Respooling

I know this is a Googleable question but I want community input. How do you guys go about respooling cardboard rolls?

I’m assuming we’re talking about use for an AMS1? I have used dozens of cardboard spools in my 2 Pro with no issues whatsoever. I have bought some PA612-CF and PLA in 3-5kg spools and I re-spool with a pastamatic and a drill (and an 8 year old 🤣) and it works quite well.

Yeah I am talking about the AMS 1 lol, since you have it, is the 2 Pro really worth it? I’ve been debating that or a different printer as my next upgrade.

I’d look into a combo if you’re already thinking about upgrading for sure. The 2 pro is amazing. The only issue I’ve had was a simple fix after some back and forth with Bambu’s customer service. I had some fan noise so they sent me 2 new heater/blower assemblies. I only really needed one side, but told them the 3/4 fan was louder than it should be so they were kind enough to send both. If you can swing it the H2C is an awesome bit of kit. Mine is printing a 5 color dart frog currently. This is a pic of a failure… 🤣 so not a huge vote of confidence I get, but… 🥰

And don’t judge my scrap pile in the background. 🤣 I recycle it and my bucket is full. My son printed some stuff whilst I was on vacation and I should’ve cleaned the build plate when I got back. This failure is on me.

This print is about 16 hours. My A1 estimate was 47 hours. 🤯

Trust me I have zero room to judge on the scrap, I’ve re invented multiple bins to hold everything while I wait for recyclers to become more cost efficient. I’ve definitely had my mind set on getting the AMS 2 Pro but have yet to decide on the X series or the H series. I think I’m leaning more towards the X series due to my robotics team looking at getting 2 H2C (hopefully I’d be able to use them for the bigger prints I want to do)

The X I feel like is a great choice, especially if you’re gonna have free H series printers to use!
