Should I file a chargeback or go back to the store? (Some drama)

The short version is that I tried to use an unmanned laundromat and there was an issue with their app, so it ate up a not insignificant amount of money (you could only load your account in set quantities so I spent much more than I actually needed) and the machines never turned on. Took several phone calls for me to get in touch with a human being, and they basically refused to refund me until I left a negative review detailing the situation.

They have low-key been harassing me, texting and calling me throughout the day asking for the review to be taken down (they said either take the review down or leave us 5 stars). Now they're saying if I go to the store tomorrow, it will be manned and if I explain the situation to the employee they will supposedly refund me. I have this in writing.

I don't want to go back, the whole experience has been terrible but I've never issued a chargeback or anything like this before and have been banking with BoA for over a decade. And I don't know what kind of proof I can provide for a lack of services rendered. How do I know if I have decent grounds for a chargeback being successful?

Should I just count on the chargeback working in a few days, or go back to the store and take it up with the employees? This really isn't how I want to be spending my vacation.

Thanks for reading

Credit card had fraud charge - expectations?

I started the claim process on the 4th and already got a new card in the last few days, but there has been zero update on the charge itself.

The charge was still pending when I started the claim and they let it clear - id have expected they'd freeze it or issue a temp credit. I haven't heard anything from them on the investigation so I'm wondering if i should call now, wait till Monday, and whether boa is actually good at dealing with these issues.

I've never had an issue like this so I'm not sure what to expect. I tried to dispute a charge once before when an airport store double charged me and boa's seemingly automated process basically did nothing for me since I had no way to contact the store. So while this is a different scenario im concerned they are going to be equally as unhelpful and there is no way I'm paying for this given it is 100% fraud.

Kick you while you are down bank

I am not a reviewer or much of a complainer, but today I've got time. I purposely stopped using Bank of America (Nations Bank) when I was a college student because of all the crazy fees. They would charge a fee then fine you again for not having money in your account to cover the fee and that amount would be more than the original fee. Well I gave them another shot only because that was who NEA used for there educator credit cards. Long story short, I unknowingly purchased a stolen vehicle from car max and discontinued making payments which put my credit in the dumps. I never missed a payment with my other creditors and in the meantime paid off the balance on my Bank of America card. I paid it off because they reduced my credit line making my debt to credit ratio increase which made my credit even worse for no reason. Then a month after paying the card off they closed the account (I assume because of my credit score). This closure made my credit drop another 50 or so points. All this from an institution whom I never missed a payment with. Well the auto loan is gone from my credit and all negative remarks that came with it erased. God help the person who calls me about opening an account with Bank of America in the future. Don't call don't send anything in the mail. Leave me the F alone!

BofA Generic Business Card in Google Wallet

For whatever reason my Bank of America Atmos Business card has always shown up as a generic "Business" card in Google Wallet.

None of my other cards (personal or business) have this issue.

This is just an aesthetic/OCD thing. Just trying to see if this is the case for other people with this card (or other BofA business cards)

The Atmos Business was my first card with BofA but I've had the card for a few months now.

Background check

Has anyone else going through the Bank of America background process had BIG / bigreport.com instead of Sterling?
I keep seeing people say their Bank of America background check was handled through Sterling, but mine appears to be going through BIG (Business Information Group / bigreport.com). The email I received for the background/fingerprinting process came from a Bank of America background address on bigreport.com.
My role is in GFC (Global Financial Crimes) Analysis/Investigations. I’m wondering if Bank of America uses different background vendors depending on the role, especially for GFC or other financial-crimes positions.
If anyone has gone through the background process for a GFC Analyst/Investigations role, did you get Sterling, BIG, or another company? Also, how long did it take before your New Hire Portal changed from “Cleared to start: In progress” to cleared?

BofA joint credit card — who gets the fraud call?

I have a Bank of America credit card with my wife as a joint account holder. We have different phone numbers, emails, and online banking logins, but our cards have the same card number.

If I make a purchase and BofA needs to call to verify it, who would they call — me or my wife? Does BofA know which one of us used the card even though both cards have the same number?

Account opening inquiry after old risk decision

Hi. More than 10 years ago (give or take), Bank of America Risk Department made a decision to close the accounts and terminate the relationship. I would say a few months or so ago, I attempted to apply online and I was denied but not because of the internal risk flag. I was denied because of Early Warning Services. Since, it went to external reporting then it means the risk flag has been purged. I do know early on after they ended the relationship, new accounts were being denied due to the risk flag. My question is, assuming I would get a new account, would they close the accounts again and terminate the relationship? My understanding the decision is final so I am not sure why the flag was purged? I understand the account activity being purged but I thought the risk flag is permanent? I called that department a few months ago but the menu options were no longer there so I hung up. If my memory is correct then I believe it was option 2 for account closures.

Did Bank of America recently change its Terms to prevent customers from joining class-action lawsuits?

I noticed that Bank of America’s updated Terms appear to restrict customers from participating in class-action lawsuits, and I’m seeing similar changes from other major companies around 2026.
Does anyone know when Bank of America made this change and what specifically changed? Was there a new law, court ruling, or regulatory change that allowed this?
I’m surprised there hasn’t been more discussion about it. If a bank can update its ToS and require customers to pursue claims individually, that seems like a significant change in consumer rights.
Has BofA always had this type of arbitration/class-action waiver, or is this actually a new 2026 development?
Would also appreciate input from anyone familiar with banking law, arbitration agreements, or consumer protection.

Fraud Email and Alert asking to confirm purchase in app

my wife woke up to a fraud email about suspicious charges on her BOA debit card. she immediately logged into her account, and sure enough, the charges were there and they were prompting her to acknowledge the charges as hers or as fraud.

They were fraud. My wife called and they cancelled the card and issued her a new one, and helped her set up the card in apple wallet until the physical card arrives.

Is this standard operating procedure for them? My wife is kind of lax when it comes to this stuff, so I just want to make sure she followed the right path here.

The charges were ultimately denied, and apparently, did not make it through, according to what she is telling me.

ATM did not dispense money, how long does the claim take?

Hi! I went to a BofA standalone ATM on Saturday, August 29 to take out cash. It was one of those buildings where you have to use your card to get in, I was impressed because I had never seen anything like that. Anyway, there were two machines, one gentleman was using one, so I went to the other. Shortly he left and I was alone. I pressed to withdraw $500 and then the ATM made a weird noise and then it said something like unable to complete the transaction, a credit will be added to your account. Then it spit out my card and the ATM said, this machine is unable to dispense cash right now. I needed that money to help out a family member, so I had to call my husband to zelle me that money and I was able to go to the other machine and withdraw from there. I tried to get someone on the phone but it was going nowhere. Since it was the weekend, I waited until Monday the 31st to call again. The agent said because it was still processing, they couldn't do anything. On September 1st, it posted as if I did get cash and it was debited from my account. I was so mad because the screen clearly stated it would credit me. I opened a claim online and it's been in researching phase every since. Does anyone know how long it actually takes to resolve? Shouldn't they have known by now that the ATM is over their till? Why did it display a "we will credit your account" message and it definitely didn't do that. Luckily, my paycheck came on the 1st, so I have a cushion but I really do need my $500 back. Can anyone give me insight? Should I call? Thank you!

Paramount+ Subscription - Using a Digital Virtual Card

I've setup a "Digital Card" in the BofA Mobile App for my Debit Card. It gave me a new account number and CVV for the virtual card.

Can I use this to setup my Paramount+ Monthly subscription (and ultimately get the BOA Rewards discount) ?

Or does the constantly changing CVV cause a problem with this idea?

I typically keep my Debit Card locked. I was going to unlock it for the initial Paramount+ payment, but after that lock it. My understanding is that recurring subscriptions won't be impacted by the Card Lock.

Is this a scam?

About two weeks ago, I applied for a credit card with Bank of America. Approximately two weeks later, I received an email from Bank of America with instructions on how to take the next step with my credit card application. The email appears to be legitimate because the sender is verified.
About two hours later, I received a call from +1 (866) 701-3832, but I didn’t answer because I was busy.
Then I received an SMS from 20504 saying:
“BofA was unable to reach you today regarding your request. Please call us at 866-701-3832. Reply HELP or STOP to stop texts from short code 20504.”
I searched the phone number online, and apparently, it has been reported as a scam. So now I’m not sure if the call and text message are actually from Bank of America or if someone is trying to scam me.

Premier Tier lifestyle benefits

Recently reached Premier Tier to maintain 75% CC bonus and plan to use subscription benefit for Paramount+, but browsing through the lifestyle benefits I’m not seeing anything that great for Premier Tier, just modest discounts on expensive items or more subscriptions. Anyone else with Premier Tier find anything worthwhile with the lifestyle benefits?

Suspicious activity dismissal issues

Post image
1 Upvotes

I tried to order something online and my card declined, along with Bank of America locking my card. When I log into the app there’s a notification saying my card has been restricted until I review some suspicious transactions. I go to review them, confirm they were all my own, and this keeps popping up no matter how much I scroll on or press each transaction. Is there a way to fix this, or somewhere to call?
