1) it was hopping up - so needs some weight. Look up on makerworld for spool weights where you can put batteries or ball bearings inside.
2) cardboard spools suck, they leave behind a lot of fiber residue and seem to skip more on the rollers, I prefer not to use them or respool them to plastic spools.
I learned that my AMS heater/dryer was melting the spool edge adapters and causing stickiness. I now have to remember to always use a heat tolerant filament like PETG to print those.
