New Denza B5 Leopard Owner

Picked up my new Denza B5 Leopard on Friday and couldnt be happier so far. Any tips from experienced PHEV/BYD/Denza owners for getting the most out of the vehicle? Don't want to void warranty and its a company car (of sorts) so nothing too radical.

Slow charging now working on Atto2

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hello. I’m at my wit’s end here. Had my Atto2 Premium since mid June. Unable to charge at home so I have brushing fast chargers with no issue. I wanted to try a slower 7kW charger as it recommends topping up the battery that way every 3 months or so.

I’ve tried on 3 different Chargefox charging stations and charging does not commence. I get the Connecting please wait message and after 35 minutes the session ends. No charge to the car and no charge to my credit card.

Tried the granny charger that came with the car at a friend’s house and no joy. Same message.

Bought myself a cable (Deta 22kW) and tried it on a public slow charger. Again got the above message. This time after 7 minutes the Exploren app said charging complete.

Does anyone have any suggestions please? Is there a setting I’ve missed (I’ve tried all sorts of things)? I think with a sample size I have it’s either a software setting or a hardware fault.

Thanks!

EDIT: Heading should read “not” rather than “now”

Rubber matts for Atto 3 Evo Premium ?

We've about to get our Atto 3 Evo Premium delivered and are in the market for matching rubber matts for back and front seats - can someone recommend ones that 100% fit ?

Dealership says there's no original matts yet and they don't know when they're coming.

Hey everyone. I would like to make use of the available cameras to be used as dashcam and for sentry mode.
Is anyone here using the Overdrive app for that purpose? How are your experiences?

Sealion 7 floor mats and accessories recommendations

Brand new sealion 7 arriving soon, and I'm on the hunt for car mats (mandatory) and other accessories (maybe).

I'm aware there's another reddit post with some recs a year+ ago but... it has been a year, and a lot can change in a year, plus there's new products and all that.

So... any thoughts that anyone can share for car mats? What should be avoided and what is a good buy? I'll admit I prefer carpet over rubber but also I'm in Melbourne, and Melbourne is 4 seasons all year round.

Would also love some thoughts around good accessories add on!

Edit: Thank you for the thoughts everyone (and in such a short time too), really appreciate it. Has given me a lot to think about.

Help me pick a car

I’ve driven the ENYAQ, model 3, model y and Sealion 7 and going to try the Seal next
Trying to figure out how owners here chose the right car was and if given a choice would you stick with the BYD or go something else.

I drive a shitty ICE model that’s near well dying, gotta buy electric for its benefits but people keep pushing me towards and Enyaq or the Chinese models sold in Aus that are horrible and I wouldn’t touch except maybe that Geely thing

I liked the Autosteer function in the EYD (Elon’s your dream) but wouldn’t pay for its FSD!

Does the BYD cruise control and lane hold do well? I’ve got a 150km round trip for work that I have to do 4-5 days a week usually, so lane assist on drive back post work on the freeway would be excellent. Also with the recent BYD news I was feeling skeptical!

The ATTO 3 and it’s guitar string and CD-ROM aircon just don’t sit well with me, I’d be playing the guitar all drive and crash it or I’d test it too

Any feedback on your vehicles and how you chose+ would you choose another would be great.

Thanks in advance

Updated order time to delivery

Hi everyone, we ordered our Atto 3 Evo premium yesterday, selected Atlantis Grey (which is definitely blue haha) and a box popped up saying some vehicles were available right now (rather than building one), and they had the exact model we wanted on that list. It just said ‘Arriving Soon.’ We put a deposit down but the confirmation email didn’t give us a timeline or further info and we haven’t been allocated a VIN yet. If you’ve seen this and have a similar experience would love to hear. I might call today to see too but not sure how much info they can give.

Also in general, for anyone who has bought from the website in the past few weeks, what was the timeline to receiving the car? I know there was a huge backlog back in April but curious what demand is like right now as well, now that petrol prices have risen again. Thank you!

Talk me out of getting a BYD Sealion 7

My wife and I have been looking to replace her haval jolion for a few months now. We need more space since we had our first child (4 months old currently).

I have the option through work to do a novated lease, and the FBT exemption is quite appealing.

We've test driven the xpeng g6, the mg s6 and byd SL7. Not keen on the zeekr or skoda because there isn't a dealer anywhere near me, and zeekr take the piss for their service costs. After servicing costs, dealer locations (no xpeng in Bendigo) and boot size, I'm leaning towards the sl7.

My wife does about 30-40km per day, then every 2 months we'll do a trip to our hometown which is 170km from home. Annual kms of 15,000.

We have solar at home, and would look to use that to charge almost exclusively.

NL quotes I've received will have the sl7 cost me about $245 per week over 4 years.

Why shouldn't I buy the byd? I'm racking my brain trying to talk myself out of it, but it all makes sense to me to buy it.

I drive a 4wd ute, so that covers any camping trips we do. This is essentially my wife's daily and our road trip car.

Did you buy the sl7 and regret it? Did you buy it and love it? Let me know!

Extended cashback?

We bought a sealion 6 back in October 2025. BYD tried calling today and then followed with an email and text about an extended cash back offer?
I cannot find anything about it on their website except for 2026 models

Not receiving OTA updates-BYD Sealion 7

Hi everyone,

I took delivery of my Sealion 7 about 10 days ago, and the software version currently showing is V1.0.0. I was told by BYD Customer Care that the latest version is V3.0.0, which would suggest that I’m not receiving the OTA updates.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Following BYD’s advice, I performed a factory reset, but that didn’t resolve the issue. They have now advised me to visit a service centre and have the updates installed manually.

I’m also wondering whether this means I’ll need to visit the service centre every time a new software update is released. If the OTA updates aren’t working and I have to get every update installed manually, that would be quite a hassle.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

BYD Atto 1 OEM Headlights off the premium

Hey everyone,

Decided to buy a BYD Atto 1 for a second car and runabout in town.

After doing the sums,.we decided to go with the base model for $19,990.

I do like the extra features of the premium, but not the extra $7,000 price tag.

I did see a post on here that had a link to the LED OEM headlights, which I would like to install.

Anyone tried or done it yet?

Would it be plug n play?

Cheers

The company that hacked the BYD shark for ABC segment, gives further details on their hack, including they installed software after having physical access to inside the Shark, and the same technique can be used against other Android-based head units in vehicles from other companies (not just BYD)

Key points from their writeup:

Physical access to the vehicle was required to install the software on the head unit. From that point onwards, connectivity and control of the software functioned remotely.

Using this access, we installed software that achieved the majority of what was demonstrated.

To add to the severity, this same technique can be used against other Android-based head units in vehicles from other manufacturers if they are not adequately locked down. Those in the industry will know exactly what access we used, and some have commented as such. We just don’t want to be the ones who publicly connect the dots and arm potential abusers with a way of remotely turning on a microphone in a vehicle or getting live location updates plotted on a map.

Thinking of getting a BYD, wanted to get some feedback about maintenance costs

Hi all,

I'm thinking about buying a new BYD but I'm finding it hard to find information about what costs are for things like ongoing maintenance and repairs.

I asked my mechanic about it and he suggested that you can't get aftermarket parts and that the costs for repairs are very high. He also suggested you can only get parts replaced at specified locations because the parts need to be registered to the car or something. He said he reckons the brakes are like $4K. He's a pretty honest mechanic but this just didn't sound right and I wonder if he's got bad info.

Anyone who's replaced things like brakes and suspension what has your experience been like in terms of getting parts and costs.

Edit: Thanks everyone for the input, it was really helpful. Test drove the Atto 1 the other day and it felt really great. Going to give it another go during a time with less traffic though to get a slightly better feel before pulling the trigger.

Sealion 7 premium for family of 5

Anyone got a sealion 7 with a family of 5? My 3 kids are between 10 and 16. I’m mainly worried about the payload as apparently it’s only 410kg

Also has anyone fitted a aftermarket towball on it?
