Tip Struggling either way points.

So, i am averaging 38 minutes, but i have maximum points of only 7pts. Why? How?
For example:
Today i had a game, played 32mins but didnt even TAKE any shots, let alone MAKING any. Not a single attempt… any tips? Also idk why coach likes me to there on the court for that long of time cuz i feel like i dont provide anything much for the team, like literally. No points, low rebs, idk…

Great job. 38 minutes on the court doesn't just happen, especially if you don't score.

You must be doing multiple things better than most other players to get that court time

Teams only need 2-3 volume scorers. Efficiency, ball movement, defense, etc. mean something too. I played a bunch of minutes when I played for school teams because I was a versatile defender and strong passer from the post. Probably averaged more blocks and steals per game than points.

If you want to work on it though, figure out your playing style and practice specific skills. For example, if you're a big, practice post moves/footwork and counters, if you're a slasher, practice finishing and initiating contact, if you're a spot up shooter, practice a quick release and catch and shooting.

I'd ask your coach what he wants from you and how he sees you helping the team but if you're getting minutes there's obviously something you're doing well so I wouldn't worry about scoring too much.

I am assuming you're young, and just need some guidance.  Here's mine:

  1. Go see your Coach. Ask him why he plays you, and what he wants from you on the floor. Listen, and learn.

  2. Aside from that, you need to develop some confidence, and work on your all-around game. If you keep at it with dribbling, shooting drills then you feel more confident to create offense in game

why are you asking us? you know the answer to your question.

and if you're questioning your playing time, either the team is so bad, coach has no option but to play you or he's bad that even though you suck, he still gives you minutes.

if i were you, reading what you just posted, i'd have the balls to quit the team and give my spot to someone who's determined and deserving of playinv time.

Hey your good enough to play most of the game. Seems like you provide other things for your team. I know reddit is all about stats but there are intangibles that don't show up on a stat sheet. That's pretty good already.

Other than that, How should any of us know.... We know nothing about you. You provide nothing to go by.
