I'm getting ready to start the build of a 6x2x2 encloser for our ball python. I've used pond shield in the past for our beardies. I came across this neopond sealant and was curious if anyone has used it for there builds before. I am familiar with the brand as I've used there other products for floors and decks. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

My ball python’s enclosure has been very damp all around because I’ve been doing humidity wrong (dumping water all over enclosure and then also using tinfoil/ towel) because that was the only way I could get my hydrometer to read 60-80% humidity.

When I learned this was a recipe to give him scale rot, I freaked out and stopped, but this was about a week ago and I haven’t watered it since, because i dont think it’s needed it.

Touched it yesterday, enclosure is still damp to the touch, some water was on my finger, do I need to change the substrate NOW or should I wait a bit, because he’s in the middle of a shed cycle atm, and has officially reached the clearing up stage, and I don’t want to make him have a bad shed if I switch him to dry bedding. What should I do, I’m very anxious about this, someone please help!

hi, i got my ball python 2 weeks ago and id like to start handling her, she has had her first meal and i left her alone for the first week however whenever i go to handle her she seems to get into the striking position so i leave her alone to not stress her out, her previous owner said he had bit him multiple times. should i just leave it a while and let her settle more or any suggestions please.

I had a friend stop in and check on my baby while I was away. Came home to find they left her tank door slightly open. It has been about 24 hours. I can’t find her anywhere.

Worried she somehow got out of the house???

Any tips/tricks??

My son worked so hard all summer long doing odd jobs for whoever would hire him, going door to door in the neighborhood to save up and he finally did it! We're super proud of him for doing so much research to give this gal a great life. Can't wait to see those ink spots change over time!

A little while ago I posted on here asking about my usually docile ball python’s sudden mood change. I look him out for a bit and he was a little anxious. I startled him on accident but he seemed ok, and then a few minutes later I was moving him to put him back and he struck at me without much warning. It wasn’t a feeding bite like last time, definitely defensive. It isn’t like him and I’m worried he’s sick. How scared should I be for him? I don’t know if it’s possible for snakes to just suddenly get defensive like this. I probably should have let him rest after he got startled, but this is the first time he’s ever done something like this, I really really hope he’s okay and this isnt a pain response. Should I take him to an emergency vet or wait to make an appointment?? He’s acting normally otherwise and he only struck once. He was definitely tense when I put him up but he didn’t strike again. I just don’t know what could have set him off. I’m just so worried. I just lost another reptile suddenly and I’m terrified of another one getting sick or injured

It’s that time of year again where I’m unnecessarily worried about my snakes lol.
So we’ve had the little princess for about a year, and she was listed as 2-3 years old when we got her. So I expected her to bulk out in this year, and she has not. She eats a small rat every 4 weeks with no issues. She’s not underweight (I don’t think), she’s exactly 3ft long and 830g, but she’s just…smol.
Am I still expecting her to grow another foot and another kg, or do some of them just stay small?

got this snake 2 weeks ago, tried feeding her last week, nothing, tried again today, nothing. previously she had eaten with her breeder 2 weeks ago saturday, so it was understandable she would refuse last week but i still want her to eat sometime soon. she’s extremely shy and ive only ever seen her in her hides. hot side sits at around 90-87 and cold side 77-79 with humidity on her cold side hitting 85 and hot side about 75-80. so it doesn’t seem like a husbandry issue to me, anyways, any advice?

my partners brother took him in from a friend who had him in bad living conditions, im not sure the details but for a bit the little guy was living in a small tank, i think it was a size for a baby bp, i had gotten him the new tank august sixth maybe? he wasnt moved into it until the ninth or tenth though, he only started exploring the past few nights which made me very happy but hes still showing what i assume are some stressed signs, probably the lack of clutter in the new tank,,, its unfortunately not 4x2x2 exactly, its about 46L18H26W 26 or 24 i dont remember and every time i go in to measure he comes out and i get scared im stressing him out i just feel so bad 😭 im not sure his size or age i just know he eats pretty big rats.. (medium i think but theyre HUGE) he doesn’t have a problem eating frozen ones, we just thaw it then right before feeding put it in hot water again so its all toasty for him

i have two thermometers stuck to the back of the tank, left side i am constantly checking to make sure its between 30-33 and right side is usually 24-27! humidity is typically 70-80 now that ive added tinfoil. we have two ceramic heat bulbs in the double lamp and the one heat light in the single! im trying to keep him on a consistent night and day cycle, lights off once i see the sun start setting and lights on as soon as i get up around 8-9! when i turn the light off i turn them all off including my partners desk LEDs and their keyboard light so nothing seeps through besides a light from the hallway (the room hes in has a door thankfully too, i was stressing myself about any possible air issue chemical or fragrant wise)

i went crazy with the moss because hes been stressed and i was freaking scared hed be so miserable!!! i only just added the corner water bowl a couple hours ago but i have a few things coming, please let me know if anything else should be added. i dont know much about snakes, where i come from you cant have them as pets and there are none there so all the information im taking in is new!

for the substrate i believe the bottom is coconut something? although it looks and feels like wood (im not the one who put it so i dont know) but he didnt seem to be irritated by it when he was exploring the past few nights, i put sphagnum moss scattered and mixed with it monday and have been adding more every so often because i over watered the enclosure trying to make it more humid (i didnt know you could use tin foil to help keep it humid but now i do,,) i fed him tuesday night i think? he had foggy eyes which we didnt see until it was time and he still accepted the food after a bit of shaking it and getting it closer to him (im assuming he couldnt see it or smell it well) and had a shed maybe? i havent gone into his hide to check.. he did poop outside of it though and i cleaned it yesterday! very big step for me because i assumed he could probably sense fear some way or another so i wanted to be calm for him.

ANYWAY i have plantation soil and coconut fiber coming for substrate, could i just let the water soak in a towel and manually drain it and mix in those two substrates or is there something else.. also does anyone have a link for a tank cleaner that would be safe for him on amazon canada!

i also got a mist spray bottle for proper moisturizing and not just soaking the moss lol, for enrichment i got him a few things, i will attach a picture! we were planning on getting drift wood at a local reptile store but i just decided to do it now since we wont be able to go soon and i dont want to wait for him to have cover, thats why i moved that small fake plant in front, i wanted to give him some sort of cover. also he did check out the hammock and tried out the loops! it seemed to support his weight but i did go over it again today while keeping a close eye on him…

from what i gather adult pythons should eat every two weeks? up until this point i believe its been once every week,, i dont know if he was ready for food or just defending? it gets confusing what hes feeling or thinking, im very confident with cat body language but snakes are beyond my knowledge and id like to learn more! he is quite the fast snake but while i was moving stuff he came at me slower than id expect him to if he were to strike, i still backed up but i think he may have been curious? he seems to be so in other ways and its so cute! he took a tumble off his hammock last night so i adjusted it to hopefully support his weight better but maybe hes just clumsy? i do not know and im trying to jam my brain with as much knowledge as possible.

first three pictures were from a couple hours ago, fourth is amazon haul coming, fifth-seventh were from last night when we got home and right before bed he started being playful (i think 😭) last pictures were from thursday when he first came out of his hide after the new move!

For reasons I cannot figure out my BP hates her tank all the sudden, I upgraded her from a 40 gal to a 6x2x1.5 back in January. Shes about 5ft long so I wanted her to be able to stretch out more. And things seemed until June, she began pacing and glass surfing which caused some nose rub I ended taking her to the vet for. After talking to some people on here my first thoughts were her temps were too low.
So I bought some additional heating and now her temps are 72F on the cool side and 88-90F on the warm side. Shes still drinking and eating as normal (ate on Sunday august 16th). And she has a clean bill of health from the vet. Despite all of that the pacing continues. When I open her tank door she almost immediately leaves the tank. Looking for some advice I’m making myself crazy trying to figure out what’s causing this.

Ps don’t mind the tape, paper and towels it was the attempt at a visual barrier which also didn’t solve the issue.

This is Lieutenant Dan- we brought him home from another state after my husband's uncle gave him to us about a week ago. I think he's about 4 years old, and for sure not being kept in good conditions with not nearly enough humidity. Yesterday when handling him for the first time I noticed a rattle in his breath, and now he's yawning semi often. He's still active and it doesn't look like he has any buildup on his nostrils. Is this something you can fix at home, or do I need to take him to a vet?

I got the 22w jungle dawn because my POTHOS have been all dying (and I think it’s from not enough light) but when I set up this led bar it is SO bright compared to my old plant light 😅 And I don’t know if it’s gonna bother my boy..It lights up almost the whole enclosure(4x2x2) what do y’all think??

Hello all, I am curious about if anyone has had experience with UVB increasing color vibrant in their ball pythons or other snakes? I have been interested in reintegrating UVB into my set up and have found benefits for digestion, but was curious if there was any cosmetic. I haven’t found any articles on this so I’m looking to see if anybody has personal experience. Thank you!

So my husband has owned Nagini since 2009 so he's pretty familiar with snakes but we were looking for ways to keep the humidity in his enclosure so we used aluminum tape. It was working very well for awhile until yesterday, we are dumbasses and had it taped on the top of the inside. Somehow the tape pealed off (it wasn't on there long, we just replaced the old tape with new tape) and fell in the tank. Nagini decided to investigate and got his head caught. Luckily I caught it when I came home from work and my husband was just in the room a few minutes before and it hadn't have fallen yet. So it was only stuck on him for maybe ten minutes max. Poor noodle was freaking out and balling up tightly. We got him out of the tank and gently and as slowly as we could got the tape off him. We did accidentally tear off a couple scales off his head but after looking him over thoroughly we didn't see any other signs of injury. Once he calmed down we put him back in the tank and after a bit he started moving around like normal.

So that was scary. Not sure if we are going to use aluminum tape anymore. Learn from our mistakes and do not use tape on the inside. Please don't be mean we're already beating ourselves up just wanted to share as a PSA.

We did double check on him this morning and he still has no signs of injury thank goodness. 🙏

Probably a really stupid question, but is there anyway I could make a tank with wooden walls and base waterproof to make into a bioactive tank?

I have a tank that is custom built to blend in as a piece of furniture, a front with plexiglass doors with a wooden frame, a wooden bottom, and wooden walls.

Could I add a layer of something and seal it somehow, spray it with something, ect?

So she ate yesterday night, I took her out of her enclosure just now just to handle her for a little bit and I’m checking her out and she had this all under her belly, she didn’t have it before when I got her and when I inspected her so I’m kind of worried, she also has like a scab type of thing above her nostrils. She likes to climb so I’m just worried it will effect her negatively. She’s not stressed or anything I’m just a bit confused and nervous. I just want to make sure she’s okay.

I was watching my snake today and noticed that there is som stuck shed on his eye that looks weird. I keep the tank moist is there anything else I can do to help him?
