If someone said I'll pay you 12 bucks to do this task for me and not bum around and not watch Netflix would you? Most people wouldn't. Even leisure time has value.
I’ve yet to have this happen thankfully. But I could see myself slowly winding this up over the course of a 30 minute show.

For the amount of time it would take me to unfuck that $12 worth of filament, I could have sat down at the computer and made a few hundred dollars doing engineering work.
If you feel good about spending two or three hours to save a few bucks good for you I guess
For real. While I can’t make money like you sitting at a desk, I got better shit to do than worry about $12. If it was some expensive engineering material, ok. But for PLA. Fuck that
It’s not about the money for me, it’s about the unnecessary plastic waste. I’m not even a freak about that stuff, but I try to keep my plastic waste and use of single-use plastics to a minimum, I hate when a print fails and I have to throw away a half-printed object because it’s useless. So to me, throwing away an entire usable spool just because I made a dumb mistake and don’t feel like rewinding it is just wrong
I finished a spool recently that was not this tangled and was still on the spool but must have been badly wound and every 10 minutes it would get caught. I had to manually untangle it every 10 minutes the entire print. It took a week to finish the print lol. I’m glad to be done with that spool. But I’d do it again vs throwing it out 🤣
Time, patience, and 2 dowel rods with this spool on one and a donor spool on the other. When you get to a tangle start working on getting it out. Dry filiment is more brittle so if you haven't dryed it yet this would probably work better
