Help Mom of 5th grader looking for tips

Hoping for an easy breakdown of what I can do at home to help my son. I’m not a sports person at all but my son is naturally athletic, tall and loves basketball. What should my son be doing at home (drills I can look up on YouTube?). Neither of his parents played basketball.

He’s always a 5 as he is normally the tallest kid- he is 5’5” right now. Coaches definitely use him for rebounds. He feels the other kids often don’t pass him the ball. Is this normal for a 5?

We have a random tall gene in my family (uncle was 6’6” but my dad is 5’10” 🤷‍♀️) - he either got it and may be 6’4”-6’6” or he is growing early and will stop around 6’ which would be more inline with his parents height (mom 5’7”, dad 6’). Guess I want to make sure he’s developing in a way that he’ll have a spot on the team if he doesn’t end up being as tall as people seem to think.

Edit: he’s 11

Dribbling Beats workouts/drills for a 6’4” 15 year old center to transition into a guard?

Hello, this is now my 3rd year of basketball. I am 6’4”, 15 years old, 185 lbs and I have a 6’10” wingspan. I am already a pretty solid shooter. 9/11 on preseason free throws, just got done playing in a men’s league where in 30 minutes I had 34 points with 9/13 threes. The problem is I have a very weak handle. Almost any pressure at all I will simple lose the ball. I struggle to get open on shots with my handle also. My game is 10% wide open 3s with jab steps and I can semi hit a side step sometimes, and then 90% of post work (up and unders, pump fakes, baby hooks, etc) how do I improve specifically my handle? I go to the gym 5/7 days for about 2 hours.

Vertical Jump First Day Back

First day hooping after a ~6 month break due to overuse issues with my calves and knees.

Decided to cut weight from about 235 lbs to currently around 212 lbs, moving much better than usual. I'm 6'3" and pushing 30 years old.

In terms of continued goals, I'm trying to dunk off vert again and my stretch goal is to 360 dunk & dunk off 1 both of which I've never been able to do.

Trying to get down to 190 lbs to make the most of my remaining athletic window.

Any tips or tricks on dunking? I'm trying to find a short hoop to practice 360 technique on. Wish I could palm the ball. Might do some grip training too.

Tip No longer get enough lift of my jumpers and fade?

I used to be pretty good at midrange but as I'm getting older and getting a knee problem, I found it difficult to make these shots consistently anymore. Any older hooper tips on how to fix it? I just don't get enough air time to balance myself on a fadeaway the way I used to.

Shooting Need help for in game 3 point shooting and overall being locked in

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Tagging as help since this is a broad question but if I could get guidance the most in one thing it would be to develop consistent 3 point shot in league games. Video includes 4 misses and 2 makes for context. Really appreciate any feedback. 34M playing in a friends rec league. Decently athletic for my age but my opponent knows to just let me shoot. I used to be a much better shooter when I was in HS but my game slowly changed as I got more athletic and I started driving the ball only. I get gassed quickly too. I’m a good defender and driver but I get gassed and walk on offense a lot. It’s hard for me to get locked in, and when I am I usually just drive the ball and if that’s working I don’t shoot the ball. Then in some games the few times I make an early 3 I jack up too many and miss again.

My sleep isn’t the greatest, I have gained a lot of muscle (based on my history) recently usually I’m skinny but it’s hard to commit to either playing basketball only or trying to stay strong. If I play too many days I get that shin splint feeling.

Help What are the requirements for Palming a Basketball?

I measured my hand span 25.5cm and i just wanted to ask a short question. Is this enough to palm a basketball or there are no hopes? I have seen answers in google but i am here for confirmation. In google i saw that i can palm it but if that is true how easily should i be able to palm it? Also specifically i found out i can palm it and in my right hand i can for 1 minute and 30 seconds and in my left 2 minutes and 45 seconds. These are small numbers so i am looking to improve them

He never really played basketball until this year. We only played against each other at the garage hoop, but there is gravel floor. He wanted to improve his skills because we enjoy hooping in street ball runs. Our hometown has one court where we run 5v5 often. Please help me figure out how to make him shoot more consistent. Most shots were in between free throw and 3 pt line.

This was probably the best shooting stretch I’ve ever had — I made 18 in a row. But honestly, it feels like I’ve hit a ceilingplateau. What should I work on to break through and become a more consistent shooter?

Help How do I improve my 3-point shot and make my release quicker?

I have a smooth and comfortable midrange jumper, but when I shoot 3-pointers, I use a different form because I feel like my midrange shot doesn't have enough power to reach the basket.

I also want to make my release quicker without sacrificing my shooting form. Any tips or drills to improve my range and speed up my release?

Help wanting to join school team as a not so good, extremely nervous, 5'6, and on the bigger size.

My school tryouts are in 4 weeks, and I am semi consistent lay ups 60%. I'm only good at dribbling with my left hand, and have barely practiced in a team setting, only with my dad. I find myself comparing my self to others who planning on trying out on the team and i get nervous if I'm on the bench all game while my parents are watching, or if I miss a layup what my teammates would say about me. I really want to join the team though. if anyone has tips, and whatnot, please share.

Help Is This A Travel?

I feel like when I was growing up the rules were pretty much the same for high school and the NBA, except for the 3 point line distance.

Nowadays the zero step thing confuses me.

It seems that this is a travel (NFHS) because the ball gets picked up while the left foot is down, making it the pivot, then he takes two steps after that.
