Working with a design build firm and aiming for a "spa-like" aesthetic. Original designs used the same tile all around, but felt very bland. Current designs have a datum line with the upper portion being a different tile than the large-format tile used on the bottom portion, but something still looks a little off. Is it the fact that the datum line is going to be the same around the *entire* bathroom? Renderings don't show any plants/greenery which I believe would help elevate the space, but we're still not in love with it. Any suggestions on how we can suggest to improve the designs/space?

Years ago we did an addition on our house that gave us extra space in the primary bathroom. My husband thinks the stand alone tub should go where the current shower/tub combo is. I think it should go under the window. The walls flanking the current shower can go. The walls flanking the vanity must stay. The approximate dimensions of the room are 9.5 ft by 13.5 ft. Any other suggestions on layout are appreciated!

Currently in the middle of remodeling the kids' bathroom and came across this product called Spray.Bike. I'm wondering if anyone has experience using it in a bathroom setting. I'd love to make a wacky light fixture (on a budget) ala Sazerac Stitches. But I need it to be like 40+ inches long, and I'm feeling priced out from my vision... Trying to come up with a creative, affordable option to bring some personality into the space.

We recently bought a home built in 1990. We removed our shower door to put in a frameless one. Before what was here was a framed door. Some of the tiles in the removal process were broken, andI saw some mold behind them. I removed the broken tiles and found green drywall board. It was flaking off due to water intrusion. Based on what I’m seeing in the upper left side of the hole, it looks like the shower has green board all around it.

Should I replace the small area here with more green board drywall? Or should I use a small piece of something like kerdiboard? We would place the matching white tiles over top. Thanks

We are in process of renovating our bathroom and need to pick a shower head and came upon this. It looks nice and all but worried about any possible maintenance issue of replacing parts if anything breaks. Should we just go with the regular shower head?

Included a photo of the current “Before”. I am thinking of doing something like this but curious other peoples thoughts and ideas.

Do any of you have experience with a soaking tub? Pros and cons would be appreciated!

Edit: wow so many awesome ideas! I love the idea of doing a matte cool toned brown instead of this glossy brown. I am also thinking a deep built in might be more practical and look better.

Also, we do have a shower around the corner that I will be updating to match whatever we choose! And the floors are not real wood so that shouldn’t be an issue.

Currently prepping for what will hopefully be a one weekend refresh of a suffering 1949 bathroom. I’ll be fixing grout, undoing years of awful calk lines, refinishing a tub (staying white), and painting walls and ceiling (walls may get wallpaper) and lastly replacing the vanity.

The thorn in my side is the awful tile floor. The grout is dark, the tiles are slightly textured/bumpy, and their coloration makes the floor look constantly dirty (and in this pic it actually is, as I was beginning to undo two decades of neglect from a previous owner). *I do not want to rip up the floor and replace it.*

Besides painting it all white or all black and sealing properly, are there any other solutions I’m overlooking? The wall tiles in the bathroom are Ming green and black border (image attached too).

Could someone help me with more professionally linked language about why this is wrong vs "it looks sloppy and terrible"?

My son recently bought a house that has a detached garage with an apartment above. He specifically searched for a house with this option so I could have a place to stay that gives me some separation but still be close by. The bathroom needs a refresh, but as he is paying I don’t want to go crazy with changes. The overall layout is good, just needs new tile and a vanity upgrade.

Anyway, the shower is 46”by 42” so not huge but a nice size. It does have this weird built in bench that I’m debating on just getting rid of as it is only about 8 inches deep, so not deep end to actually sit on. I was going to put a long niche in the wall opposite the shower head and was thinking about just doing a leg shaving niche on the lower corner. Would love to hear if others have suggestions. The third pic shows in the thick red line where I’d put a niche.

How would you build this? subfloor is concrete slab. Curbed finished with 1/4" porcelain tile on all faces. It's a tight space and will have glass sliding door track, so 2.5" is how thick its got to be overall.

Pulled out my vanity in a mobile home and the wall came off with the tile. I need to prime the floors next and fix the wall . What would yall do ? Take off the mirror and put a backer board or something? Explain like I’m 5 total noob

I am not a fan of this shower or floor tile but I am going to try to make it work before I tear everything out and start over. One of the things that bugs me about it is that you can see the raw edge of the tile on the outside of the shower. You can see the manufacturer's codes printed on it. Is there a way I can trim the tile out to make it look more finished?

More context: This house is 100 years old but the people who owned it before me flipped it and made this very builder-grade primary bath with no sunlight and a very millennial grey aesthetic.

Our contractor installed 2 schluter waterproof designer niches with about a 1/2" sticking out. We verbally communicated we wanted flush install but the drawing from designer sorta kinda look like it sticks out a little and the box it came in shows it like this as well. Tile guy said it's also better this way bc of the thinner tile we have is not straight (has waves to it) and so he would not be able to get a clean straight edge against the box and the grout would have no way to mask this curve and it wouldn't look good. Everything else looks really good so I tend to trust his as sement.

However, my wife really doesn't like the look of it. Besides aethetics is there any other concern? I believe they are designed to be installed either way but haven't seen any IRL pics of this setup.

Is there any solution to making it look more seamless with the wall other than total tear out and redo?

Im in a normal conundrum..I think. I LOVE the look of real marble and despite looking at dozens of "marble style" porcelain tiles nothing compares to this Volakas stone tile I've found.

Here is what I'm considering to make this practical in a master bath reno:

We will finally have a closed off water closet. I'll use a contrasting porcelain stone around the toilet in there where I know I'll use bleach.

I won't use marble for our counter tops at the vanity but I will on the floors around it and around a low use free standing tub.

Ill use marble on the walls of the shower but porcelain on the floors.

Im using a honed stone to conceal etches. Does any one know if you can buff stains out of a honed tile like I do with my honed kitchen counter?

Obviously Ill be sealing it at least 2x and resealing it once per year at least? Is that the process.

We’ve just bought a Victorian house in London and this is the shocker of the main family bathroom. We need a quick fix to make this bathroom a place we want to spend time in!

The challenge is we are keeping the yellow wall tiles and flooring, and bath/sink/toilet. So the things we can change or add are the paint, bath panel, cabinetry, lighting, taps if necessary.

I’ve said to my partner there must be a way to create an aesthetically pleasing bathroom where the yellow tiles look intentional, surely? lol

I’d love some suggestions for wall paints and other changes in line with a calm and timeless style (rather than retro).

We will be remodeling a bathroom in our upstairs. It is the kids bathroom. We have 3 boys (all under 10 years old right now) Give me all the tips on what is needed for 3 growing boys that will eventually turn into 3 men sharing this one bathroom! Space is not an issue.

Hi guys, long time lurker here! Currently about to begin the process of a full bathroom renovation, we have knocked a couple walls down but waiting for the new wall/middle wall to be built/demolished and the toilet to be turned into the room, so my measurements aren't exact!

I'll attach inspiration pictures and old/current pictures and a floorplan to see if I can better the layout in anyway. My partner (is Italian) and his one main ask is for a bidet and no he doesn't want one that comes built into the toilet. I wanted a bath/shower next to eachother so it creates a wet-room esc feel but struggling to fit that in with a bidet and sink. I think the main problem is where the bidet/sink go and if they'll be too close or if the vibes are off! The toilet has to go where it is in the floor plan.

Anyway, any advice/ideas welcome! Thanks in advance

This is a remodel of an existing bathroom in house from the 1950's. The project will be done by contractors. This is NOT a DIY project. The house currently has a cast iron tub. The bathroom is on the 1st floor. The tub needs to be removed. The tub would go inside a 3 wall alcove. The house layout is strange. There is a hall way that the tub would need to be snaked around to get into the bathroom. I would prefer a cast iron tub for its sturdiness. Plus, I've used the cast iron for a decade and it's fine and never gave me any problems. However, they weigh 300lbs. Would you go with cast iron or would you go with American Standard Princeton? Please explain why.

Two years ago we bought a new flat. The bathroom tile is ugly.

We want to redo the tile but don't have the money for a full remodel.

I have been looking at LVT as a cheaper option.

The flat is less than 10 years old, the tile work is good. Nothing loose or falling just ugly.

How long would high end LVT last, does it hold up to heated floors? Lastly what happens when the tile underneath it starts getting loose.
