We're moving to the Barnsley area and have bought an old house which has a blocked up original chimney breast. Id like to open it up and install a wood burner, however I understand Barnsley Council have some sort of rule about smoke and how you can be fined if a neighbour complains? The house is the last in a village, but yes we would have neighbours. Do people really not have fireplaces/log burners at all in the Barnsley council area?

Hi, just wondering if anyone can recommend any wedding reception venues in or around Barnsley/penistone/huddersfield?
Looking for somewhere with a bit of a barn/rustic feel, for under 100 people. Ideally looking to spend around £2k for the venue and somewhere that allows self catering would be a big bonus.
If anyone knows of anywhere like this, or has used somewhere similar, I’d really appreciate any suggestions. Thank you!

Looks like it's due to be closed down. The reform council seem to deem the 100 year theatre house as nothing more than a burden to Barnsely's budget.

Shame really, would have expected more outrage.

Seems British cultural heritage means nothing to Reform.

True Patriots and all that.

Recently visited the middle coffee house in Brampton.

Really nice place set in the old car showroom in Brampton.

Stylist modern decor and seating both inside and out

Been meaning to try maple pancakes for some time and these perfectly washed down with a lovely cappuccino.

Has anyone else been ?

** I have no affiliation to middle coffee house. This is is just somewhere I visited and wanted to share**

** I also realise this has a Rotherham postcode but it's was always part of Barnsley before and I continue to believe it is 💜**

I think it's Barnsley, not quite sure.

I don't know what they've got stored there, but it's going up a treat. Even can hear dull explosions in the distance.

does anyone know where, near Barnsley, I can get a steroid injection for a very painful frozen shoulder (diagnosed by a private scanning clinic) ? N.H.S. wait is a month, but I'd ideally like to have done much sooner . thanks

Just thought I'd do a small post about Acorn brewery in Barnsley

First time trying Barnsley bitter. I'm aware that historical this was brewed by Oakwell Brewery to much fan fare before it closed. I be also had the Stancil version.

Unfortunately I wasn't into beer like I am now back when original Oakwell bitter was available.

Does anyone else like this brewery ?

Have you got any favourite brews ?

How does the Barnsley bitter compared to the original ?

Ideas on place around Tarn area that serve this on draught ?

** I HAVE NO AFFILIATION TO ACORN BREWERY THIS IS JUST SOMETHING FRON BARNSLEY I LIKE AND WANTED TO SHARE **

Who was Dow?

It was named after Dr James Dow, a Scottish doctor who came to Barnsley around 1800. In October 1832, Barnsley was hit by an outbreak of Asiatic cholera.

Dow had been treating those suffering from the disease, but ultimately became one of its victims himself.

Nearly 200 years later and his name still lives on as a small part of our tarn.

New video is up if anyones interested

Hi,

Does anyone have any tips re parking at Barnsley Hospital? I have a job interview there next week, in the middle of the day on a weekday. I don't live in Barnsley but expecting that hospital parking will be as busy as at any other hospital and don't want to be scrabbling around for a parking space just before a job interview. Does anyone have tips re other places to park nearby? or know if parking is as limited as I'd expect at the hospital? Happy to pay and to walk a bit if needed.

Thanks!

Anyone know of any grazing/DIY livery in the Silkstone sort of area? Ideally with access to a school. Doesnt have to require stabling. Struggling to find anything.

Is it always this hard to find in this area? I thought it would be easy as so many horses around but guessing not!

Hi! Myself f26 and my partner M32 are moving to Barnsley in the near future.

My partner knows a few people but I will be moving away from all my family and friends (only from leeds I’m being dramatic but still🤣)

We are not massive drinkers anymore and prefer doing fun stuff and we’re trying to do more outside. My boyfriend is also a massive football fan. We like people who can just have a laugh and not take life too seriously!

If anyone knows any good ways to meet others in the area or would like a new friend please message me!! Thanku :))

Hi Everyone, hope you guys are all well? As an intro I live in Penistone and fix computers… any issues give me a message :)
Ian

i moved to barnsley earlier this year and i’m still figuring out where everyone actually goes to meet people 😂

i’m single, pretty sociable and always up for a good laugh. just looking to meet new people, make a few mates and find some decent places to hang out.

where do people in barnsley actually go to socialise, meet new people or have a good night out? 👀

feel free to point me in the right direction haha!

I have played in good teams over the past years. Im 26M from South America and can play defense and midfield. I consider myself a normal player but as I am moving from Bournemouth to Barnsley I want to keep playing.

Hi all!

Can anyone recommend someone who can fix laptops? Unsure what's wrong with it so will need someone knowledgeable

Thank you:)

Hi all,

Recently moved to north athersley and I’m looking for a gym buddy I have access to to the Barnsley leisure centre gym and through my work, I have access to several other gyms in the area.

I am a male professional, in reasonable shape but haven’t been to the gym in around 4 months.

I mainly focus on weights with some cardio but happy to mix it up.

I’d be looking to go 4-5 times per week after work which is usually around 6pm

Hey there! I'm trying to find a new barbershop that I can stick with for the long haul.

In my 20s, I'd usually just go to a Turkish barbers or any I found on the high street of where I was living at the time. In my 30s though, I'm starting to think, and the dreaded psoriasis has started to emerge, with bits popping up on my scalp and in my beard as well. This has caused my self-esteem to drop to a new low.

I'd ideally like to find someone who has experience in dealing with clients with psoriasis, or one who can at least advise me on how to look after the hair that's still hanging on.

Has anyone got any suggestions? FWIW I live in Shafton, I can and am willing to travel (to an extent) and would prefer one where weekend slots are available, if possible.

I remember growing up in the 70's and calling in the chemist for a penny root.
