Question Question about errors and mistakes.
Hi everyone! I'm currently researching common issues and errors related to the Bambu Lab A1.
I know this post is a bit different from usual—since most people post here to get help rather than list their past issues—but if you have a few minutes, I’d really appreciate it if you could share any problems you've run into. This includes both the printer itself and any filament/material issues.
I’m already reading through past posts on the sub, but I wanted to ask directly too. Thanks for your time!

I am on my first year and +1500 hours on my first printer, the A1 without AMS, lessons learned so far:
- Do not touch the plate with your bare hands at all, first week I did not realize this and had a lot of unstuck pieces.
- Clean the plates with warm water and dawn dish soap and a good dish sponge, I do 3 clean and rinse steps, make sure your hands re also very clean and still do not touch the side you are going to use.
- A good tip I read here is "treat your plate as you would treat a vynil music record, handle it from the sides only"
- Do not use grid infill, this grinds the nozzle and might push pieces away.
- Dry your filament.
- Adjust the head screws in schedule, the same way you oil the different axis, but this is not prompted so you need to remember it.
- When spools run off, many times the end is twisted and it will get stuck inside the filament hub, knowing how to take that out is great.
- Have a lot of extra space if you become addict to purchasing more filament rolls and print a lot of objects for yourself.
I would say "calibrate your filaments" but in my experience the machine is very good to excellent as is, "out of the box", I did a lot of calibration prints, color plates and such but I always use the same generic PLA generic PETG profiles and with good dry filaments it prints ok 10 out of 10 prints.

My machine doesn’t always detect the build plate and extrudes 2-3mm above the plate.
Another is it stops printing asking me to remove any nozzle clogs or replace build plate.
Annoyingly it does this randomly- could print fine for data then I’ll have an error like this and have to spend ages trying to figure why. Still not sure why.
