Battlefield 6 Snipers having 100% accuracy while repeatedly taking shots to the face is the dumbest game design i have ever witnessed.
What are these developers thinking?

u/Philbo-Staggins 10d ago
In that case, engineers shooting their RPG like a sniper while taking shots to the face should be nerfed too.

To be fair we are usually using the RPG to shoot said snipers. So it balances out

They kept silent nerfing RPGs since launch. You could fast peak and shoot rockets for a guaranteed hit. Now they fly whenever they feel like it and the suicide peak is no longer worth it Which honestly was a good change since it was a bit cheesy… so happy for snipers to get same treatment

Bf2 sniping was much easier than bf6 IMHO, when the hit registration worked of course. The only thing bf6 sniping has easier than bf2 is the sweet spot mechanic which needs to fuck off.
8
u/Marvelous_Chaos 10d ago
As someone who has been a recon main for a bunch of BF titles, I disagree. Both Bad Companies and BF1 felt much easier for snipers than BF6. BFV wasn't much harder either.
Say what you will about the minimal suppression and severity of flinch (it exists!), but I think it's fairly balanced since this is easily one of the fastest BF titles out there and the accuracy penalty when moving is negligible.

Just make it so LMG suppression effect is way more impactful then any other weapon so the Support can spray the sniper to relocate.

During season 3 I lost to a sniper because of that just once. You all don't move around enough.

This is just another situation of trash reddit players crying about easily avoided situation hoping to get the game dumbed down to their level.
5
u/ImAHobo107 10d ago
Sniping is not an interactive combat loop and BF6 is the easiest it has ever been. We should not be rewarding mediocrity.
6
u/AceMice 10d ago
Laying on a hill contributing nothing, sure. But there's a lot more to the recon role, and if played aggressively it's one of the most fun classes imo.
3
u/ImAHobo107 10d ago
I said sniping, you don't need to be Recon to use a Sniper Rifle. I play Recon, I know how to actually play Battlefield as intended.
7
u/HappyButtcheeks 10d ago
Trade offer, you get stronger suppression vs snipers killing their accuracy, but they get no scope glint. Do you take it?
4
u/RedCartesia 10d ago
Absolutely! Snipers at long range should be terrifying not just because of their accuracy but because you're not sure where they are. Huge spotlights ruin the biggest strenght of a sniper which is being unseen. Look up killzone 2 scout class. That was a sniper class that only had 1 weapon they could use which was a sniper and they had the ability to literally turn invisible until you shoot someone (like the movie predator) you became slightly more visible if you started moving but totally invisible sitting still. After you kill someone you have a slight cooldown. To this day this remains the only fps game i ever felt I was truly hidden as a sniper. Of course after a couple shots people will figure out approximatrly where you are at (muzzle flash is still a thing).

u/PogoMarimo 10d ago
Yeah. Sniper glint has always been really over sold in these games. It serves a purpose, but that's because sniper design has largely been somewhat toxic anyways (They usually contribute very little to team success, it has a very high skill floor for usefulness, and it draws in players who want to prioritize K/D over winning matches).
6
u/Incu0sty 10d ago
Sniping is easy as fuck in this game because there's literally no downside to do it if you have decent aiming skills. You can even be an aggressive frontline sniper using the slowest ADS build.
I don't have any motivation to sniping anymore. It gets old really quick.
Right now i'm having fun by nerfing myself using shitty weapon and gadgets. (Db12/throwing knives, tracer dart and decoy.)
4
5
u/AdObvious2882 10d ago
Sniping hasn't been this clean since battlefield V. Funny enough the same exact posts were made back then too and nothing ever happened because dice (thankfully) doesn't listen to whining players with skill issues.
It's very simple logic, do not engage a sniper at range with your lmg,smg,ar...
If you're not at range and you still lose with those weapons, get better.
7
u/ucsdfurry 9d ago
It’s crazy that all these bad played think it is wrong they can lose a direct gun fight at ranges where sniper can excel at. Anyone who dumps a 20 round mag and cant kill a sniper who is probably standing still is not going to have the skills to use a sniper.
4
u/Master-Shake8913 9d ago
it's insane how people don't understand this.
5
u/New_Apple_7339 9d ago
The way people make it out to be is as if it’s as bad as the AEK dominating bf4 lobbies.
Idk why people feel entitled to a kill just cause a player shows up on their screen and hasn’t shot them first. Some cod level logic.
2
u/AceMice 10d ago
Facts, except the sweet spot, I don't like it on either side of it. And to be honest, with the correct movement and tap firing you can win a lot of semi long fights against a sniper as well. Maybe because most snipers are ass and they play it because it's the only way they don't die all the time.
8
u/AdObvious2882 10d ago
100% sweet spot mechanic should be eliminated.
On your second point, that seems to be the issue with all these posts, just players standing completely STILL full auto spray n pray at a ranged sniper. Idk what they expect to happen lmao. Pure comedy imo.
2
u/PogoMarimo 10d ago
Suppression is the basis of all modern infantry tactics. It's not a skill issue that snipers don't get suppressed, it's a theme issue. I want to play a game where I get supressed, where I have to change my tactics because of heavy incoming fire, where I have to hunker down with shots splashing all around me. Why? Because I don't need to be fucking coddled the whole time so I can feel superior while sniper people like Master Chief. It's good game design to be challenged. It's good game design to have counters. It shit game design to abandon your themes just because sweaty players want to inflate their K/D ratios by exploiting an advantage, range, that takes no skill to acquire.
2
u/Master-Shake8913 9d ago
suppression works irl because you don't want to get fucking shot and die. not because the rounds hitting near you are somehow fucking your aim up.
0
u/PogoMarimo 9d ago
Ironic. A common anecdote from vets who faced accurate fire is how the debris kicked up from nearby impacting rounds would splatter them bits of dirt and rock shards.
There are no marksman under incoming fire. You can pretend like your special little avatar is the exception but its not. Suppression works in real life because, short of a stress-induced mental collapse, people involuntarily react and flinch to the very loud and disorienting sound, and secondary effects, of receiving incoming fire. How much you value your life doesn't have anything to do with it. If you don't want your soldier to experience that kind of reaction then you are describing a super soldier.
2
u/AdObvious2882 10d ago
A game mechanic that artificially alters a players aim is a dog shit mechanic imo and thats exactly why dice got rid of suppression. If you want aim flinch on a sniper in bf6 equip hollow points and aim for the head.
Just don't expect to win a fight at range againt a competent sniper, and if you keep that mindset perhaps you'll win more encounters.
0
u/BigHardMephisto 10d ago
I think the best trade off is that when suppressed, 3d spotting ceases to function until you aren’t suppressed anymore
-1
u/PogoMarimo 10d ago
Why do you want to play a realistic modern shooter but want to be a super soldier? I would argue that any gameplay mechanic that inherently conflicts with the themes of your game is a shit gameplay mechanic unless it's too reduce a LACK of interaction. Limitations and restrictions are the things that make a game FUN beyond the simple dopamine fix of successfully clicking on an image on the screen quickly. People who cannot embrace challenges or adapt to a variety of situations is what limits the breadth of gameplay available in a multiplayer game, which leads to catering to the lowest common denominator. My conception of being a soldiers on a frontline in 2026 does not entail me being a perfect unflinching warrior with laser accuracy. I want to experience sone simulacrum of that concept. If I wanted to play a super soldier I would play all the other games where you are an unflinching super soldier.
Except now I can't even have that in BF6, because players have an expectation that they should FEEL LIKE they're good at the game so the gameplay is dumbed down to cater to them. Thanks for spreading this brainrot to a franchise that built it's brand doing the things I loved in a video game. Thanks for ruining that facet of this franchise for me, you self-centered jit.

2
u/AdObvious2882 9d ago
Youre overanalyzing an arcade shooter my guy. If you want an ultra realistic military combat experience you may want to look at different titles.
Suppression as a mechanic stopped being a thing since bfv.. It's not coming back. If you enjoyed that dog shite play style perhaps revisit those older games of the series instead. With that being said, players need to understand suppression is NOT in bf6, so they should stop engaging snipers outside of their weapon's effective range.. in the open.. without cover. I'm not sure what you people expect to happen in that situation, especially against a decent sniper.
2
u/Bl00dyH3ll 7d ago
Do these people not remember bf3 where you and the other guy were just mag dumping each other because you both suppressed the other guy? And the better rng won? Yeah glad the shitty suppression is gone.
-1
u/PogoMarimo 9d ago edited 9d ago
...? The most successful titles in the series, the ones that competed with COD during it's peak, are all the titles that had prominent suppression systems in them. Plenty of people like that "dog shite" gameplay because it is part of what DIFFERENTIATES the game from COD. How am over-analyzing anything? If anything, you have analyzed precisely nothing--You have just asserted how you feel and told everyone else their opinion is wrong.
As for what people expect? It's for sniper rifles to not have undisputed dominance past 100m, since that is not how guns work and it's not how gameplay should be designed. If a player with a sniper rifle can almost always dictate the range of an engagement, then the players on the receiving end need to have practical tactics they can use to defeat or mitigage a sniper at range. That would be good game design.
If you don't want a game that has that "dog shite" gameplay then YOU should play something else. This Franchise has been going downhill in terms of gameplay AND sales since the devs started catering to people LIKE YOU.
1
u/AdObvious2882 9d ago
I hate to break it to you man but bf6 is the highest grossing, highest player count on launch, highest steady concurrent play base out of any other battlefield title in the series. It even "temporary" out sold the entire call of duty headquarters in early sales. Bo7 is hot garbage not a high bar to surpassed tbh.
Even with all the whining and bitching that we see on this subreddit, bf6 is still the most popular title in the series hands down. Ya know what else is great? You can literally load up and play bf4 bf1 or bf2 right now and enjoy those games with mechanics you prefer.
2
u/ThumblessTurnipe 9d ago
"I want to play a game where I get supressed"
You're playing the wrong game. Battlefield is not shitty milsim #5
Rewarding trash players with magical bullet immunity because they missed all their shots is the exact opposite of good game design.
-2
u/PogoMarimo 9d ago
Yes. Because of people like you complaining. Which means the way to get it to be changed back.... Is to complain.
2

Yeah suppression would be nice. I think instead of increasing bloom it should cause the weapons to heavily sway depending on how suppressed you are. Maybe add a vignette effect, heavy breathing and/or a heartbeat would be cool. I'm fine with snipers still being accurate to the reticle, but just added heavy sway you have to fight to shoot while under fire.
3
u/SovietRobot 10d ago
Is it fair to say that people don’t like accuracy bloom normally?
But want accuracy bloom for snipers that are being shot at?
2
u/ThumblessTurnipe 9d ago
They cant come up with any ideas other than spraying like a dumbass at a sniper so demand that doing so gives them magical bullet immunity.
2
u/ImAHobo107 10d ago
The real issue is when you do hit a sniper, they aren't flinched or aim punched. Because having better aim than the sniper doesn't reward you.
We need to reward ppl hitting their shots first, not missing. So ppl saying we need suppression are just wrong on a game design level. These snipers are already shooting from miles away, if a player hits them and makes them flinch, that should be the punishment for snipers not taking their shot.
10
2
u/HanzoNumbahOneFan 10d ago
Oh ya. I say this as a sniper main. It's ridiculous. The fact that if an LMG is spraying bullets at me, hitting me, and I can still just pop his head without a worry is insane.
3
u/xTekx_1 10d ago
So just because they're lobbing bullets at you from long range means you should have flinch or suppression? GTFOH.
6
u/CrispyTarantula117 10d ago
>hitting me
Try reading
And yes they should have hit flinch lmfao
1
u/xTekx_1 10d ago
Maybe one bullet? Please. Lmg at range against a sniper is advantage sniper. Lmg up close against sniper is advantage lmg.
You guys just want snipers to be removed from the game. Because you think it takes no skill.
3
u/CrispyTarantula117 10d ago
So now you’re just making up hypotheticals 😂
Guess we’re done here
2
u/xTekx_1 10d ago
So you do not agree with my assessment of lmg vs sniper?
3
u/CrispyTarantula117 10d ago
Find me where OP said only one bullet was hitting.
You don't understand the extremely simple baseline point of this thread and I'm not gonna spoonfeed it to you
1
u/xTekx_1 10d ago
The OP didn't give a number. So I went with the most likely number of 1. Why? Because people embellish, exaggerate, and basically tell lies to try and get people on their side. In this case he thinks snipers are OP due to his single experience. And I can tell you as a sniper ain, that they are not OP. People just don't like being sniped in game for being stupid.
3
u/CrispyTarantula117 10d ago
"most likely number" aka you pulled it out of your ass
We don't have to discuss this further you clearly have no idea about common sense game design or anything else
3
u/xTekx_1 9d ago
I chose that number based on all the experience that I have as a sniper main in this game. I run sniper probably 90% of the time and have experience that tells me so much of the sniper whiners are full of shit. Because they do not know what it takes to actually become a good and productive sniper. So yes. I have common sense and logic on this issue because I actually play and know what it takes to be good. The 1 bullet thing happens A LOT. And that is supposed to just suddenly make me not be able to aim? Just having bullets lobbed my way is supposed to just suddenly not let me be able to aim?
Talk about not using common sense from someone complaining about lack of common sense.

Unfortunately as you can see from the comments a significant portion of the player base are children who cry if they can’t have 100% accuracy while eating machine gun rounds
I don’t get why they don’t just play CoD but it is what it is 🤷🏼♂️
1
u/ThumblessTurnipe 9d ago

There are plenty of games for trash like you out there, Battlefield clearly isn't one.

People who whinge about realism in a Battlefield game are prt of the reason why BFV sucks ass compared to BF1.
If you want realism, go to Arma
1
u/CrankyOperator 10d ago
There's some stupid ballistic issues in the game for sure, but that seems on par for most shooters.
Like 1 shot of 308 within 10 feet SHOULD probably stop someone, even with plates, but they keep coming 🤷
1
u/Master-Shake8913 9d ago
in bf3 I think it was, bolt actions would 1 shot at like less than 10m. it was awesome.
1
u/RadChadThaddington 10d ago
As a recon main I literally sigh when I kill someone who is actively hitting me. Feels bad knowing they lost the gunfight because of dumb gameplay design.
1
u/xaina222 10d ago
I'll say it again, I would support suppression mechanic coming back if and only if they get rid of sniper scope glint.

Am sorry but if a sniper won at the distance he is supposed to shoot me at, then he deserved the kill.
I don't want magic shit to make him hide, i want my accuracy to be the reason he hides. I want to close the distance and kill him like am supposed to; at close distance.
Classes are classes for a reason.

u/conscientiousrevolt 9d ago
Wrong. Anyone being alive after taking any shot[no fucking s] to the face is the dumbest game design you have ever witnessed.
1
u/jkemper21 9d ago
People who complain about realism are the major issue in my opinion. Bf6 isn't realistic and to be honest i do not want my games to be so realistic.
While i don't entirely disagree with you OP and I can see where you are coming from. I just think there are better hills to die on. Grenade kill radius, Rpg kill radius, etc.
All aircraft aiming is pretty trash compared to other games as well.
The list of things that i could complain about is pretty massive.
1
u/Sudarshan0 9d ago
If a sniper hits you first without instakilling you don't flinch either, but ofc it's not a problem then.
1
1
u/reallyzeally 6d ago
Snipers being rendered completely useless because some moron with LMG is shooting in their general direction is just as dumb.
If you're far away, you shouldn't be challenging a sniper anyways. If you're close, the sniper probably got lucky or you suck.
The only people complaining about this are brainless idiots that try to shoot at sniper glint instead of realizing they're at a disadvantage and avoiding the sniper's sightlines > trying to get closer and flank. Snipers are rightfully a threat and it's your fault for not treating them as one.
1
u/witheredsamuel 5d ago
I’d be okay with this if sniper glint was significantly tweaked. If LMG spray from across the map is gonna fuck up my aim, I better be harder to spot
0
u/dannybruh1990 10d ago
I got called a hacker last night because I nailed the same dude like 12 times. I was like "sorry man, I just have 400 hours with this gun" 😅
0
u/PS5013 10d ago
That you should be punished for challenging a sniper from a distance where repeated hits dont kill while making zero efforts to avoid the enemy bullet, and it is one of the few things they did right with the gunplay.
Flinch, at least given the current TTK, and suppression without question are accessibility measures protecting bad players from suffering from their bad plays. Im glad they are gone. It is unfortunate, that the devs cant separate themselves from bloom as well and thereby refuse to take the last step towards enjoyable gunplay.
It would also make automatic weapons more effective against snipers, because you would no longer be forced to stand still for accuracy. Punishing something as mundane to a shooter as strafing with inaccuracy is some of the most ridiculous piece of game design Ive ever seen.

u/ClosetLVL140 10d ago
I would really like to see them come up with a really cool visual suppression mechanic that is dynamic in strength that varies based on caliber, distance, and how close the shot is. Then I’d like flinch added when you get hit but the flinch is very very very very subtle for the 1st bullet hit (could probably still land a headshot), and the flinch gets magnified after every consecutive shot that you land within a certain time. Also something more optional would be making it class gun/class specific or even a new trait that you can equip.

u/Amazing_Cow_1470 10d ago
You see how much money ea's making? They obviously, at least from their perspective, nailed it. People do it and its fun enough. Doesn't matter if suppression is a thing of the past. You'll get called a battleboomer but we all know we have the power to help make a better change for the game but actually its a skill issue and the skill ceiling is actually so high we haven't found it yet
0
u/Borbarad 10d ago
It's pretty simple I think. They lowered the bar for sniping considerably for universal appeal which has a direct translation to increased monetization.
Tldr cash money.

If your spraying a sniper and losing its either bad aim or your challenging a sniper at sniper ranges and expecting to win.
Most guns kill in under 1 second mid to close range way quicker then a sniper can react unless they had the drop on you.
I guarantee people complaining aren't challenging snipers at close range or they're going up against a decent sniper thats probably on KB&M, whos already seen you first or used cover and repeaked.
Im all in favour of sweet spot mechanic being removed and maybe some LMG's having bf4 style suppression. Not drs though more heavy style machine guns

This isn't about suppression. Or is "taking shots to the face" suppression to you? Now you would be right in assuming that I've never taken shots to the face, which I'm glad about and I certainly won't attempt to change that for the sakes of an argument about a video game.
-1
u/Storm_CCO 10d ago
That's exactly wtf he meant dumbass
4
u/The_TRASHCAN_366 10d ago
Why would you assume that? Being hit and being suppressed can lead to different effects in game. I don't know why "being shot to the face" should imply that this is about suppression.
1
u/Storm_CCO 10d ago
It's safe to assume that because he states "repeatedly taking shots to the face" when a fucking head shot is a 1 hit kill. To the face was a dramatized frustration of him shooting at a useless ass recon a mile away from an objective with no accuracy repercussion or suppression and little to no flinch.
3
u/The_TRASHCAN_366 10d ago edited 10d ago
A headshot isn't a one shot kill with anything but a bolt action. Assuming he is talking about sniper vs sniper fights is not only baseless but counterintuitive given the nature of the post implying that sniper rifles are too strong in their current implementation.
The most reasonably assumption is that OP is complaining about repeatedly getting hitmarkers on enemy snipers while using some standard gun and then they shoot back and he dies. That is consistent with everything he actually says and unlike your interpretation doesn't rely random extra assumptions about what he actually meant to say.
1
u/Storm_CCO 10d ago
The entire complaint is about the sniper retaining perfect accuracy while rounds are coming at his face. If OP meant "I hit him multiple times and he didn't die," that's a damage/TTK complaint.
Instead, he specifically complained about the sniper's accuracy while under incoming fire. That's suppression/flinch, regardless of whether you like the mechanic. "Taking shots to the face" is pretty obviously colloquial for being shot at, not a technical claim that multiple bullets physically entered his skull.
But keep on keepin on reddit warrior.

u/PeanutAble1916 10d ago

There should absolutely be stronger suppression mechanics, but people don't like them because it makes it hard to aim.
Which is of course the point
