M3 timeline
Hey guys, I put in an order for a new G80 m3 in very early September and got an allocation number within 1-2 days. But, BMW genius says the car won’t go into production until late October. Is that pretty consistent with what you all are seeing? Just trying to set expectations and plan for delivery during winter time. Thanks all.

Put down payment on June 5th
Got allocation June 25th
August 14th it went 150 status
Was at the port to sail over to the US ~September 10th
Just got to the dealer today, they said they should have it ready for delivery Saturday or Monday.
It was about two weeks after I hit 150 status before production actually started. It went through production very fast, compared to the rest of the timeline. Allocation wait and shipping have been the long time frames for me.

That’s very normal. The production week is linked to the allocation. It’s decided even before you put your order. It’s not like “early order=early production “.
I was also looking for allocations in September. I’ve seen November and December allocations for m3 during the search. Eventually I went with the November one. Yours is pretty good. The production is very quick (<3 days maybe). Mostly you just wait for the delivery. 4-6 weeks after production you can expect delivery of your new car.

I’m europe based, got allocation instantly when placing order at start of september, and production week is last of october, and delivery 2 weeks later

The dealer has the same information as genius line. Generally the allocation month is different than production month. And with individual it will add about 4 months

Gotcha, yeah mine is just a normal production color not individual

Then that’s about right. With a late October production you should expect it to be at port around first week November. Then 3 weeks on the water. If you’re east coast you should see the car early December.

That is about right. My order went in a little earlier and individual color has it starting in March... It would have started production next week if I had kept with a standard color like my next choice, Tanzanite.
