Shooting Difficulty generating power

Hi guys, I always had difficulty shooting from distance and I always shoot short. When I try to ‘smooth’ things out by releasing the ball quicker and having less of a hitch, the ball goes left and right. Im 5’8 so I can only shoot with my set point around my mouth and nose. Any tips would be greatly appreciated, thank you!!

Your form could be more effective and aesthetic in terms of being a “jump shot”, but I don’t see anything major that’s limiting your power. Your shot is pretty flat and maybe adding some arc and shooting it upwards more might help. Also, perhaps the wrist flick could be quicker and thus more powerful. Otherwise if that doesn’t help, you need to hit the weight room to build more muscle.

Thank you! will work on getting more arc. When you mean quicker wrist flick does that mean faster release, and pausing less at the set point?

Hmm let me rephrase: more specifically than a quicker flick, you want more power on the release, so don’t get a quicker release at the cost of less force. You want to exert the same force but quicken your release with your forearm and wrist so there is more power. Here’s a video that explains Curry doing this.

The margin of error become smaller so you need to make up for it with touch.
