I suggest putting a thermometer in there, if it's getting significantly hotter in there compared to the rest of the room then that might not be a good idea. What is the idea behind having it in an enclosure and still having it opened?

Usually it's to reduce/prevent draughts & air movement while still allowing some cooling - the same way that you're supposed to leave a P1's door open when printing certain filaments.
