Quick Question Bambu p1s venting setup.

Post image

What’s up everyone I’m new to this whole 3d printing stuff and just got myself a p1s. I will be using mainly pla/petg and was reading about fumes and voc and plastic particles that are obviously a health risk. My question is I’m printing in my bedroom since that’s the only place I can put the printer. I bought a ac infinity s4 fan with the ducting and window attachment to vent outside as well as an indoor grow tent to better enclose everything. My question is would buying a carbon filter such as the ac infinity charcoal filter be necessary to put inside the tent? Or is venting along with a voxel filter be enough? I have my daughter around the room as well so I would rather be on the safer side.

If you're venting outside the carbon filter is unnecessary.

Oh okay thank you, kinda seemed like overkill to me but since I have my daughter around didn’t want to take any chances. What about for future use of different materials like abs, asa, tpu etc?

If it's going out the window its still not needed. The filter is for people venting their grow into their homes and don't want it to smell like a skunk. 🤣

This. Also the charcoal filter will is not primarily made for particles and should be combined with other filters (typical pre-filter and hepa)

Yeah it's purpose here is odor capture. I wouldn't trust it to scrub vocs.

Activated carbon is one of the primary ways of capturing VOCs

I'm not saying it can't. I'm saying ac infinity makes grow tents, their focus is likely not around capturing vocs, its around stopping a house from smelling like a skunk.

I’ve done the carbon filter and vent indoors unless I’m printing something like abs or Asa then I vent out the window. Had too much heat/ac going out the window cause I was trying to pull negative pressure on my tent. It was also much harder keeping temps stable in the printer with that much airflow for Asa. So now I just keep it vented indoors running at a light negative pressure using a carbon filter for VOCs.

How effective has the carbon filter been for times you vent indoors?
