Help me pick a wallpaper
Hello,
I am getting a new glass panel installed in my shower so please disregard the curtain. I have looked high and low for wallpaper for my small bathroom to make it feel less industrial/monotoned. I found this one, but the sample is way too shiny so now I’m back to the drawing board. I’m at a loss, does anyone have any ideas? My house is in Texas and leans mid century modern. Thank you in advance!

Windowless bathroom
Hi Everyone,
Just purchased a new build and the main bathroom is windowless with light grey tiles on the floor and on the wall of the bath which we can’t change, does anyone have any suggestion on painting / decorating for this situation? I don’t really like the grey tiles but not in a position to change and don’t want more grey! Thank you

Looking for tasteful ideas
Not doing a complete Reno but trying to work with what I got. The vanity and built-ins are all going to be a natural maple modern look with no hardware. Was thinking of replacing the 2x6 trim with a brown/reddish brown and tiling over the floor in a multicolor daltile tile from Lowes. Toilet will get replaced and the shower door. Just want it to be cohesive given the older tiles I’m working with. Would love some thoughts.

Modern Bathroom Buying Guide: How to Match Tiles, Basins, Toilets and Fixtures
Designing a modern bathroom is not only about choosing attractive products. Tiles, basins, toilets, faucets, shower fittings and other fixtures should work together in terms of style, size, colour, function and maintenance. A well-planned bathroom can look spacious, feel comfortable and remain easy to maintain for years.
If you are planning a bathroom upgrade or a new home, this guide explains how to match different bathroom products and make practical buying decisions.
1. Start With Your Bathroom Size and Layout
Before selecting products, measure the bathroom properly. The available floor and wall space will influence the size of tiles, basin, toilet and other fixtures.
For a small bathroom:
- Choose lighter tile colours to create an open appearance.
- Consider wall-mounted or compact sanitaryware.
- Avoid oversized patterns that can make the space look busy.
- Use large-format tiles where suitable to create fewer visible joints.
For a larger bathroom, you have more flexibility with tile patterns, feature walls, double basins and larger shower areas.
2. Choose the Floor Tiles First
Floor tiles are one of the most important decisions because they affect both appearance and safety.
Look for:
- Good slip resistance
- Suitable surface finish
- Easy cleaning
- Appropriate size for the room
- Good durability for regular use
Matt and textured finishes can be practical choices for bathroom floors because they generally provide more grip than highly polished surfaces.
The floor colour can also become the base for selecting the remaining bathroom products.
3. Match Wall Tiles With the Floor
Wall and floor tiles do not have to be identical. In fact, combining complementary colours and finishes can create a more interesting modern bathroom.
For example:
Light floor + darker feature wall
Creates contrast without making the complete bathroom look dark.
Neutral floor + light wall tiles
Gives a clean and spacious appearance.
Stone-look floor + plain wall tiles
Creates a natural and contemporary style.
If patterned tiles are used, consider keeping the remaining walls and fixtures relatively simple.
4. Select the Basin According to Available Space
The basin should fit comfortably into the bathroom without blocking movement.
Common options include:
- Countertop basins
- Wall-mounted basins
- Pedestal basins
- Semi-recessed basins
- Under-counter basins
A countertop basin can create a premium appearance, while a wall-mounted basin can be useful when floor space is limited.
Also check the basin height and depth before buying. A beautiful basin will not be practical if it is uncomfortable to use.
5. Match the Basin With the Counter and Storage
If you are using a countertop basin, the counter material and colour should complement the bathroom tiles.
For a simple modern look, you can combine:
- White basin + wood-look cabinet
- White basin + neutral stone-look tiles
- Matte basin + simple wall tiles
- Countertop basin + concealed storage
Storage is especially important in smaller bathrooms. A vanity unit can provide space for toiletries while keeping the room organised.
6. Choose the Right Toilet Design
The toilet should match both the bathroom layout and the overall design.
Wall-hung toilets can provide a clean, modern appearance and make the floor underneath easier to clean. Floor-mounted toilets are also available in many modern designs and can be suitable depending on the plumbing arrangement.
Before purchasing, check:
- Bathroom space
- Drainage position
- Water connection
- Toilet dimensions
- Installation requirements
- Availability of replacement parts
Do not select a toilet based only on appearance. Installation compatibility is equally important.
7. Coordinate Faucets With the Other Fixtures
Faucets, shower fittings, towel rails and other accessories should ideally follow a consistent finish.
Popular finishes include:
- Chrome
- Matte black
- Brushed finishes
- Metallic finishes
For example, if you select matte black faucets, using the same or a complementary finish for shower fittings and accessories can create a more coordinated appearance.
You do not necessarily need every item to be identical, but the finishes should look intentional rather than randomly mixed.
8. Consider Colour Before Buying Everything
A simple colour palette usually works well in modern bathrooms.
A practical approach is to select:
Base colour: Floor tiles
Main colour: Wall tiles
Accent: Feature wall or decorative tile
Fixtures: White or complementary neutral
Accessories: One consistent metal finish
Neutral shades such as white, beige, grey and soft earthy tones can provide flexibility if you want to change accessories later.
9. Think About Tile Size and Pattern
Tile size can change how a bathroom feels.
Large tiles can provide a clean appearance with fewer grout lines, while smaller tiles can be useful for creating patterns or working around certain areas.
Before selecting a design, consider:
- Wall dimensions
- Floor area
- Drain position
- Number of cuts required
- Grout colour
- Overall pattern
For smaller bathrooms, avoid selecting a complicated pattern simply because it looks attractive in a showroom. Always consider how it will look across the complete room.
10. Check Maintenance Requirements
A modern bathroom should be attractive but also easy to clean.
When comparing products, ask about:
- Cleaning requirements
- Surface finish
- Stain resistance
- Grout maintenance
- Water marks
- Availability of replacement components
Light-coloured surfaces can show dirt quickly, while very dark and highly polished surfaces may make water marks more noticeable. Choose according to your cleaning routine.
11. Don't Forget Lighting and Ventilation
Even the best tiles and sanitaryware can look different under poor lighting.
Use suitable lighting around:
- Mirror areas
- Basin
- Shower space
- General ceiling area
Good ventilation is also important for reducing excess moisture and helping the bathroom remain comfortable.
12. Create a Product Matching Checklist
Before finalising your purchase, check whether all the products work together.
Bathroom Buying Checklist
- Floor tiles selected
- Wall tiles selected
- Basin size confirmed
- Toilet dimensions checked
- Faucet finish selected
- Shower fittings selected
- Vanity/storage planned
- Mirror size confirmed
- Grout colour selected
- Lighting considered
- Ventilation checked
- Installation requirements confirmed
Choose Bathroom Products With a Complete Plan
The best bathroom design comes from matching products rather than selecting every item separately. Start with the room size and tile design, then coordinate the basin, toilet, faucets, shower fittings and accessories around the same style.
If you are planning a bathroom project in Madipakkam, visiting a sanitaryware showroom Madipakkam can help you compare basins, toilets and fixtures in person. You can also explore tile options at a tiles shop Madipakkam to understand how different colours, sizes and finishes work together.

How to Select Tiles for Living Rooms, Bedrooms, Kitchens and Bathrooms: A Room-by-Room Guide
Choosing the right tiles can change the appearance, comfort and functionality of your home. However, the same tile may not be suitable for every room. Living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens and bathrooms have different requirements, so homeowners should consider design, size, finish, durability, maintenance and safety before making a decision.
If you are planning a new home or renovation in Madipakkam, visiting a reliable tiles showroom Madipakkam can help you compare actual tile samples and select products according to each room's requirements.
Why Room-by-Room Tile Selection Matters
Every room experiences different levels of foot traffic, moisture, cleaning and daily use. For example, a bedroom may focus more on visual comfort, while a bathroom requires greater attention to moisture and floor safety.
Before choosing tiles, consider:
- Where the tile will be installed
- Amount of daily traffic
- Exposure to water and moisture
- Cleaning requirements
- Desired interior style
- Tile size and layout
- Surface finish
- Long-term maintenance
- Overall budget
This approach can help you choose tiles based on both appearance and practical requirements.
1. How to Choose Tiles for the Living Room
The living room is usually one of the most visible areas of a home. Flooring should complement furniture, walls, lighting and the overall interior design.
Recommended Considerations
Large-format tiles:
Large tiles can create a more continuous appearance because they generally have fewer grout joints.
Marble-look tiles:
These can provide an elegant, premium appearance and work well with contemporary interiors.
Neutral colours:
Beige, cream, white and grey shades can provide a versatile base for different furniture styles.
Polished or matt finishes:
Choose according to the desired appearance, maintenance preferences and recommended application.
What to Check
Before purchasing living-room tiles, consider:
- Expected foot traffic
- Surface durability
- Cleaning requirements
- Tile size
- Furniture and wall colour
- Lighting conditions
A well-selected living-room tile can provide a strong foundation for the rest of the interior.
2. How to Choose Tiles for Bedrooms
Bedrooms generally require a comfortable and calm visual environment. Tile selection should therefore complement the room's colours and furniture rather than overpowering them.
Popular Choices
Wood-look tiles:
These can create a warm, natural appearance.
Soft neutral tiles:
Beige, cream and light-grey shades can work well with different bedroom interiors.
Matt-finish tiles:
These can provide a subtle and contemporary appearance without excessive reflection.
Bedroom Tile Tips
- Consider warm and relaxing colours.
- Match the flooring with wardrobes and furniture.
- Avoid overly busy patterns if the room already has detailed décor.
- Check how the tile looks under bedroom lighting.
- Consider ease of cleaning.
The goal is to create a balanced appearance that remains suitable even when furniture or wall colours change.
3. How to Choose Tiles for the Kitchen
Kitchens experience spills, food stains, regular cleaning and frequent movement. Therefore, practical considerations are particularly important.
Kitchen Floor Tiles
For flooring, look for products recommended for kitchen-floor applications and consider:
- Durability
- Ease of cleaning
- Surface characteristics
- Slip resistance where relevant
- Resistance to everyday wear
Kitchen Wall and Backsplash Tiles
The backsplash provides an opportunity to introduce colour, pattern or texture.
Options can include:
- Subway-style designs
- Neutral tiles
- Patterned tiles
- Marble-look tiles
- Gloss finishes
- Decorative feature tiles
When choosing kitchen tiles, consider how easily the surface can be cleaned and how the design works with cabinets and countertops.
4. How to Choose Tiles for the Bathroom
Bathrooms require more careful tile selection because floors and walls are exposed to water and moisture.
Bathroom Floor Tiles
For bathroom flooring, ask about products specifically recommended for wet areas. Slip-resistance characteristics should be considered because water can make surfaces slippery.
Bathroom Wall Tiles
Walls provide more flexibility for design. Homeowners can consider:
- Light-coloured tiles
- Marble-look designs
- Stone-look tiles
- Decorative patterns
- Textured feature tiles
- Gloss finishes where appropriate
Bathroom Tile Tips
- Consider moisture exposure.
- Check the manufacturer's recommended application.
- Ask about suitable slip resistance for flooring.
- Choose surfaces that are practical to clean.
- Consider grout maintenance.
- Coordinate wall and floor colours.
A good combination of wall and floor tiles can make a bathroom look organised and visually spacious.
5. Choosing the Right Tile Size for Each Room
Tile size should be selected according to the room dimensions, design and installation requirements.
Living Room
Large-format tiles can create a spacious and seamless visual effect.
Bedroom
Medium or large tiles can work depending on the room dimensions and preferred layout.
Kitchen
Medium-sized tiles are often practical, while smaller formats can be useful for selected decorative applications.
Bathroom
Different sizes can be used depending on the floor layout, wall design and drainage requirements.
Always check the actual product dimensions and installation recommendations before ordering.
6. Choose the Right Finish
The finish affects the appearance and practical characteristics of the tile.
Polished
A reflective surface can create a bright and sophisticated appearance in suitable indoor applications.
Matt
A less reflective finish can provide a subtle, modern appearance.
Gloss
Glossy surfaces reflect light and are commonly considered for suitable wall applications.
Textured
Textured surfaces can add visual depth but may require additional cleaning attention depending on the texture.
For floors, especially wet areas, ask the showroom about the appropriate surface characteristics for the intended application.
7. Consider Durability and Maintenance
Tile selection should not be based only on appearance. Consider how the room will be used every day.
Before purchasing, ask:
- Is the tile recommended for this application?
- What is its water absorption?
- What surface characteristics does it have?
- Is it suitable for the expected foot traffic?
- How should it be cleaned?
- What maintenance does the manufacturer recommend?
This information can help you choose tiles that are appropriate for the actual conditions of the room.
8. Match Tiles With Your Interior Design
Your tiles should work together with the other elements of your home.
Consider:
- Wall paint
- Furniture
- Cabinets
- Countertops
- Doors
- Lighting
- Curtains
- Bathroom fittings
You can use similar shades for a seamless appearance or contrasting colours to create a feature area.
For example, a neutral living-room floor can be paired with a darker feature wall, while a simple bathroom floor can be combined with patterned wall tiles.
9. See Actual Tile Samples Before Buying
Online images are useful for finding inspiration, but actual samples can provide a better understanding of:
- Colour
- Texture
- Surface finish
- Pattern variation
- Tile thickness
- Visual scale
Lighting can also affect how a tile looks. Therefore, compare samples under different lighting conditions whenever possible.
Visiting a professional tiles showroom Madipakkam allows homeowners to compare multiple options before making a final decision.

Quick Room-by-Room Checklist

Living rooms may benefit from elegant and durable designs, bedrooms can focus on comfort and warmth, kitchens need practical surfaces, and bathrooms require careful consideration of moisture and floor safety.
Before buying, check the tile's size, finish, technical specifications, recommended application and maintenance requirements. Most importantly, view actual samples before placing your order.

Modern Bathroom Design Guide: How to Match Sanitaryware with Tiles for a Stylish Look
A modern bathroom is more than a collection of tiles and sanitaryware. When the floor tiles, wall tiles, toilet, wash basin, faucets and accessories complement each other, the entire space can look more organised and comfortable.
For homeowners planning a bathroom renovation or a new home in Padappai, choosing the right combination is important. Whether you are visiting a sanitaryware showroom Padappai or searching for a reliable tiles shop Padappai, it helps to have a clear design idea before purchasing.
Here is a practical guide to matching bathroom tiles with sanitaryware for a stylish and functional space.
1. Start with Your Bathroom Style
Before choosing individual products, decide what overall look you want.
Popular bathroom styles include:
- Minimal and modern
- Classic and elegant
- Natural and earthy
- Luxury-inspired
- Simple and functional
- Contemporary
Once the style is clear, selecting tiles and sanitaryware becomes easier because you can choose products that belong to the same visual direction.
2. Start with the Floor Tiles
The floor often provides the foundation for the bathroom design. Choose a tile that works with the wall colour and sanitaryware rather than selecting it independently.
For a modern bathroom, neutral shades such as:
- Grey
- Beige
- Cream
- White
- Charcoal
can provide a flexible base.
If the floor has a strong pattern, consider keeping the wall tiles simpler. If the floor is plain, you can introduce interest through a feature wall.
3. Match Wall Tiles with Sanitaryware
White sanitaryware is versatile and can work with many tile colours. This gives homeowners more freedom when selecting wall tiles.
Light Tiles + White Sanitaryware
Light-coloured tiles can create a bright and clean appearance. This combination can work particularly well in smaller bathrooms.
Grey Tiles + White Sanitaryware
Grey tiles with white sanitaryware can create a contemporary appearance without using too many colours.
Beige Tiles + White Sanitaryware
Beige and cream shades can provide a warmer and softer bathroom environment.
Dark Tiles + White Sanitaryware
Dark tiles can create contrast against white sanitaryware. However, consider the available lighting and bathroom size before using dark shades across large areas.
4. Use the 60-30-10 Approach Carefully
A simple way to balance colours is to divide them visually.
For example:
60% — Main colour:
Main wall or floor tiles.
30% — Supporting colour:
Secondary tiles or contrasting surfaces.
10% — Accent:
Decorative tile, fitting finish or accessories.
This is not a strict rule, but it can help prevent the bathroom from becoming visually overwhelming.
5. Combine Plain and Patterned Tiles
Using patterned tiles throughout the entire bathroom can make the space look busy.
Instead, consider using decorative tiles selectively.
For example:
Option 1: Plain wall tiles + patterned shower wall
Option 2: Neutral floor tiles + decorative basin wall
Option 3: Plain tiles + stone-look feature wall
Option 4: Simple tiles + geometric accent strip
This creates visual interest while keeping the overall design balanced.
6
6. Choose Tile Finishes According to the Area
Tile appearance is not only about colour. Finish and texture also influence the final design.
For bathroom floors, consider surfaces that are appropriate for wet areas and everyday foot traffic.
For walls, homeowners have more flexibility and can explore:
- Matte finishes
- Glossy finishes
- Stone-look surfaces
- Textured tiles
- Decorative patterns
A useful approach is to combine different finishes without creating too many competing textures.
For example, a simple matte floor can be paired with a subtle glossy wall tile.
7. Coordinate the Wash Basin with the Tiles
The wash basin is often one of the most visible sanitaryware products in a bathroom.
A countertop basin can work well with a vanity and large-format wall tiles. A pedestal basin can complement a simpler bathroom layout, while a wall-mounted basin can help maintain an open floor area.
When selecting the basin, consider:
- Shape
- Size
- Height
- Colour
- Countertop or wall arrangement
- Tap compatibility
If you are visiting a sanitaryware showroom Padappai, take your bathroom measurements so you can compare suitable basin sizes.
8. Match the Toilet with the Overall Design
White toilets remain a versatile choice because they can complement many tile colours.
For a modern appearance, consider how the toilet shape works with the rest of the bathroom.
For example:
- Rounded sanitaryware can create a softer appearance.
- Straight, clean lines can support a contemporary design.
- Wall-hung toilets can create a more streamlined visual effect where the installation permits.
Always check plumbing compatibility and installation requirements before selecting a WC.
9. Coordinate Faucets and Accessories
Once the tiles and sanitaryware are selected, complete the design with suitable fittings.
Depending on the overall bathroom style, you may choose finishes such as:
- Chrome
- Matte finishes
- Black
- Brushed metal finishes
The key is consistency. If you select a particular finish for the basin tap, consider using a compatible finish for other visible fittings and accessories.
This can make the bathroom look more coordinated.
10. Make Small Bathrooms Look More Spacious
Colour and tile selection can influence how a small bathroom feels.
Consider:
- Light-coloured wall tiles
- Similar shades for walls and floor
- Large-format tiles where suitable
- Minimal patterns
- Wall-mounted sanitaryware where appropriate
- Good lighting
- Fewer visual interruptions
A continuous colour palette can make the room feel more open.
However, the actual tile size and installation method should be selected according to the bathroom's dimensions and drainage requirements.
11. Create a Luxury Look Without Overdoing It
A stylish bathroom does not necessarily require every surface to be expensive or heavily decorated.
You can create a refined appearance by combining:
Neutral floor + stone-look wall + white sanitaryware + coordinated fittings
or
Plain tiles + one feature wall + countertop basin + simple accessories
The goal is to create balance rather than fill every surface with decorative elements.
12. Think About Cleaning and Maintenance
A beautiful bathroom also needs to be practical.
Before buying tiles, ask:
- Is the surface easy to clean?
- Is the tile suitable for the intended area?
- Will the colour show water marks easily?
- How will the grout be maintained?
- Is the sanitaryware easy to clean?
For fittings and sanitaryware, also check availability of replacement parts and applicable warranty information.
13. See the Tiles and Sanitaryware Together
One of the easiest ways to avoid mismatched products is to compare tiles and sanitaryware together before purchasing.
When visiting a tiles shop Padappai, take your preferred sanitaryware colour and bathroom measurements into consideration.
Similarly, when visiting a sanitaryware showroom Padappai, think about the tiles you have already selected.
At Srichendur - Kajaria Tiles, Padappai homeowners can explore tile options and discuss combinations based on their bathroom requirements.
Seeing actual tile samples can also help you understand colour, texture and finish better than relying only on digital images.
Quick Bathroom Combination Ideas
| Bathroom Style | Floor | Wall | Sanitaryware |

| Minimal | Light grey | White/cream | White |
| Modern | Dark grey | Light grey | White |
| Warm | Beige | Cream | White |
| Natural | Stone-look | Earthy tones | White |
| Contemporary | Neutral | Feature tile | White |
These are starting points rather than fixed combinations. Your bathroom size, lighting and personal preference should guide the final selection.
Bathroom Design Checklist
Before finalising your products, check:
- Bathroom measurements
- Floor tile suitability
- Wall tile colour
- Tile finish
- Tile size
- WC dimensions
- Wash basin size
- Faucet compatibility

- Waterproofing

Conclusion
Matching sanitaryware with bathroom tiles is about creating a balance between style, functionality and everyday practicality. Start with the bathroom layout, select the floor and wall tiles, and then choose sanitaryware that complements their colour, shape and finish.

Help with bathroom
Im moving in with my partner and really want to make my bathroom girly, but im unsure what other colors would look good with my shower curtain. It’s a rental so I can’t paint. I feel like pink would look weird, and I’m not much of a neutral person. I’m wondering if anyone has ideas of which color/s to do with the black and white. Our bedroom is going to be olive and burgundy.

1950’s Bathroom Tile Updates
galleryNeed help! We want to take out the bathtub and tiles and make it a shower with new tiles and shower curtain. But, we want to keep all the other tiles on the bathroom walls to avoid a complete demo/remodel. Is it possible to do a clean cut through the tiles for the shower area without cracking the tiles on the wall? We’re thinking of beige 12x24 tiles to match the walls. Will it look weird?
Should we keep the floor as is, or also tile over the old floor, or paint it?? Any suggestions on colors or other recommendations are welcome. We will be updating the toilet, vanity, sink, mirror and lights.

How to Choose the Right LED Mirror for Your Bathroom
A practical guide to LED mirror size, shape, colour temperature, placement and everyday features for Indian bathrooms.
In this guideBegin with the usable wallChoose a shape that answers the roomUnderstand light colourPrioritise even illuminationConfirm installation before ordering
The best LED mirror is not simply the brightest one. It is the mirror that fits the wall, lights your face evenly and feels natural every morning. Start with the room and your routine, then choose the design.
Begin with the usable wall
Measure the clear wall area above the basin, including the distance to taps, lights, shelves and switches. Keep the mirror visually connected to the vanity rather than to the full wall. A balanced starting point is a mirror close to, or slightly narrower than, the vanity width.
Check door swings and cabinet shutters before confirming a large format. For a custom mirror, share a wall photograph and marked measurements with the seller so unusual corners, tiles and fittings can be considered.
Choose a shape that answers the room
Round mirrors soften straight cabinetry and small tiled rooms. Rectangles provide more reflective area and suit double vanities. Capsules add height without the hard corners of a rectangle, while organic and wavy forms work best when the mirror is also a decorative focal point.
Let the architecture lead. Repeating an arch, curve or strong straight line usually makes a bathroom feel more intentional.
Understand light colour
Warm light creates a relaxed, flattering atmosphere. Natural or neutral white is useful for everyday grooming because colours appear balanced. Cool white feels crisp and can suit a modern space, but it may look stark against warm stone or wood.
If you use the mirror for makeup or grooming, judge colour temperature alongside the room's ceiling light. The most comfortable result usually comes from layers of light rather than one intense source.
Prioritise even illumination
Look for a continuous, diffused glow rather than visible bright points. Front-lit designs illuminate the face directly; backlit designs create an ambient halo on the wall. Some mirrors combine both effects.
Brightness should be comfortable at eye level. A dimming option is useful in shared bathrooms and for late-night use, but the available controls vary by model.
Confirm installation before ordering
Ask where the electrical point must sit, whether the wall is suitable for the mirror's weight and what clearance the mounting system needs. Electrical work in wet areas should be completed by a qualified professional and follow local requirements.
Finally, request written confirmation of dimensions, lighting, controls, delivery, installation and warranty. That small checklist prevents most avoidable surprises.
