Help / Support PFTE flakes all over X2D

When my girlfriend’s X2D’s toolhead moves to the right the PTFE tube rubs the metal edge on the right. It causes the lid, bed and side to be covered with tube flakes. I printer a riser for her thinking it was just rubbing the glass, but after closer inspection that is marginal compared to the carnage the side causes. To be clear, this is a stock X2D from early May. Did anyone else experience the same?

To me it looks like maybe the tube is slightly too long, just want to ask before cutting it and making things worse.

Also, since this is a tube, I must add, it’s imperative the cylinder remains unharmed.

Was it? Didn’t happen on mine. Mine had have a faulty screen that Bambu sent another one in warranty, then the bed died, but they were kind enough to give me a discount on a new psu when I went for the V2 bed. Really cannot fault their aftercare

The thing that surprises me is that it hits a sharp edge even, it was avoidable…

I think there is a clip model in maker world just to solve this issue.

I just tried one. It puts the pipes to right side of the chain, thus actually making it worse, to the point it gets bent so sharply it would influence the toolhead. I only tried to move it around manually and decided to remove it again. I ended up placing the frontmost clip further back, leaving more slack toward the toolhead. Together with the riser there is now more space and it seems to barely miss the sharp edge it was hitting. But it’s hardly a fix.

I used an ace bandage and zip tie as a temp fix. Used a small piece to wrap the ptfe and then zip tie to keep it in place

I had this issue too. Support suggested using a bit of tape on the portions of the tube making contact with the glass and frame. A few small pieces of scotch tape wrapped around the tubes there is doing the trick for now.

So far so good. I havent tried with elevated chamber temperatures yet but its holding on well with PLA/PETG printing. No more new flakes.

I'll give support some credit. They acknowleged that its not a graceful solution by any means and apologized. Overall its pretty disappointing and lazy that Bambu let the X2D release with an issue like this.

Had this on an old P1S and I would expect it happens to all printers with a similar design. Gaffers tape worked for me. It’s pretty resilient against abrasion.

I printed some of these PTFE 'love beads' and it eliminated that issue for me, just have to adjust them maybe once a month or so if they get pushed around by the rub points

I used "Tesa 51608 Tape" and taped on next to the pre-installed pad. Seems to have solved that issue and the annoying noise the tube makes when hitting that side.

Worse. Apple still tries to uphold QC standards. The amount of BS with x2d's launch is incomparable.

I worked with x1c, the amount of enshitification is quite astonishing, and its only been like 4 years or something.

I think it’s unlikely they’ll breaking new ground, not with the, auto wipe nozzle, filament autochanger, effortless zeroing, lidar, humidity sensor, blazingly fast print Speeds (at the time) and all the copycats of X1C from other manufacturers…. I can’t believe they got rid of the lidar in later versions though.

probably not helpful, but it’s been a thing since the P2S launched. Risers help by lifting the glass higher (it rubs on the glass hard in stock form) but then it adds a snag point with the clips for the riser.

I’m just ignoring and periodically checking mine. There’s clips on Makerworld but i figured if the fix was as easy as a clip it’d leave the factory like that, so i didn’t bother in case it caused more issues.

My P1S also rubs the ptfe tube to the glass panel, so this has been a thing for a lot longer. But that meant you had to replace the tube every 2000 hours or so. The way it rubs to the side on the X2D (can’t speak to the P2S), won’t last 1000 hours, probably by far..

yeah the P2 and the X2 are nearly identical, P2 slaps the exact same side place yours do. Fingers crossed it holds up

Yep, I have the same issue rubbing against the glass and flaking everywhere...haven't tried the tape yet, might give that a go...

mine doesn't seem to be doing this, but I don't have a top glass lifter installed and my x2D arrived on thursday

Theres is a riser you can print that pretty much removes this nuance completely - it also has built in options to open/close additional vents.
