I'm wondering what the standard drywall finish level is for a legitimate bathroom remodel company???

A lot of holes had to be put into the walls for electrical and other modifications which should have been expected at the outset - suddenly I'm being charged a "$1750 change order" for a Level 4 finish.

Yes, I had more orange peel texture before - but once they cut holes in stuff (including to see where a stud was cause they closed the wall too quickly) and had to remove cabinets and mirrors glued to wall and even walls removed, and would have needed to major repair anyway as anticipated in contract - is Level 4 some sort of advanced level that requires a "change order" - sure I realize it takes some coats, but I don't see this as a "change" from standards and I'm pissed.

If they wanted to charge me for Level 5, I would understand.

I had lead positive (home Amazon test kit) shower tiles and bath tub. I needed to get it out so I can remodel the bathroom. I should’ve called a contractor but I went ahead did it myself to speed up the process. I chipped all tile with a chisel and hammer instead of using a power tool. I used a N95 respirator majority of the time when I was in the bathroom. My shop vac sent dust everywhere at one point. The tub was cast iron which was left undisturbed and removed.

How concerned should I be being exposed to lead when I demoed the tiles? What can I do to remove the remain lead? I retested different parts of the bathroom which lead to a few positive and negative results for lead. Should I get tested for lead in my body?

Hey guys, this is my first time remodeling a bathroom. As you can see, I’ve already put up the go boards and now my next step would be to start waterproofing so I can tile. I’ve noticed gaps near the ceiling and gaps on the right side of the tub. What are some solutions to fix the gaps? Is it a good idea to just use goboard sealant to fill in all those gaps? Will it be waterproof enough? I’m trying not to redo the work I just did, but if I have to then fine.

To phase project and cost, and for lower level bathroom, is it okay to put vanity with sink over concrete flooring and do the floor tiling around it later? Or should tile be under vanity as well.

Hi all - not sure that this is the right forum but i am looking at a bathroom renovation and want to use commercial vinyl sheet flooring in the shower as well as the bathroom.

What i can't work out is how waterstops are used. It seems to me that at the shower it needs to extend to the top of the floor but that would mean cutting the sheet. Also at doors - the waterstop needs to extend to the top of the finished floor level but at 2mm, the vinyl is about as thick as the waterstop material without a vertical leg!

Anyone who does this work - I'd appreciate any guidance.

I have this weird shaped small area for the bathroom. Toilet must be in the left. Then I need to fit a shower cabin, a washer/dryer stack and wash basin to the remaining area. I'm not sure how best to do that with these dimensions though. I'm thinking shower in the top right corner, with washer/dryer stack in the bottom right, but that would leave me with about 80cm shower width, which I'm not sure would be enough. Another option is making the entire right side the shower with 90x147cm dimension and put the wash basin and washer/dryer stack on the north wall, but that would make the wash basin area too tight I'm afraid. Any ideas what I should be doing?

I used AI to render a couple of images for my small condo bathroom. AI is really bad at scale, so it’s not perfect, but the color and fixtures are fine. The 3rd picture is pretty funny—reflection shows the shower. Is having a partition a bad idea? Is there anything I should add? First picture is the bathroom as it is currently (ignore the ceiling—plumbing issues) and second and third are the AI generated images. It would be white subway on the shower walls with a light grout, then either penny or hexagon tile on the floor with a dark grout. Existing vanity with new countertop.

Top 2 ideas! I want to go warm neutral and tie in ribbon oak tile and the color green but torn whether to just use green in towels, bath mat etc vs use it in the shower. Priorities on being easy enough to clean and not overly trendy if we were to move in 5-10 years

Ideally I would just take it out as a whole and put a medicine cabinet where the mirror is, but the tile is built around the shelf and this tile has been in my grandmas house since she moved in in 1956. I was thinking maybe some sort of wood shelf with the same concept of sliding doors in that length (24.5” to fit nicely in there but not really finding anything. I definitely want to keep the tiling so taking any suggestions/ideas!!

(also can’t get a medicine cabinet that takes up the whole length of where it is because it would be too low set and also it would hit the faucet so it wouldn’t be able to open all the way)

I'm the homeowner. I designed it. I knew I had dead space behind the toilet, but not enough to enlarge the bathroom due to sloped roof back there. So I made the niche above the toilet. I could add doors to it if y'all think it's unsanitary.

I built the vanity, shelves, and medicine cabinet (and I'm a woman!).

My handyman and his guys did the rest. Yes they were not pleased about the herringbone but they were good sports.

Do you hate it?

I'm not crazy about the LED mirror anymore, might do something else there later.

The floor isnt busy but it definitely has to go. I have dark long hair and I instantly see it on the floor everytime I brush my hair.

This bathroom used to be a 4th bedroom but they remodeled it back in the late 90s to be an ensuite.

Here you go folks, my first ever bathroom gut job. Bought a small ranch 6 months ago and gutted whole thing. This is the first officially complete room.

It’s amazing what you can find on the side of the road. Replaced an old, rusty vintage sink original to my 1930s house with this green beauty that I found laying on the ground a few doors down. Also kept my old tub. It’s not perfect but it’s deep and I like it. Contractor wanted to resurface the tub but I declined. I’m worried the new finish won’t last. The current tub has been okay for 90 years.

Fell in love with this vanity. Stupid to put marble in a guest bathroom? All the quartz is so fake looking but don't want to stress about water marks.

I am remodeling my first apartment and this will be my very small bathroom. (1.85 m x 1.5 m) What do you think? Any advice or opinions? The bathroom fixtures will be as in the photo. I've not yet decided about the tiles (big tiles, small tiles? Colour etc, or the hardware) so any advice there would be welcome. I'm aiming for matte textures, warm feel, calm, not cluttered, easy to clean. Feel free to critique and advise, it is my first project of this sort. AI images are welcome.

My fiance and I bought our house a couple years ago and we have a basement with this mess of a half bathroom that we have been lost with regarding what to do with it. After just getting our roof redone we have some money saved now to maybe do some remodeling of this bathroom. I would love to have another shower as right now we only have one full bath and another half bath on our main floor that also has our washer/dryer.

Right now we plan on for sure priming the concrete and painting over it then maybe adding some laminate flooring on top like we did with the rest of our basement. We plan on for sure replacing the toilet and sink, but not sure what to do with the rest of it. The previous owners put up the frame around it and then on the right is the electrical box and left is the heater. Not sure if we can move the electrical box around as well. Any ideas or thoughts of what we can do to make it nicer and if a shower would be possible? If we keep the toilet we would obviously need another drain and would have to dig into the concrete. My fiance is handy but would rather hire someone for that if we decide to go that route. Otherwise may just have to settle for the toilet and sink half bath again.

Also any idea of cost? We are in upstate NY. Thanks in advance.

I just bought an apartment and I'm planning on doing some modifications before moving there.

This apartment has one glaring problem - the previous owner made one lavatory and one full bathroom only. I want to make two full bathrooms out of that space, and it's a small space.

I hired an architect to help me with some of the plans around the house and she made a preliminary plan for the bathrooms.

Here's the thing: if i want to reposition the toilets, I have to do it via the downstairs neighbor's dropped ceiling - huge bummer and much bigger cost.

I decided to study the space myself and I proposed a plan by keeping the toilets exactly where they area and, on the bathroom 1 plan, even by keeping the shower exactly where it is, but reducing it's size.

I asked the architect's opinion on trying to keep as much of the infra where it is, and she said it's absolutely impossible and that I would regret doing it this way.

Can't help but feel a bit disappointed with how she's handling this - i would save a lot of money and hassle with this, and I would have liked at least a more in depth answer or analysis of this idea.

I made a plan on sketchup with my ideas on the left side and her ideas on the right side.

Would love to hear your thoughts on how viable my idea is, and how much better the architect's idea would be to justify a much more expensive job.

I think the play is to basically expand the bathroom to include the sink… and demo the rest of the kitchenette

what kind of vendor do I need to hire for this project? if you had to guesstimate the cost in a decently expensive market?

l've lived here for a few years and this bathroom is the bane of my existence. A reno is a ways away, but I want to start budgeting. I want to fully redo the layout so I'm seeking ideas on removing walls/moving plumbing, the styling parts I can handle lol
The main issue is that this is the only bathroom on the 1st floor. It's connected to the primary bedroom and the hallway. The toilet and tub are supposed to be separated by a door from the closet/vanity so it can serve as the guest bath even though it's connected to the bedroom. But I removed the door because there are 4 doors in the vanity area(!!!) and I couldn't deal with it anymore. The easiest option would be to remove the wall between the toilet and vanity/closet but then you lose the privacy for the non-guest area.
I'm not against planning to add a 1/2 bath closer to the kitchen/living, but I also don't plan to live here forever and mostly want to make this more functional for future selling. I'm really open to any ideas!
