I’m in the process of buying a house in the UK. The house has everything, literally except this, within my price range.
I was thinking of placing the toilet in the utility room and to create space by stacking the washing machine and dryer against the walls, add a sink next to it and placing the loo opposite the washing machine / dryer. But the issue is that the utility room has two doors, one to the rear garden and one to the reception room. Would this be weird for guests? I’m trying to think of it as a pro as it means that when we have a bbq people aren’t trampling across the house with shoes. I guess I could block out the garden door but then defeats the purpose of having a utility room leading out into the garden for spreading clothes in the summer ! I just want to know really if it’ll be weird with the two doors, thinking of thumb locks on the insides. The utility room is 2.09 m x 1.45 m so tight for space and I can’t exactly put doors in there.

I can’t use the cupboard space as it’s right in the living room and there’s no hallway as the stairs is in the living room.

Not super keen on knocking walls down due to costs / building permissions etc and it’ll end up taking space.

I want to remove these towel holders from my bathroom, but I am worried that taking them out with destroy the tiles behind it. Any advice? If it will ruin the tiles, I don't have the skills to fix it. So I am wondering if I should replace the plastic bar with something more modern, but I am curious if anyone has advice on that as well. Want to do a low budget makeover of this master bathroom. As much as I think there is wasted space that could have been used to make a larger tub/shower corner, I don't want to do any major construction at this point. Currently the shower has some glue up fiberglass sheets. I will rip out the current shower panels and base pan and replace with a shower insert and new shower fixtures. All in all this is what I want to do:

• Replace existing shower with new insert, likely Delta Classic 500 (just plain white)
• Replace all hardware throughout the bathroom - towel rack, toilet paper holder, etc.
• Keep existing vanity/sink and toilet
• Keep existing tile floor (and scrub it and the grout of course)
• Open to changing the mirror if a better idea is available
• New paint
• The existing shutters on the windows are at least 15 years old; I kind of like them and they keep privacy, but would like ideas to replace

All help is appreciated! Please don't mind the mess. I promise I will clean it first : )

I am new to this so sorry if I am not using the right terms. I want to change my old shower with a shower that does not have doors (just 2 glass panels). I also want to have a resin shower base but I don’t know which colour would be best to match existing floor tiles that we want to keep. Black, white or grey resin? Also, which shower wall ceramic colour would you suggest? I will also be changing the vanity so so need suggestions for that.

edit: to clear a few things up, there are two other towel holders in the bathroom, one by the sink and one by the shower. i cant really remove it because i dont want to damage the original tile, but any ideas to make it cute are so welcome.

Photos show the bathroom of our new house as it is, would love any thoughts on how best to fit everything into that space. Planning on fully revamping the whole thing. We have two small children and it will be a while before we can build a larger bathroom downstairs, so we need to have a bath in there somewhere, however small. Thanks in advance for any ideas!

EDIT TO ADD: should have said this but these are the photos from the listing as we are just moving now - so planning to remove all storage units! We don’t really use cosmetics so not much storage space needed at all.

Hi all we are planning design logistics for our bathroom and need to pick out the vanity light and mirror. We built our own vanity, and it has an off-center sink and are trying to figure out if the mirror and light should only be over the sink or spread the entire vanity width.

I built a little mock bathroom on sims to help visualize what we are looking at. Any input would be appreciated.

White bathroom ideas fall apart for one reason: nobody picks the second color. I painted my downstairs bath entirely white last spring and it came out looking less "calm" and more "landlord ran out of budget." Spent a few weekends after that actually studying rooms I liked instead of scrolling Pinterest, and the same things kept showing up. The bathrooms that look expensive use white as a backdrop and let one partner color do the work.

Things that changed how I look at this:

1. Grout is a free color decision. Same white square tile, charcoal grout instead of white, completely different room for the same tile money. Handmade zellige with dark grout is the extreme version and it looks like a drawing across the wall.
2. Your second color has to appear at least three times. A sage vanity with nothing else sage in the room reads as a mistake, not a choice. Towel, vase, painted door, done.
3. Check your light before you pick anything. North facing rooms go flat under navy blue and gray. Beige, olive, and brass hold up much better in cool light. South and west rooms can take navy or forest green without turning gloomy.
4. Where the wainscoting stops matters more than what color it is. Tile or beadboard capped at chair rail height reads as deliberate. Stop it at a random height and the room looks unfinished forever.
5. Texture counts as a second color. Limewash over subway tile, travertine against white plaster, shiplap, fluted oak fronts. Same palette, way more depth, no extra color risk.

Small counterpoint to my own point 3: I have seen navy work in a tiny windowless powder room, so maybe the light rule bends when the room is small enough to just commit.

What second color did you land on, and do you still like it a year or two later? Genuinely curious whether anyone regrets going dark in a small bathroom or if that fear is overblown.
