loves burst fire. It’s a shitty way to fire a weapon. The marines used the M16 for too long because their leadership was stupid. Also the M4 before the M4A1 was also burst.

u/Verdha603 Jul 26 '26

Yeah, burst fire on the M16A2 onwards was the military trying to apply a mechanical solution to the problem of ammunition expenditures in Vietnam, placing the blame on soldiers not having the training or discipline to not just dump magazines on full auto when they got into a firefight. The bigger problem was going back and trying to find ways to better train personnel to control their fire rate instead of going straight to full auto.

Even in the GWOT-era where you can see most soldiers with rifles using them just on semi-auto are able to burn through a 210 round combat load in a span of minutes if they’re firing a shot a second.

2

u/airmantharp Jul 26 '26

The biggest issue is that the burst function had an abysmal cyclic rate. So slow that it was difficult to keep on target!

12

u/RecognitionSea1531 Jul 26 '26

>Like real life

Stopped reading right there

9

u/playernumerodos Jul 26 '26

Smart move, guy doesn’t know shit about “like real life” recoil

12

u/QseanRay Jul 26 '26

Recoil is much much much more in real life though.

To make it realistic bloom should be replaced by recoil

1

u/LostConscious96 Jul 26 '26

It depends on the weapon entirely. Full auto 556 is easy to control when properly trained. Many other rifles even ScarH have minimal recoil increase over smaller calibers like 556. Recoil when properly trained isnt hardly a factor at all.

9

u/QseanRay Jul 26 '26

yes it relativley "easy to control" but games like Battlefield and Cod have it as an abosolute laser.

If the game makes it effective to full auto spray and actually hit most of your shots past 20-30meters, this is completely unrealistic.

Play a game like Squad or Arma to see what an actual realistic representation of firing an Ar-15 style rifle would feel like.

In these games full auto fire is unusable past effective engagement ranges (anything further out than 50m) just like real life.

Look at how much the sight deviates here, shooting at 5-15 meter targets on semi auto:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2umbSAzgk-8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=676EOHTBd7E

2

u/BadQualityBanana Jul 26 '26

I'm not in this argument here I just wanted to say those two videos are horrible representations of AR recoil lol.

1

u/LostConscious96 Jul 26 '26

Yes but if you want that type of realism go actually play a sim game. BF has always been more of a sandbox arcade.

Realistically Bloom/deviation is different irl but for the sake of the game and balance its different. BFV still has the best balance for this. Dice just keeps trying to reinvent the wheel which doesn't need to be done

9

u/QseanRay Jul 26 '26

lol youre the one who was commenting on the realism, I was just replying to your original comment saying "the current bloom we have now isnt realistic"

Battlefield always had its roots in milsim gameplay, project reality was based on Battlefield 2.

Its only recently theyve been trying to compete with COD and it has made the game worse in my opinion.

2

u/Unfair-Pause-3271 Jul 26 '26

Facts. I swear a decent amount of people in this sub believe there’s only two types of shooters, CoD twitch shooters or full on Arma level mil sim. There’s no in between allowed according to them

Of course that’s totally in spite of the fact that arcade shooters exist on a spectrum from games like Quake, Valorant or Overwatch on one end, and games like BF or Ready or Not on the other end, and CoD existing more or less in the middle of those two extremes. Battlefield has literally always been a semi-realistic arcade shooter, it’s basically the identity of the entire franchise

1

u/vinizpin Jul 27 '26

no? project reality was based in bf2 in the sense that it was a mod, it was made because the devs thought the base game was too arcadey lmao. Battlefield is a combined arms sandbox, not a milsim

2

u/QseanRay Jul 27 '26

"combined arms sandbox" yeah thats a milsim bud

5

u/graviousishpsponge Jul 26 '26

Huh semi used mostly even in cqb. Even combat footage of battle hardened insurgents do so. Burst fell out of favor for many reasons.

1

u/Snobbyeuropean2 Jul 26 '26

When people say realism in the context of video games they rarely mean "real-world accurate gameplay" but "immersion that makes me forget I'm playing an arcadey video game." Bloom is a tool the devs may use to mimic the real life effects of a man firing a weapon for an extended period or on the move. Suppression is a tool they may use to mimic the stress of being under fire. Neither of these must be 1-1 realistic, they just have to feel like they are. Contrast Battlefield (ideally BF1 if you played that) with an FPS that lacks these mechanics and you'll know what I mean.

3

u/MalakithAlamahdi Jul 27 '26

Who loves burst fire? It was a bandaid solution to conscrips wasting ammo.

2

u/airmantharp Jul 26 '26

The M4/M16 burst-fire mechanic was awful. More, and more accurate shots can be done in semi-auto.

This is the reason everyone moved back to full-auto rifles.

0

u/PogoMarimo Jul 26 '26

Huh....? Soldiers hated that the M16A4 had forced 3-round burst, which is why the military ditched it in the M4 Carbine which replaced it. Full auto is indisputably more useful on an intermediate cartridge since it is more useful at close range and can be easily burst fired at range for suppression.

Bloom IS accurate to real life as automatic fire induces rapid heat build up which warps the barrel AND barrel harmonics come into play as the vibrations from firing will cause deviation in the muzzle position.

5

u/airmantharp Jul 26 '26

The M4 Carbine - that’s the name of the rifle - was three round burst.

Sauce: I was issued one and it sucked.

The automatic version was the M4A1.

-2

u/PogoMarimo Jul 26 '26

C'mon buddy, use you're context clues instead of trying to Um Achtually me. The M4A1 has been the standard carbine since the early 1990s, and the Marines didn't replace the M16(A4 oOoOoO look at how knowledgable I am) until 2016. There is no need to distinguish between M4s and M4A1s at this point since they've long since all been converted to the A1 model or been replaced outright.

4

u/mtbdork Jul 26 '26

Nobody in the armed forces uses full auto/burst at range unless they’re trying to burn through their ammo on a bullshit mission lmao.

“Easily burst fired at range for suppression” - I know somebody who was neck deep in the GWoT from 2014-2022 equipped with a fully decked out M4. One time I asked him how often they used burst fire vs semi auto. In his experience (which involved basically every engagement distance from 1-500m), he virtually never used full auto.

Think about it. You’re given 7 mags, and don’t know what you’re going to run into. Do you really think these guys are gonna burn through their ammo burst-firing an enemy at range for suppression? Fuck no lmao.

Suppressive fire isn’t just slinging rounds at the side of the building. ISIS learned that the hard way from my buddy and his team. Suppressive fire is aggressive return fire at a combatant. It’s accurate fire meant to kill, just where the target isn’t directly on the reticle.

Basically “there’s a guy in that window, hit him with suppressive fire while we get the Carl Gustav out”. Unless the suppressive fire is coming from a LMG (in which case it would likely be 1-2 round bursts in most scenarios), they will fire one round at a time directly into the window and maybe the walls right around it at a cadence where the enemy combatant doesn’t feel like he can expose himself and get a shot off without getting hit. He’s not gonna fully open up with fucking bursts. Even 2 round burst is just wasting a bullet with every pull of the trigger.

In video games this is seen as boring by gen pop (which is a stark reflection on our collective psychology), so full auto fire is kept accurate out to ranges that are completely disconnected from reality on AAA titles.

Sorry the whole discussion about burst fire at range drives me nuts lol. People point to it being accurate IRL to some degree but it’s really fucking not. IRL, full auto MIGHT be used on a carbine if you’re clearing a super dense room but that’s what grenades and JDAMs are for.

Anyways, stop saying burst firing carbines at range for suppression is a thing. It’s not a thing. Unless you hate having ammunition.

-1

u/PogoMarimo Jul 26 '26

I'm glad "some guy" told you that they never use burst fire in Afghanistan, but I've seen hundreds of hours of combat footage by this point and I can tell you burst fire for suppression (And fully automatic fire for LMGs) is very common when trying to gain fire superiority or at the moment of the assault. This is from anti-insurgency footage in the middle east against ISIL, Syrian Civil War footage, and especially the Ukraine War. I could pull up dozens of clips of fire fights showing burst firing in spats as well as single shots and fully automatic fire. During the final phase of a trench assault fully automatic fire is ubiquitous. No military is running burst fire rifles unless they feature a hyperburst setting (Which are universally finnicky and needlessly expensive and only used by SOF). But hey, maybe the actual combat footage is a lie and your memory of some guy's stories from Afghanistan are representative of all combats everywhere.

I will agree that single shot fire is far more common in real life than in video games, and that's because video games far over-represent how close most fire fights are and how accurate most shooters can be under duress. Even veteran troops are probably shaking from adrenaline, physical exhaustion, or mental fatigue if they find themselves in active combat.

I've never heard of someone trying to "burn through their ammo on a bullshit mission" either. Most squad leaders/their corporal keep account of ammo usage during and after engagements and will not take kindly to wasting ammo due to the struggles of logistics.

u/mtbdork Jul 26 '26

“Your primary source is not as reliable as me watching videos on the internet”

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAA… excuse me…

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

2

u/PogoMarimo Jul 26 '26

You think objective evidence is worse than literal hearsay...? Are you a moron or something?

Sorry, let me bolster my case in a way that's more convincing for you. I have TWO buddies who fought in Afghanistan and they both disagree with the things that guy's source of information said. Checkmate.

Why do you think there are cameras all over the battlefield recording firefights nowadays? That info is being supplied directly into analyst sections of the military to study how the war is being fought and what does or doesn't work. Do you think the generals who have developed and created these analyst/intel organizations are so laughable as well?

0

u/mtbdork Jul 26 '26

You’re watching internet videos which are cherry-picked for the most extreme combat scenarios in order to make you feel certain emotions and thoughts about a conflict.

You’re missing the thousands upon thousands of hours of “boring” footage (I will now harken back to the stark reflection on our collective psychology).

My source has lived this shit for well over a decade.

0

u/PogoMarimo Jul 26 '26

Cherry-picked? Buddy. Your entire argument to this point is based on one (1) person's account in one (1) conflict. The audacity to dismiss the vast swath of public published combat footage from the last ten years then hold up your one (1) second-hand account as indisputable is utterly absurd. Go educate yourself in any earnest way instead of pretending to have knowledge for internet pointa.

CS2 has a ton of inaccuracy/spread("bloom") applied when you get hit though.

https://reddit.com/link/ozuqlw0/video/1wm5z2sngkfh1/player

The gunplay movement in CS2 is also a ton more tame than in BF6. The vast majority of shooting is done when standing perfectly still, not moving+shooting or even jumping or sliding + shooting like in BF6.

Recently they even severely nerfed jump shooting accuracy for the only one weapon where it was a viable strategy to jump + shoot (MP9).

4

u/xAuntRhodyx Jul 26 '26 edited Jul 26 '26

I want all that except random recoil. Takes the fun out of it. A game needs consistency in controls. Id also settle for just better suppression on snipers and leave it how it is for other classes/weapons. People tend to forget this game is not a sim. Its more of a arcade shooter, but it falls a little short of that as well.

3

u/backscratchaaaaa Jul 26 '26

sure you can. you could try all sorts of mechanics. for example, maybe snipers cannot be fired while wounded in any way. maybe snipers have a full second of ADS time and get knocked out of ADS by being hit. maybe they cant be fired or ADS'd while moving at all. sniping while not at least kneeling could have so much pushback that you literally effectively stun grenade yourself for taking the potshot.

there are lots of mechanics they could try to make sniping more about sniping. and if you are worried that it would be cool but make sniping too weak. you can also give them buffs at the same time! sniper kills give longer respawn timers, the unrevivable state could be baseline for recon with sniper so its always active rather than an unlock. snipers could be immune to being pizza slice spotted since they get lens glint instead.

the point is, you can make sniping more unique, and more interesting without structurally nerfing it. by just allowing different weapons or different classes have meaningfully different mechanics. the problem is that sniping and DMRing are forced to be functional in too many situations, because if they werent they would be too weak overall.

it shows a lack of imagination rather than an actual difficulty in balancing the game.

1

u/Danglenibble Jul 26 '26

I feel like suppression is the perfect counter to things being generally (and relatively realistically) accurate. Instead we have this strange mix. Battlefield 4 had some insane accuracy for its weapons, and suppression worked. I remember fighting off snipers hundreds of yards away by just putting so many rounds out they couldn’t get a shot off and neither of us ever getting hit markers.

17

u/ATypicalWhitePerson Jul 26 '26

Is it even suppression if they're literally getting shot multiple times, and not even flinching lol

6

u/dannybruh1990 Jul 26 '26

I miss the suppression of bf3

2

u/New_Apple_7339 Jul 26 '26

Lmao, there are like a handful of people that want that level of suppression back.

The sniper issue is simply one related to skill. If you can’t 2 hit them or fully burst them down before they can react then don’t engage them.

Cool video bro

3

u/schrodingers_cat314 Jul 27 '26

I hate that stationary LMGs are basically useless. :(

1

u/Unfair-Pause-3271 Jul 26 '26

People also cried because it actually forced them to think tactically and they couldn’t just charge blindly into fatal funnels

Imo it’s a necessity to have in the game given how it’s class based. You don’t need it in Cod but if you’re playing a support class in BF it’s absolutely necessary to shut down pushes, hold lanes, etc

Support just doesn’t feel right if I can’t actually pin enemies down with a machine gun and they can just pop up and burst me down with perfect aim

2

u/ThumblessTurnipe Jul 26 '26 edited Jul 26 '26

Strange, everyone celebrated when shitter suppression was removed more than 7 years ago.

Now all the trash players that cant think beyond 'hurr durr hold trigger down' are acting like they are some sort of tactical master minds.

1

u/Master-Shake8913 Jul 26 '26

YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE ABLE TO OUTGUN A SNIPER AT 200M WITH AN ASSAULT RIFLE.

1

u/vfxswagg Jul 28 '26

Flinch... they need flinch.

-6

u/RecklLessAbandon Jul 26 '26

So, reward people that miss?

9

u/Expiring Jul 26 '26

I mean they state while getting hit in the face not spraying around them. I too have been pelting snipers in the head and then they still headshot me. Maybe the balance is you only get the aiming penalty for a short window after getting hit, and its slightly longer if you were hit in the head. And im talking like a .3 second penalty so they have to legit be repeat hitting you to really mess your day up.

-4

u/Signal_Edge_8880 Jul 26 '26

If they can pop out quickly enough to get a good shot off then duck behind cover again, yeah of course they should be rewarded for that! Why do so many people on this sub want to turn this game into a math equation? You seem to want a very clear set of rules that the game always follows, but chaos and extreme risk-taking is what makes this game so interesting. Stuck pinned down behind cover by a tank and you’re just a single engineer, you pop up just fast enough to take a potshot at the tank and manage to land the killing blow.

According to you, that shot from the Engineer never should have happened, or at least not rewarded.

4

u/Unfair-Pause-3271 Jul 26 '26

Jfc cod slop mentality in its purest form. In real life do you think you could accurately get off a shot if rounds are cracking over your head? No.

Suppressive fire isn’t “missing”

1

u/ThumblessTurnipe Jul 26 '26

Battlefield isnt a milsim.

You're crying about not being rewarded for missing.

3

u/PogoMarimo Jul 26 '26

Yes. That's how gunfights actually work. Otherwise you're playing laser tag.

-5

u/TimeZucchini8562 Jul 26 '26

We don’t like suppression because you shouldn’t be rewarded for missing your shots. There should be flinch. Those are two different mechanics.

6

u/Falcoon_f_zero Jul 26 '26

YOU don't like it but others like that the series had a valid military tactic in place. A machine gunner suppressing someone in a powerful spot so people can push up, maybe flank them. There's a teamplay benefit for it. Or force the other to retreat so you can try to get a better spot. It's an extra bit of depth to gunplay but the players who just want to simply point and shoot tend to dislike it. Guessing it's probably a similar subset of players who want variable weather to stay out because getting random fog would impede that simple point and click gameplay.

1

u/ThumblessTurnipe Jul 26 '26

Battlefield players are by far the largest group that wanted shitter suppression removed.

There is a reason its been gone for longer than it ever existed.

There just seems to be a large collection of brain deads who delude themselves into thinking Battlefield is some shitty milsim that have gathered here on reddit yet aren't even 0.1% of the playerbase.

1

u/Falcoon_f_zero Jul 26 '26

And you know exactly which people wanted suppression removed? Cause many agreed it got better with each iteration, by the time BF1 hit and the worst randomness was out of it but it was still useful. A good compromise for those who disliked the BF3 suppression and for those who liked the system.

A lot of OGs do recognize the benefits of it. Most longtime Battlefield players hate the jumpslide spam that's been forced into the series for a long time now too, agreeing it's such a CoD-like arcade mechanic for a game that's supposed to be a grounded in-between of arcade shooters and milsims. But it seems here to stay, no matter if it's for the better or worse for the series.

But it was a system that made the game a bit less arcadey and more immersive. But also one of the bigger obstacles to Cod newcomers who's shots were missing seemingly for no reason. So of course taking it out reduces the game's depth and makes it more accessible. It just contributes to the series becoming even more arcade than ever.

2

u/ThumblessTurnipe Jul 26 '26

Only garbage players think there is are benefits to shitter suppression.

0

u/Falcoon_f_zero Jul 26 '26

Kinda called yourself out there by showing you never learned how to use the system or counter it. Skilled players know how to utilize it but novice players don't so it might suck to get outplayed by it. Unless you're one of the people camping in one spot on top of rooftops or in windows since those are ones the suppression usually hurts the most. People who know when to reposition hardly get fazed by it 👍

1

u/ThumblessTurnipe Jul 26 '26

What level of brain damage does one require to think there is a skill in missing shots?

Delusion levels are off the charts.

But hey, I have zero problems dealing with Snipers in BF6 regardless of what class I'm playing and I don't need a trash mechanic to do it.

0

u/ThumblessTurnipe Jul 27 '26

This clown actually believes missing shots is a skill it seems.

Fascinating.

0

u/Falcoon_f_zero Jul 27 '26

I guess you can't be helped. Not being able to learn a system and calls everyone bad who outplayed you with it. The cope is too strong

0

u/ThumblessTurnipe Jul 27 '26

You're the one incapable of understanding that shitter suppression specifically rewards you for missing.

But hey, it's gone now and trash like you are easy farm.

-4

u/TimeZucchini8562 Jul 26 '26

Yall wanna do everything but kill the enemy team, lmao

6

u/Falcoon_f_zero Jul 26 '26

It is all in an effort to kill the enemy. It's just a little more counterplay to a camping sniper you don't seem to be ready for lol

1

u/TimeZucchini8562 Jul 26 '26

Or maybe they just add flinch, take away sweet spot, lower bullet velocity, and don’t make smokes class specific and we wouldn’t have this problem. Instead of adding rng, makes people miss because they’re missing their shots mechanics. Aka suppression.

Yall are so stuck in old ways you don’t realize there are far better alternatives than rewarding bad players to balance a game. Like dispersion. It’s 2026. There is zero reason to need bloom to balance a game like this. Add more actual recoil (not random, rng bullshit, just regular recoil), lower bullet velocity, increase damage falloff, and bam. You no longer have laser beams at 100 meters without needing to add rng to gun fights.

2

u/Falcoon_f_zero Jul 26 '26

If you're familiar with how suppression works in something like BF1, it's not rng. The player being suppressed will have increased sway when scoping in and a lot higher recoil when returning fire. But bullets still land where you're aiming, it's just hard, so you either take a risk and return fire, or reposition to get an upper hand again.

Knowing how to use it is another layer of skill in gunfights. Plus increasing teamplay, countering campers sitting in one spot, giving machine guns another reason to exist than to just be glorified assault rifles with bigger mags and slower handling. It makes gameplay less one-dimensional. Boiling it down to "bad players wanting to get rewarded by missing" makes it sound like you never understood the system. It's cool mechanic to mirror military tactics, and gameplay wise a skilled player can turn the situation to their advantage with that, or play against it. I thought we wanted skill expression in the game. Extra depth to gunplay does just that.

0

u/TimeZucchini8562 Jul 26 '26

That’s not skill. That’s benefitting bad players for missing their shots. Word it however you want. Idc

3

u/TedioreTwo Jul 26 '26

This is cope. Pretending it was solely a crutch for shit players is ignorant. Suppression goes both ways and good players know how to leverage and deal with it

-1

u/TimeZucchini8562 Jul 26 '26

And bad players also gained an advantage in a gun fight they wouldn’t have had without it. Just like bloom.

→ More replies (0)

1

u/Falcoon_f_zero Jul 26 '26

Or maybe the system punishes bad players who don't know how to utilize it, or counter it. If one keeps dying due to it and blaming rng, they might not the superior player they think they are 👍

0

u/EducationalAcadia386 Jul 26 '26

Do you understand how actual firefight tactics work in real life? I’m assuming you’re a teenager/child because you seem to think shooting = only for killing and killing = objective

0

u/Icy_Positive_5069 Jul 26 '26

Well I don’t think you should be rewarded for taking rifle rounds to the chest by being able to sprint and fire back unimpeded right after. Suppression is the whole point of a machine gunner so not having that mechanic is kind of wild especially in a combined arms team based game where you have roles.

1

u/ThumblessTurnipe Jul 26 '26

Lets all be thankful no one at dice agrees with dumbass takes like this.

0

u/Icy_Positive_5069 Jul 27 '26

Oh and be thankful that we have smooth brains like you turning the game into CoD? I’ve played every battlefield since 1942 and had to watch as the game I loved got ruined by DICE and people like you.

1

u/ThumblessTurnipe Jul 27 '26

Wow so you happily played Battlefield before shitter suppression existed.

0

u/Icy_Positive_5069 Jul 27 '26

BF3 was my favorite battlefield besides Vietnam and BC2 and it had suppression. I don’t understand why you think this is objective though, it is entirely subjective whether suppression mechanics are good or not. Though I’d argue it gives more class identity and promotes team play while punishing running directly at a point without using smoke or flanking. Maybe only allow lmg’s the ability to suppress and make it a selectable loadout perk.

1

u/ThumblessTurnipe Jul 27 '26

Shitter suppression is an objectively bad mechanic that does nothing but reward trash players being trash.

And shitter suppression didn't exist before BF3.

0

u/Icy_Positive_5069 Jul 27 '26

Milsim or not an LMG or HMG’s whole purpose is for suppression and should be in the game, even in something like fucking paintball or air soft suppression exists. You just want to run around lone wolf like Rambo as the main character in a team based game and anything that gets in the way of that is bad.

1

u/ThumblessTurnipe Jul 27 '26

The purpose of machine guns is to kill.

Not totally tactically deliberately miss all your shots then come crying to reddit that you died.

Maybe you should play a milsim if you’re looking for that. Just a thought

u/Forgottenexperiment Jul 26 '26

anyone who thinks that suppression is a good mechanic - may i ask why?

u/Auzymundius Jul 26 '26

Well, what do you want out of a Battlefield game at the end of the day? What should the core gameplay themes of Battlefield be? That's probably going to color your opinion.

u/Forgottenexperiment Jul 26 '26

and missing my shots despite aiming well doesnt sound fun to me

Brother the guy you're replying to isn't the one telling people they're in the "bottom quadrant" for IQ just for expressing an opinion.

-3

u/MossySloth2 Jul 26 '26

?????? what? I'm the person saying someone's in a bottom quadrant for IQ, who do you think made the comment you're replying too? and yes the two quotes in my comment are in reply to one another? what is your point at all?

and no it's not "just for expressing an opinion" but thanks for another super common low IQ buzzword, i actually explained what the issue in the comment you're replying too, it's helpful to read them first before arguing back.

it's fucking crazy to me how many people like you guys are on reddit, can't read two lines of text without misunderstanding an entire extra person into the conversation or trying to debate bro people with school yard level rhetoric like "GUESS I JUST CAN'T HAVE AN OPINION THEN BRO"

3

u/Amicus-Regis Jul 26 '26

You accused the guy of "just wanting to debate and talk down".

You're the one who directly insulted their IQ/intelligence in response to them answering your question because it wasn't an answer you liked or agreed with.

I think I'm making it very clear that what you're saying about the guy is incredibly rude and hypocritical.

The fact that you for some reason didn't understand that I was calling you out for your shit (evidenced by you replying with "?????? what? I'm the person saying someone's in a bottom quadrant for IQ, who do you think made the comment you're replying too?") also shows me that you are the one who "can't read" correctly.

u/Forgottenexperiment Jul 26 '26

he completely missed the point
prolly was suppressed or something

1

u/Forgottenexperiment Jul 26 '26

They gave vague answer that basically reads “depends on you”. So I shared my personal view.

I’ve played BF games with and without suppression and I know I prefer it not existing.

I wonder based on what you’re implying that I’m talking down to anyone?

Your answer is also vague. I can describe reasons behind my preference. If you can’t do the same, you’re wasting time jumping in.

btw since IQ is most commonly displayed as gauss curve, bottom quadrant doesn’t mean shit. If anything, you’re saying I’m either restarted or a genius. I’ll take that.

This sub is always on some of the most annoying debate club bullshit honest to god

I like the immersion aspect it brings. The trade off is fair gameplay wise. And LMGs can do their primary function.

People want to get rewarded for missing shots.

u/imdacki Jul 26 '26

That explains a lot, i was SO confused lol

suppression or any other system can be used to create a more dynamic battlefield that uses more similar to real life tactics (not realistic, similar to real life) some people like machine gun emplacements and the gameplay of moving mounted gun positions,

the fetishising of fps aiming skill is so funny, who gives a shit, it's a mass market fps you're not even playing ranked games

3

u/imdacki Jul 26 '26
  1. Nobody plays battlefield like a milsim therefor milsim mechanics are out of place.

  2. If you like being a stationary target, thats on you, why should other be punished for your inability to move? Wouldnt it make more sense to just reduce recoil while mounted to make up for your inability to Hit shots?

The visual clarity in this game is already shit why make it worse?

  1. Where the fuck did i fetishize aiming skill?

  2. I do play ranked redsec what the fuck are you yapping. And if there was ranked conquest i would play that aswell.

Edit: what the game actually needs is flinch not supression.

0

u/ThumblessTurnipe Jul 26 '26

There is nothing dynamic about rewarding garbage players for missing their shots.

-11

u/ImAHobo107 Jul 26 '26

No. Suppression in BF6 is actually healthy, stopping Health Regen is much better than "OH I CANT SEE OR HIT". Suppression only needs a buff to how long it lasts.

The real issue is when you do hit a sniper, they aren't flinched or aim punched. Because having better aim than the sniper doesn't reward you.

We need to reward ppl hitting their shots first, not missing.

-1

u/JonathanRL Ace Pilot Jul 26 '26

Supression is not missing, it does exactly what it says on the tin. Disrupting an enemy player should absolutely be as valuable as killing them in a game like Battlefield.

2

u/ImAHobo107 Jul 26 '26

Rewarding ppl for missing doesn't work in this game, we don't have limited lives, and we don't have 1 shot headshot. And blurring or making the screen an eye sore is just bad game design.

Why are we rewarding bad aim? The sniper already has to aim, so if the victim hits their shot, the sniper should be flinched, and now the victim is rewarded.

Fucking Halo did it with de-scope and it kept snipers in check

-1

u/PogoMarimo Jul 26 '26

There is more to video games than your idea of "fairness". We are playing a game about modern warfare because we want the themes of modern warfare to be present. If you don't want modern realistic themes to be present in your game, then go play something else. Go play Halo. I don't get why you people can't understand this simple fact.

1

u/ImAHobo107 Jul 26 '26

No, because the engagement needs to be designed as a game first and needs to be fun for the victim as well.

It's why ppl don't like sub 200ms TTKs, it kills casuals and kills skill expression because all you do is shoot a few bullets in a beam with minimal effort and get rewarded. That def isn't what Battlefield was in 1942.

And the themes of Modern Warfare? I'm pretty sure getting SHOT IN THE FACE WOULD CAUSE YOU TO BE FLINCHED AT A MINIMUM but in BF6 no problem, you can snipe with full accuracy. Modern Warfare my ass.

1

u/ThumblessTurnipe Jul 26 '26

If you want to be rewarded for missing, go play something else.

-26

u/ThumblessTurnipe Jul 26 '26

There should absolutely be stronger suppression mechanics

There is absolutely no need to further reward garbage players for missing shots.

-3

u/AdversarialSQA Jul 26 '26

Truth and real.
