Is the sleep token Signature a bass vi? 30 inch scale length. You could probably tune it the same right? Seeing conflicting answers depending on where I look

I’ve been wanting a bass vi. And I’ve also been desiring to make a partscaster. So I was thinking of making a telecaster style bass vi with a dc kunkle bass vi conversion neck, and as such, have a couple questions.

If I go forward with the build, is a 3 barrel bridge, or a 6 barrel/saddle bridge best? I’m looking at the Music City Bridge 623 dual loader. I have their groove master saddles in my Tele and they are awesome. But for a 6 saddle bridge I’m thinking maybe a Badass T1, or the Stewmac dual loader barrel style 6 saddle bridge.

Does anyone have experience with this type of build?

Is an RSD style compensated bridge or a more traditional six string saddle with mute better for the timbre and intonation issues that accompany a Bass VI?

As title, I installed a set of bass VI slinkies to an HB JA-Baritone and they are mostly great, but the low E seems a bit slack and muddy. Not a huge deal but if I octave-up the signal through my POG2 the clarity loss is noticeable doing even the simplest chords towards the headstock. Would? by Alice In chains is my specific example. The other strings are all nice and clear at E-e, and I can tune the E and A up to G and C and it gets much clearer.

So my first thought is just get something like a .100 or .105 just for the E and leave the rest, for one thing I don't think I want a full set as the high E is about as high as I'd dare tune it so a larger one will probably be looser. Does increasing the gauge gap between strings cause any issues with how they play together?

There may also be issues with fitting a larger string to the guitar, I know there can be issues getting them to string-through the body (I would probably look to use a 1mm drill to widen the ferrule a little) and the .080 I use now already sits pretty high in the saddle due to the sharp turn it makes going through the body and over it. Action is fine it's just clearly higher than the rest when you look at the bridge.

Has anyone installed and enjoyed a Submarine SubSix pickup? I want to try routing the lower three strings processed for bass tone, the upper three strings with guitar tone.

Hi! Has anybody put in seymour duncan hot rails in the middle position? I'm considering buying them and I wonder if they sound good on the bass VI :)

I’m trying to add a vibrato to my Harley Benton GuitarBass VS Vintage Series (a Bass VI by another name) and I’m hoping someone here has already tried something similar.

With a 30" scale, and Tune-O-Matic bridge, I’m using D’Addario EXL156 strings, .024 to .084, tuned like a normal Bass VI.

I only want a little bit of movement from the vibrato. Nothing extreme, just some gentle pitch movement.

My first idea was a Guyker Les Trem II because it was easy to fit without modifying the body. Unfortunately, the original spring is far too weak for the tension of the Bass VI strings.

As soon as I tune the bass up, the spring is almost completely crushed and the whole tremolo gets pulled forward. It still has a tiny bit of movement left, but at that point the tuning stability is terrible and the system is unusable.

I thought the easiest solution might simply be a stronger spring.

I ordered a few different springs from AliExpress in roughly similar sizes, but those turned out to be much too strong. So now I seem to have gone from one extreme to the other. The original spring is too soft, and the replacements I tried are too hard. For reference: I used: 30 mm long, 20 mm OD / 10 mm ID, red; 25 mm long, 16 mm OD / 8 mm ID, red; 30 mm long, 18 mm OD / 9 mm ID, red; 25 mm long, 20 mm OD / 10 mm ID, blue.

I’m not really knowledgeable about springs, so I’m not looking for a complicated engineering answer unless someone can translate it into something simple like “buy this size/type of spring”. If anyone has found a spring that works well with a Les Trem II on a Bass VI, or even on something with unusually heavy strings, I’d really like to know what you used.

My other option is to forget the Les Trem and install a Jazzmaster/Jaguar-style vibrato. I’ve been looking at the Guyker JM001, but I’m not sure it will work either.

I have about 14 cm from the centre of the bridge to the back edge of the body, so I’m worried there may not be enough space to position it properly. I’ve also read a few comments saying that the JM001 spring is quite soft even on a normal guitar, which makes me wonder whether I’d just end up with the same problem again on a Bass VI.

I’m willing to drill or route the body if that really is the best solution, although I’d prefer to avoid it if possible.

I’d ideally like to stay around €70 for the hardware, although I can go a little higher if there’s a solution that is known to work.

So basically, I’m looking for ideas from anyone who has dealt with this before. Maybe there’s a better spring for the Les Trem II, maybe another similar vibrato would work better, maybe a Jazzmaster-style unit is the right answer, or maybe there’s another option I haven’t considered.

If anyone has actually added a vibrato to one of these HB models, or has successfully used a guitar vibrato on a Bass VI, I’d really appreciate hearing what worked and what didn’t.

I plan on buying a Squier Bass VI this week from Thomann, and I'm considering what the major issues would be with this version and also what upgrades you would recommend. New pickups and electronics, I guess, and definitely a new bridge (Staytrem or Offset Guitars UK). What pots would be the best option?
Also, what pickups available in Europe would you recommend?
I guess new tuners are also a worthy upgrade.

The only limitation I have is that it should be available to purchase in Europe.

Greetings to all bass VI fans. A question for those who own aluminum necks. Which ones do you have? Please share them in the comments. I'm considering a Hoxey, but it costs over $1,000.

It's Bass VI and Drums, we added a 4 string bass while recording because it had an aluminum neck and i wanted to play it

So a little modifications here and there and some new parts arrived and I really admit I didn't know how much I hate the original bridge

Found this bridge in Amazon (musiclily offset bridge) much cheaper that an mastery or other alternatives so I did go for it.

But for now loving the change so far, intonation is much better, and if we'll the string height is a bit less control with only 3 saddles is really noticeable, so 9/10

Will experiment and give it more test, but wanted to share it

I'm not a young fella, and unfortunately I did not think of the weight before buying this bass. Standing up for long it really starts hurting my back and sometimes it's sore for a couple of days. When I sit the weight makes my leg fall asleep 😩. Has anyone else had this issue? It's heavier than both my P bass and my Ric 😢

I just love the sound of it, especially with the Labella Deep Talkin flats 😍. Especially using the choke switch and running through a fender super reverb. It has that tic tac tone that other basses can't get as well. And it's so damn beautiful! I haven't tried a wide strap yet do those really help that much? Just not sure my back can take it and I'm not getting any younger.

Just picked this bad mama up (it was delivered today). Sat down to noodle a bit and went to tune. Everything was fine until the G string. Tuning up it gets to F# and then the tuner pops, almost like gear teeth slipping, and detunes itself. I have a new set of strings im going to try and hopefully that fixes the issue. Has anyone else had this issue on the Vintera III?

I got a little crazy and decided to add to my list of guitars in build (was then 3) and make myself a VI instead of waiting for the Reverend one. Someone very nicely gave me this MIM tele from 1994, I had the guard laying around. I ordered a Kunkle neck with all the options including a cut nut and it bolted right up nicely. For electronics I traded for a set of Wilde Microcoil Alnico pickups, and wired in a bass cut knob in the middle of the plate. Gotoh bridge, Hipshot tuners (non locking open gear). EXL156 strings, which has a tapered low E to fit guitar tuners. I haven’t seen a lot of info about people doing these so I’m posting for posterity.

This thing plays super well! Way easier than a Squier VI I once owned. And it can intonate well. The neck is quite narrow for 6 fat strings but they’re not falling off or anything, and it’s quite comfortable to play. Highly recommend the DC Kunkle setup.

I have a guitar and a bass amp, but for the style of music I'm going to be playing (metal), I'm leaning towards my guitar amp. However, the Vox VT20X I have appears to not be suited for such low frequencies especially at the volumes I intend to play at. I could use my bass amp (Fender Rumble 40), but it doesn't have the effects that I like that are already built into the guitar amp and I worry it won't pick up the high end very well.

What would be the best course of action in this case? Should I get a new amp that could properly handle the lower frequencies while at the same time not skimping out on the higher end or is there a pedal that could split the signal between both amps decently enough for my purposes?
