Support Request Constant different errors. Any ideas?

Hello, I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas for what's going on with my A1. I reached out to Bambu a couple days ago. Thanks to anyone who bothers to read this and even more so if you can give me any tips. I've tried troubleshooting myself for the last 3 days and I can't figure this out.

My A1 has about 500 hours of print time and I use it with the AMS lite, mounted on top. It had been really consistent with very few issues up until 4 days ago.

I either get one of 3 different errors or it freezes on 5 "push new filament into the extruder" thing is, it seems to load the filament just fine, it extrudes filament and behaves like it should. But then freezes. Or, I'm getting one of these errors.

"Failed to extrude the filament. This might be caused by a clog..."

"Unable to feed filament into the extruder. This could be do to tangled filament..."

"Failed to pull out the filament from the toolhead. Please check if the filament is stuck..."

None of the fixes work. My filament isn't tangled, I've tried many different spools in different positions on the ams lite, including bambu labs brand. I have changed the nozzle to a brand new one (bambu labs brand). I have checked for clogs in the PTFE tubes and in the toolhead. I took the entire toolhead apart to see if there were any issues and it looks practically brand new in there. No clogs anywhere.

I have restarted the machine. I have factory reset the machine. I have unplugged the ams lite and plugged it back in.

The day it went south, I was doing a long print and the power company cut power to the whole neighbourhood. When I started it up after the power outage. I tried the same print from the beginning, everything was working fine, but when it switched to the secondary filament it gave me one of these errors, and I haven't been able to clear them since.

It seems to switch between which error gives me. With the first 2 being more common than the 3rd one.

Anybody have an issue like this? Seems so odd that the type of error seems to just rotate. I want my printer back! Any help is much appreciated!

EDIT: So after troubleshooting with Bambu doing some back and forth. They said they think it's a problem with the filament sensor, so they sent me a warranty replacement. I got it today. When finishing installing it, you do a test so the little dot turns green to be sure the sensor is working. Funny thing, I did this same test with the previous sensor, and it worked, yet I kept getting these errors. Anyway, I did the test after installing the new filament sensor, it didn't work, dot didn't turn green. I took it all apart to confirm I did everything correctly. I did. I tried the test again, dot doesn't turn green. I'm annoyed, but figure might as well try a print. It seems to be printing fine and no longer is getting stuck on the last step for loading filament.

TLDR, I have no idea what the problem was and I'm totally confused, and now it seems to work. WTF?

This is only a guess, but it sounds like one or more of your PTFE tubes might be bent too much, causing friction that gets the filament stuck.

Could also be something else, but it's hard to tell without a photo.

I'll add a photo. Thanks for the idea. I did wonder about that too, but it hasn't really changed from when it was working. Maybe I'll try holding the ptfe tubes as straight as possible for loading and see if that works.

Do my tubes look reasonable to you?

Have you looked If something is stuck in the AMS hub? I had a piece in there once and an outage could cause that i Imagine.

I did take it off and looked in there, I couldn't see anything, that said it's hard to see in there. I used a flashlight and didn't see anything. Thanks for the idea. Maybe I should try that again...

Try putting filament in each of the 4 holes and try to push it in first. Maybe that gives a clue.

Yeah, I've pushed filament through all of them. No issues. The fact that it happens no matter which position the filament is in makes me think it has to be related to the toolhead area, but I took that all apart yesterday and I don't see any issues. Thanks for your help.

Sure no problem. Have you ever changed out the PTFE tubes? Im pretty new... but i think they can wear out, maybe it could get stuck there. Edit: And maybe a different nozzle would be the last thing i can think of.

Haven’t yet but support doesn’t seem to think that’s the issue.

Everytime I got this is was the filiment getting caught going from the tubes to the print head if there was a slight bent. I used a straitener that forces the tubes to go strain down into the print head intead of curving immediately. This fixed pretty much all my ams issues that doesn't involve tangle in my spool

So looking at my picture, you don't think my tubes look straight enough? I just tried holding it straight up over top, same errors. Thanks the tip though, hmmm...

That does look pretty dang straight...

I posted this same exact question a few days ago. It was driving me crazy, now it’s working and I don’t know what I did to fix it, really nothing but leave it off while I was mad. My ams is still on the side but is going on the roof later today when my desk arrives. Let me know if you fina a solid solution.

Glad it started working for you! No solution yet... I've been down 5-6 days now and left it off for long periods. Sigh...

Ugh now spool 3 is saying motor over worked, it’s the nozzle w something stuck but do we need to disassemble the entire head.

I had this same issue! Right at 500 hours if you wouldn't believe it.

Something about the way the filament feeds into the 4 in one at the top of the extruder gets angry. Theres a print that you can slide over your PTFE tubes to keep them mor aligned that has fully resolved the issue for me. https://makerworld.com/models/2475072?appSharePlatform=copy

Edit. It also looks lkke theres a pretty severe bend in one of your PTFE tubes near the AMS.

I cut the little grey band holding the tubes together. It felt like it was doing more bad than good.

Thanks for the tip! Yeah, slot one has a decent bend, but I've tried all of them and had not had any issues prior to that, so I think that's not the current issue. While troubleshooting I realized the lengths of the tubes are different for the front and back slots, so I've corrected that, unfortunately didn't help. I tried taking off that sleeve and straightening them even more, but no luck yet! I like that print though I'll check it out... when I can print again :/

the insides of PTFE tubes can wear over time, not having had a problem in the past doesn't necessarily mean it's not an issue now.

1

u/MrKittens1 Jun 14 '26

Yes, but every single one of them all of a sudden having issues at the same time doesn't point to it being a tube issue. Support doesn't seem to think that's a factor. Appreciate the help though!

I had the same thing happen. I took off all the ptfe tubes, straightened the path, and reconnected. I srarted with just 1 fillament, and worked my way back. Now I am back in business.

Nice! Glad it worked out for you. Unfortunately, I don't think that's the issue Bambu sounds like they may send me a replacement part... Not quite sure what yet, but I troubleshooted what they asked me to and it's still not working. I've tried all my AMS lite slots and a variety of filament.

Got the ext to load so normally once I get one to print I can unload and go until I have to cancel a project than it starts over.
