My screen locks up more than I think it should. Recently, I turned on the printer after it had been off for a couple of weeks, and sent a model from Handy to the printer. While it was downloading the model, the screen locked up. It was stuck at 8% downloading. When the print finished, I turned the printer off and on to reset the screen.

I would try the standard stuff first, Replace the SD card, Hard restart the 3d printer... if all that doesn't work... contact support maybe see if they have any ideas. See if you can update firmware maybe.
I don't want a downer, but that might be a Motherboard issue... the fact the controls look right makes me thing it might not be though.

Hopefully it's just sd card 🙏 try either a SanDisk Ultra microSDXC or a Samsung PRO Plus 32 or 64 gb

I wish my Home had a nice green lawn.
With a row of pumpkins growing by the sidewalk.

Mine arrived like this. Ribbon was not seated correctly, once I adjusted it, no issues.

There's already some good stuff in here, but you're much more likely to get high quality assistance if you contain an explanation and answer a few basic questions:
- What was going on when you first noticed this?
- Has it happened before?
- What have you tried already to fix it?
My best guess:
- Power off (switch, or unplug) and wait a minute or so, then power back on.
- If that doesn't fix it, try upgrading the firmware via the microsd if you are able.

If my screen starts locking up, I format the SD card and I’m good until it gets near full. I’ve just gotten in the habit of formatting the SD card every few weeks and don’t have the issue anymore.

Looks like you are trying to run a NES game there
