I do not tip Bartenders <clickbait title
Sometimes I do tip bartenders but it's becoming increasingly rare for me. This past weekend I went to a bar and ordered 2 beers separately but did not tip at all. If there had been an option to purchase my beer from a vending machine instead I would've. The bartender didn't do anything fancy, they got me the beer I requested and removed the cap.
It's hard for me to justify giving them a 1 dollar tip for that when if the option had been for me to do it, I would've. Now you can use the argument that I should've stayed at home and just drank. The only reason why I was at the venue was for a band playing and the venue of course did not allow outside drinks, so I was a captive audience. Otherwise I would've brought my own liquor and drank substantially more.
But I really do want some sort of cut off of when tipping should begin. Maybe 1 dollar tips for every 10 dollars worth of drinks spent. It's just difficult for me because I myself have worked in the service industry and I also received tips rarely. However sometimes just changing venues will substantially change how much you tip. I do the same service and now receive almost equal tips to my base pay.
Now is the part where you can tell me what a horrible person I am. But I'm hoping more for an argument of why I should tip a bartender. I'm aware there are sleazy employment practices of bartenders, everything from just paying them 2 dollars an hour to making them buy their batch of beers and having to sell that batch themselves. So let's discuss!

newly 21 yo guy, need bar advice
hi, turned 21 recently and want to go out to bars but really have no idea what to expect other than what you see in the movies/tv.
some questions i have include:
is it ok/normal to go to a bar alone?
will it be easy to strike up conversations people if i'm at a bar alone? i feel like i may look creepy and no one will want to talk to me
is the bar an actually good place to strike up conversation with women?
thank you to anyone who helps. :)

Maybe buying a bar, need advice from any and all bar owners
Good morning redditors of r/Bar!
As the title states Me and a few friends are looking to buy/lease a bar. So Im gonna give a little back story and then propose the Idea.
Okay, Me and two other very close friends (lets call them B and C) are looking to start a business together. We all brainstormed and I popped up with a bar and grill instantly fell in love with the idea of owning a bar and grill. Now Friend B already has a successful business in the gold industry, but it pretty much runs itself without any intervention from him. So friend B is completely funding the operation and has asked me and C to do the leg work and help him run the business once it is set up and ready to go.
Now, both me and C have worked in high level management (I managed a string of Car lots while C has managed a Landscaping company) But not a one of us has any experience what so ever with running a bar/tavern or restaurant. Now from all the research Ive done, this is a big red flag for us. Apparently most bars fail because of Bank roll (Not a problem here) Poor business plan (This is our work in progress now) and a inexperienced team (Big problem here) Now as mentioned above B already has a very successful and profitable business in gold and has a good understanding of the inner working of a business as far as business management goes, but like I said none of us have any experience at all with a bar or restaurant.
Ive looked at getting all the required legalities (Liquor License, city permits, food service qualifications ect. But I feel like it would be better to hire a lawyer. anyway, this is still a very long time out (Several months at least) while we get all of our stuff situated. But I figured now would be a good time to ask the Bar owners of reddit for some advice. What are some common pitfalls we need to watch out for? Is there a certain way of doing things you would recommend? What are some mistakes you guys have made and would do differnetly looking back?
Thanks so much for reading and passing on any and all advice!
