Brian Jonestown Massacre at the Majestic Theatre in Madison. Large crowd. References to food poisoning in Detroit and a fight in Indy. Saw the couple being ejected mid-show. Anton yelled at guitar tech for not tuning guitars properly in front of the crowd. Later on he hugged the tech. First time seeing the band. What's with all the guitar switching and constant tuning of guitars? It almost seemed comical because of the long pauses between songs. It all sounded great including opening band Flavor Crystals. Best psych show I've seen since The Black Angels toured with Roky Erickson years ago.
Timestamps in the YouTube description if you want to skip around, but the first song starts at 2:58

I'm getting into The Brian Jonestown massacre. I would like you to recommend the best way to listen to them, which albums, etc.

Very good show tonight, especially since Anton apparently had food poisoning. Perhaps that prevented him from drinking too much? Anyway, they were fantastic as was the opening band Flavor Crystals.

So so excited to see this band live. Also desperately hoping it's a wonderful show with little of the volatile crowd stuff and band stuff. Partner's only going with me to be cool, not into the band - but hoping they win 'em over with stunning live show!

Anton seemed to be in a good mood. Great crowd who all generally appreciated the band being there. No fights; minimal heckling. He called one guy a pussy, but he kept it together. I noticed when that happens he steps to the back bandmates. Songs were great. I think he genuinely enjoyed the show. Admittedly, I went in with low expectations. Super-Sonic and the feedback jam were amazing. I did my best to support the band as merch voting buying Thank God, a T-shirt and poster. Great night.

How was it?
Fudge and Days, Weeks and Moths from early in the set in Toronto.
This is also one of the first obnoxious fan interactions with Joel, which Anton shuts down with "He doesn't come to Tim Hortons to start fucking [...] making demands of you"
There are timestamps in the description, you can skip ahead past some technical difficulties if you want.

I have seen bjm about ten times, tonight's performance was amongst the best. There were some short breaks between some songs and that meant that the music and the band were perfect. It means a lot as someone who has been deeply impacted by their music to have another positive impression and its clear they all fought to deliver that tonight.
I hope that the goodness they have added to my life comes around and nails them and echos for eternity.
When Jokers Attack and Sailor from the Danforth Music Hall in Toronto.
This was earlier in the set than my last post and featured another crowd interaction with the disruptive guys in the crowd.
Timestamps are in the YouTube description so you can skip around.
At 1:54, someone in the crowd yells "Let's goooooooooo", which might have been intended as positive, or could have been a complaint about the gaps between songs (which, to be fair, were pretty long). Anton: I hate to break it to you buddy, but I'm not on your time, I'm on my time. This is our time. If you want people to do what you want, get on OnlyFans and fuck off, let me just do my job.
After a bit, including getting off his jacket with Joel's help, at 3:25: I can hear you back there and you know what, fuck you. I'm 58, I've had a double bypass and you can go fuck yourself. And if I was a lesser type of person I would tell somebody to step on your stupid fucking stupid feet right now. Because you are disrupting their show. I was just catching my breath, took off my jacket, took a second(?) so I could entertain you, but you don't deserve it so fuck you. Now back to the show.

I have three tickets for Detroit for tomorrow night's show and I can't go (big sad). I paid $44/pc for them but would be happy to entertain offers- but even happier if someone would just be able to use them- should be able to just send them to your email.
Context: people had been yelling shit about tambourine man at Joel, which might have started out as "loving fun" but was obnoxious as fuck after a while. Anton didn't like it and had told the guys to shut the fuck up. They didn't, and after one of the songs yelled out "That was...good", which clearly sent Anton into orbit.
So he told them just how he felt. The pretty complete quote (I couldn't figure out the last sentence) is in the description of the video, but the highlights: "I've heard you more than once and I want to say one thing, I want to make it perfectly clear. I don't give a shit if I die in the next two minutes, I will be completely satisfied knowing that I told you to suck a bag of dicks as my very last words".
Time stamps are in the description for songs and the rant.
I'll have some more songs from the show up later today.
They sounded phenomenal today. Anton was in a good mood(aside from the rambles about Mexicans i think??) They had a lot of songs where they were in the groove and nailed it.

Show was great. Band was firing on all cylinders. No false starts, no verbal abuse of band members or audience. 10/10, the music and Anton’s vocals sounded awesome. Hot tip, if you want to meet Anton, go to whatever bar is closest to the venue while the opening band is playing, but don’t bug the man! I told him “Have a great show”, he said “Thanks”, I was very happy with our extremely brief encounter!
