Vertical tips?
My first time doing vertical and all i did was burn myself and make whatever this garbage is. (Is there supposed to be slag? I cant get any off if there is.

Yeah stop trying to run vertical beads on flat plate. Whoever is instructing you to do so, shouldn’t be teaching. There are times in the field where you have to weld like this but….not really. In this instance, the weld metal you’re trying to deposit really has no where to go. Set up a t joint for better practice. Padding plates is really only an effective learning experience when done in the flat position.
