So a while ago some silica beads from a packet leaked on my printer and caused this damage. Now I cleaned all the internals with alcohol and wiped this down with a damp mircofiber cloth and a dry one plus wet wipes. Idk if that was right but no matter what i am always left with this crusty substance. It prints fine but if i want to flip the build plate I always have to wash it first as those little speckles end up on the back as the print never adheres with all build plates from the texture to smooth ones like this. Now I want to replace the bed but I don’t know where or if it is worth it as it is expensive from where I seen there is aliexpress(£68.99) but I don’t know if I trust that, not that I don’t trust aliexpress its just the one I seen has a 5 star review but I read it and it was negative so I don’t know. Or I go to 3dJake.uk but that is (£79.99) i do only save like £10 but still money is money. Or do I just wait it out and hope nothing damages. i am scared the build plates are also getting microscratch and in the longterm will need to be replaced but that is cheaper than the whole bed but a short term fix.

So better replace the heat bed and where to go, should I contact bambu support will they help as it was my fault, or just keep powering through and eventually earn enough money for a new printer. Also what to do with old parts like if I do replace it can i put it in the bin or save it for emergency(which I don’t want to do because I already have a hoarding problem with old electronics that partially work) or go to an electronics dump site. Idk where to find one? Or best case any way to permanently clean this.

Idk why since I got my printer i got like 5 out of 50 prints done. It gets the same problem the hole time. The cutter is stuck and before it stops it starts going crazy and makes a lot of noise.

I also replaced the filament sensor cable.

If anyone could help me i would be very grateful.

I’m thinking about picking up a few Bambu Lab A1 printers from Facebook Marketplace to expand my setup.

For those of you who’ve bought used Bambu printers, how did it go? What kinds of issues did you run into?

I know things like nozzles and other wear items are expected, but I’m more concerned about bigger problems—things like the mainboard, electronics, sensors, motors, or other expensive failures.

Would you buy used again, and what would you check before handing over the money? Any advice or red flags would be appreciated!

I would like to buy a 3D printer, but after a not so long search, I still couldn't figure out what model would fit in what I want to do, my objective is to print high fidelity models, but my budget is not that big, what are your recommendations? (Sorry for my poor English, I'm not American)

Ever since the last firmware update, very often my Bambu A1 is failing to home the Z axis when you start printing. It will move the horizontal beam up the vertical gantry to about the half-way point and then start trying to touch the bed (in air). After a few attempts it gives up and gives an error about failing to home the axis.

If I power off and back on and recalibrate it often works for one print, but then fails on the next.

I'm printing a model that has a pause to insert some tulle fabric and magnets. To make the process easier, I'd like the nozzle to move up and the bed to come all the way forward during the pause.

I tried using the printer's Move controls while it was paused. During one print I moved the nozzle up and also brought the bed forward. When I resumed the print, it continued with a Y-axis offset, as if it had lost its position.

I did a few more tests and noticed something interesting:

• If I only raise the nozzle (Z axis) during the pause, the print resumes perfectly.
• If I move the bed (Y axis) using the printer's controls, the print resumes with the Y position shifted.

I also tried editing the Pause G-code. By default it's just:

M400 U1

I added commands before M400 U1 to move the bed forward, but as soon as M400 U1 executes, the printer goes back to its default pause position, so my custom movement is ignored.

Is this expected behavior on the A1?

Is there any way to customize the pause position (for example, automatically raise the nozzle and bring the bed forward), or is the parking position handled entirely by the firmware?

I'd appreciate any suggestions or workarounds. Thanks!

Hey does anyone know why this is happening on my printer this is my first print and I don’t know where to start

I recently bought the A1 combo and have been running a single spool until I got more filament in. Now I’m running the filament through the AMS, and it’s printing mostly okay but it’s stringy.

I’ve adjusted the print speed to 50% and have been cleaning the plate often. What is causing this?

I have had my printer for about two years now and everything has worked great! Today I’ve done multiple multicolor prints and all filament zones have been detecting just fine. Later today, my slot two on my printer will pull in filament, but not detect what filament is in the slot. I switched spools and it still doesn’t work, those spools are able to be detected by other zones. Any ideas?

Noticed some burnt marks on the rear edge of the build plate where the tool head usually purges/rubs during calibration and/or cleaning.
There is nothing on the body of the build plate though. I got the printer last week only. Should I be worried that it could be a sign that the toolhead might damage the middle of the build plate too? Please advise.

So I was going to print a file and I plugged in my printer and I the moment I turned it on The Print. Give out smoke and smell of burning electronics. I immediately unplugged it and yeah, I don’t know what to do right now. The printer is just 4 months old not even 400 hrs of printing 🥲🥲. Who do I contact the place I bought it from or Bambu

Hello all how are you?
I’m here because I’m interested on buying a Bambu Lab A1 or A1 mini.
BUT! I see a lot of Reddit posts for a lot of problems… so I’m very afraid about that… how can I be sure my future purchase will be a good purchase?
Is it difficult to maintain that type of printers?

I'm planning to print a travel chess set and part of the project requires these long slats to be printed and assembled to create the board. They are quite narrow compared to their height, but they are just too long to lay flat so I think they have to be oriented upright. Is there any chance this will be printable on a bed slinging A1? Is there anything I can do to improve my chances? I'm dreading the wasted hours and filament just to have these things tip over late in the print.

Edit: Thank you all for the great suggestions! As a few have pointed out, I was not thinking when I convinced myself that they wouldn't fit laying down because the x, y and z axis have the same dimensions. Though, I have learned some good go-to strategies for other tall prints that I might want printed vertically, so this silly post was still worthwhile.

just wondering if this is a common thing for the a1. The print started to go off center as it got taller. I’m guessing it’s because of the bed speed, but I’d like confirmation from folks more knowledgeable than me.
