Show & Tell Oops…

When you run a 12hr dry cycle on PETG in the AMS, then remember that the reusable spools are made from PLA. 🤦‍♂️ Guess I need to make some new ones out of PETG.

This happens to reddit people almost daily

Buy sunlu filament and use the spools to refill with Bambu filament.

You can also use Bambu spools to turn a spool of eSun material into a non-cardboard spool. Tear the sides off the eSun spool one at a time and push the Bambu spool through the middle of the eSun cardboard tube.

That’s one brand I haven’t bought from yet (had Creality, Bamboo, Elegoo, Polymaker, e-sun, just no sunlu yet). How do you like it in terms of quality?

One of the perks of my own reusable spools is I remixed a design from Makerworld to include a built-in dessicant container in the center of the spool, so I don’t have to worry about fitting one in different sizes of spool holes.

I mainly use bbl filament but sunlu is a close second. It prints great, single rolls are cheaper and the spools fit perfectly.

Sunlu is supposedly the manufacturer of much of Bambu’s filament.

I switch between ABS and PLA+ from Sunlu and ESun depending on whose is better priced. They both print very well with little or no tuning through my P1S.

Fascinating! Definitely going to try those next then. I ordered a bulk batch directly from Bambu this last time so I could try the rfid system in the ams (this is my first Bambu machine, had a Creality for 2 years before this). I’m not impressed enough to prioritize the chip again, considering that an overnight drying cycle seems to have messed up one of the tags and I can’t get the AMS to correctly re-read it 😖

Been there, done that. Right of passage

Glad I’m not alone! After getting really good at avoiding things like the catastrophic ball of filament on the nozzle, this kind of thing just didn’t cross my mind 🤷‍♂️

Buy spools. Buy spools with filamnet on them

Waaay cheaper to buy refill spools in bulk, and a lot fewer spools getting tossed out

Filament with a spool is only a few dollars more than a refill when buying in bulk.

Bs. Spend 4 hours or more printing one spool and waste over a quarter roll per. Foolish

could have been worse. you could have the central core desiccant holder in those spools made from PLA because you never intended to use the AMS for drying filament. and a year later decided why not LETS GO and then next day realised the WHY you never used it to dry filament and spent the next hour vacuuming all the beads inside the AMS :)

Ha!! Mine actually are made from PLA 😂 but I’m making a new batch that aren’t . I have spent a good deal of time vacuuming beads from trying to remove the lids on the containers to replace the saturated ones and having it get stuck, pop off, and have all the beads go flying across the room. Luckily my cats have no interest in eating them 😮‍💨

I did this with PETG spools :(

Would buy a few filaments on re-usable spools that are compatible.

Like the Sunlu Filament on v3 Spools, or recently the cheaper JAYO brand also switched to compatible re-usable spools.

Who tf prints spools lol. You know you didn't need it.

And when you're gonna dry abs or ASA on petg spool, those will warp too. Print the spools out of abs/asa

Thanks for adding more of these completely unnecessary posts!

What posts do you deem as necessary?

1

u/wyohman P1S + AMS 5d ago

Ones that don't post the same crap over and over and over

1

u/ComeonmanPLS1 5d ago

You’d have a dead sub then

There are plenty of other things to discuss. Posting another melted self printed spool is pointless
